you gotta think out of the box.. they can be a decent caster protector. whenever mods try to attack casters, they scare the mobs.. so the casters are safe

This is an example of Darwin's Law. The weaker species will cry "OMFG NERF" and "die out" (AKA go play a diff game, commit ritual suicide with a sharp salmon) and the stronger species will adapt and improvise to the ever-changing game environment. Those who cannot or will not adapt will be left by the wayside.
This is the hand you have been dealt LordLucifer, complaining about it won't change anything. Learn to adapt and improvise or play a different game... it sounds cold, but it's really that simple... sorry.

The NEW AI change isn't "scatter" like the original.
They dont just "Scatter" - They move away from the fighting and regen health. This is a Tactical difference I felt like noting..

just stating the obvious, dervishes got nerfed already, feel free to adapt as much as you like, but still doesnt change the fact that if things stay like this, they will be hated like assassins, not cause they die like bugs, but cause they will just mess up the battlefield
yah, the mobs scatter to regen, then they pic different targets all over again, scattering agro, besides its plain annoying when mobs run

I can't help but agree. Of course we need to adapt, but the Dervish is a melee-class! Causing enemies to run from you is a serious gimp. I mean, what if this happened to warriors? They NEED to be in melee to be able to actually fulfill a purpose, but how can they do that if enemies run every 2 seconds?
With elementalists, it wasn't only called for (due the huge damage that elementalists could do to a group) and not as serious a nerf, since eles could still toss up ranged snares and such.
But a Dervish can't do that. Sure, he can cripple all targets around him, but it is now so that he cannot actually stay in a fight and hit enemies without moving them away and screwing with aggro.
I don't wanna be a whiner, but it's like an update that makes Monk's healing spells deal damage to the target at the same time as healing.
And I mean, it's not like the Dervish was really overpowered; they can hit a max of 3 enemies, not really a big deal.
I think Lucifer is right, people will be just as, or more, annoyed with Dervishes as they are with assassins. And it isn't just a case of people playing a character like they aren't supposed to, like it is with the assassin; it's a case of taking a class' primary role (which is to stay in a fight and deal damage), and giving them the opposite effect.

Don't act till nightfall comes out this probably is just a bug after all this happened last time they added anti-AoE AL. This wasn't in the update notes!

Improved Monster AI
Monsters no longer run from AoE damage when they are very healthy, or when they think they’re very close to killing their opponent.
Melee monsters are more intelligent about keeping themselves spread out, so that they don’t put themselves into a position where they’re highly susceptible to AoE attacks.
|
Also the Dervish attacks might not count as AoE since it only affects 2 other targets.
Theres no way Anet is going to nerf a class's main weapon on purpose.
I'm going to concentrate on PvP till anet fixes this.

The funny thing is you say they will be hated like sins. Well you will find a lot of people see sins as very very useful, if I want a monk taken out quickly i want a sin on my team to do it. It will be just the same with Dervish, the fact is you have spent very little time with them to think of a solution (or a use) for your problem. If you dont like them dont play them. Others will find the use and have hours of fun, its your call in the end.

Many of Darwin's theories are just that, theories. Most never *truly* proven. Though that particular one was quite believable. His theories on macro-evolution are bull though...ok I'm getting off on a tangent Anyways, there was no need to be so hard either, go troll another forum please . People will adapt, this exact same thing came up when factions came out, people paniced .

Yeah, like the Theory of Gravity. Or the Atomic Theory. Or Germ Theory.
Do your Creationist brethren a favor and learn what science is about (here's a hint, science does not prove, it falsifies) so you don't end up pulling a Kent Hovind and completely embarass the Creationist position.
Now back on topic. So far, I just completely devastate the mobs I encounter before they really get a chance to run. Although it helps that I have the preorder scythe.

lol @ trixz
spend much time on a soap box?
anyways... the biggest problem with the up date (as im sure youve all found out by now) is not that it nerfs dervish. if you kil em fast enough you wont have to chase em down cuz dead men dont run. ive had no problem killing things with my dervish. even if you do happen to aggro a few to many baddies for your comfort, dont sweat it...dervish are made to destroy mobs with their scythes and AoE enchants
it does however nerf 55s. i canno longer just stande in one place and allow the trolls to slay themselves on my SoJ at around 60% health they run off and heal up. the worst part is...i may acctually have to learn how to monk now

Don't Worry
I know the new update has a lot of people upset, and frustrated. As time goes on, there will be updates and new builds created. In my opinion I look forward to playing with the new update, it makes you think instead of just mowing over everything. This I feel will be fun for guilds to work together and counter the new enemies. Good luck to everyone, and have fun with it.

The dervish can't be "nerfed" yet because its BRAND NEW.
If you're talking about the beta test... guess what? IT WAS A BETA TEST.
I still like them

I think this is the easiest game crowd for a company to please 'ever'.
People rallying against any nay-saying with "adapt.. adapt.. adapt.."
I actually think that's great. I hate the belly-aching; must say though, I agree that the way Dervishes are affecting mobs- purely in my experience, not speaking for anyone else- borders on ridiculous, and easily falls into the realm of simple mistake.
I'm not sure I can be convinced that a melee character who causes enemies to run and *disperse*, nullifying their own inherent bonus, is an 'okay' state of affairs.
As for "What about in PvP? Should we ban kiting in PvP?" -- that's actually a completely off colour response to this complaint. Kiting has nothing to do with mobs running into mobs, or a whole classes unique ability being nullified when they try to fill their intended role!
Again, for the record, this is just my opinion derived from my experiences.

For the record, Dervishes received insane buffs to all their attacks. Almost every attack skill has had its cost reduced by 5 energy.
