Default Dervish Build

Alright, been thinking about remaking a dervish character for myself after my first one failed miserably. And now, I'm wondering what kind of build would be fun and easy to play while dealing alot of damage and not dieing too quickly.

So far, all I know is that I really want to be using Avatar of Melandru and Wearying strike.

So does anyone have any suggestions for this build involving those two skills and a high damage output?

EDIT: Also thinking of a Vow of Strength build. x_x

I'm rather interested in that, also, I rarely get a chance to bother trying to use Melandru since the others are more all-around type forms.

Add Victorious Sweep and you basically have your build.

For PvP survival/damage I'd suggest something like this:

Scythe 12+2+1
Earth 9+1
Mysticism 9

Mystic Sweep
Wild Blow (warrior skill)
Wearying Strike
Conviction
Mystic Regeneration
Faithful Intervention
Avatar of Melandru
Zealous Renewal

Hmm, would that also work in PvE? I never even thought of putting the skills together like that, seems like a build that could tank a bunch of damage to me...

It would function in PvE, but then I'd recommend the following instead, for tanking:

Mystic Sweep
Victorious Sweep
Signet of Pious Light
Vital Boon
Mystic Regeneration
Conviction
Faithful Intervention
Avatar of Balthazar

You'll have max regen, +~65 armor and high hp.

Signet of Pious Light can be used to remove Vital Boon for a nice big chunk of health.

Faithful Intervention has two purposes: the convenience of always being enchanted, and good spike protection.

If you want to go all-out tank you can remove points in Scythe Mastery and use a shield - maybe do D/W with points in tactics, for shield + Watch Yourself. Crazy armor!!

I'm really not a fan of Avatar of Melandru because of the crazy energy cost. The extra life is nice but it's still only 200. For tanking it just doesn't beat +40 armor.

Hmm, well, would +65 armor really help as much? I always thought that that much armor would only prevent around 5 damage from each blow you take.

Either way, will that build have a fairly high damage output as well? I'm also worried about conditions, one of the most annoying things to me in the game is when I get crippled and slowly limp towards an enemy spellcaster or when I'm diseased or suffering from burning. Is the only solution to this with the build to control my monk heros to remove the conditions from me before the rest of my party?

Avatar of Lyssa or Balthazar
Conviction
Eremite's Attack
Chilling Victory
Sig of Pious Light
Faithful Invtervention
Vital Boon
Res Sig

works great and i havent died once. its just hard to get conviction untill youve gotten farther in the game.

I find the Avatars much less usefull than most do.
My best builds don't make use of any avatars but of the Elites, Vow of Silence, Zealous renewal and reapers sweep.

Granted these are harder to find than the avatars.

I find its much better to make your Elite an extra skill rather than the center of a build. Find a good build that doesnt require an Elite then when you cap one you can fit it in as an extra bonus.

Also you can use balth faction to unlock a skill so that your pve chars can buy it at any skill trader in the campain its found in. I would recomend you unlock and purchase these skills as soon as you can reach the first skill trainer.
Mystic Regeneration
Conviction
Armor of Sanctity
Zealous Renewal
Lyssa's Assault
Victorious Sweep
Mystic Twister

These skills with those that you start with make for a power full set of builds.
As for seconday proffs I find Elemental(armor of earth, kinetic armor), Monk(reversal of fortune, guardian, vigorous spirit) and War(wild blow, distracting swipe, "watch yourself!") are the best so far but there are many combos that work.

Dervish are very flexible and fun!
