New to NF and Dervish-Need help w/ my build
Hi,
If this has already been addressed, then please point me in the right direction. Otherwise, here goes:
I just bought GW-Nightfalls and my 1st hero is a Dervish/Mo. I have read LordHelmos' post (http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10086488 -- excellent post) about Dervish and tried to build accordingly. However, most of the P/E builds shown here are assuming that your hero is lvl20 and you have all / most of the skills.
For the noobs:
- how do get all these skills?
- how about builds that tell you how to start out with a build and end up with the favored build of the author?
- how do I get some of the skills like Conviction, Mystic Regeneration, Failthful Intervention, Heart of Fury etc early on in the game, especially if it is low level hero?
In my case, my Dev/Mo is a lvl7. SM=8, EP=3, Myst=5+1
She has basic sunspear armor bought in Kamdan. Her weapon is a "Bronze Scythe of Scythe Mastery" with inscription of halving the recharge times. It also gives S.M. +1.
My skill bar has the following (in the following order):
- Vital Boon
- Mystic Vigor
- Aura of Thorns
- Heart of Holy Flame
- Crippling Sweep
- Twin Moon Sweep
- Eremite's Attack
- Zealous Renewal.
I have all the skills in Scythe Mastery, Mysticism, and Earth Prayer that Tohn in Kamdan is selling.
I have the following additional questions:
- Is there a better way to re-arrange my skill bar?
- Right now, I am using enchantments (1-4) and then using Crippling Sweep and Eremite's Attack. If my health is falling, then I use Twin Moon Sweep to rend Mystic vigor (hopefully). What is the smart way of using the enchants and the sweeps, especially the rending ones?
- How long do Vital Boon, Mystic Vigor, Aura of Thorns, and Heart of Holy Flame last?
- I have a rune of minor vigor. Do I apply it now ro wait till I get better armor?
Any and all coments would be appreciated. Thanks.

LordHelmos did state that if you want the skills in the beginning of the game, you're going to have to unlock them, either via PvP, or by buying them in the endgame areas with a char who has already completed Nightfall (which isn't an option for you yet I'm afraid =/). After you've unlocked them, they will be available for purchase from the skills guy in Kamadan.\
About using enchants, you might wanna stack Vital Boon and Mystic Vigor on you first before aggroing, then run in to use HoHF and Aura of Thorns, both of which have effects on activation. Also, if you want the energy from Myst back, do NOT renew enchants before they end, but wait for them to end before casting them again.
For the duration of the enchants, check the skills themselves mate. It's listed there.
As for your rune, it's really up to you. If you're broke enough that buying a new minor vig is tough, you might wanna save it for better armour. If not, upgrade away. As for weapons and armour upgrading, my advice for you would be to upgrade your armour everytime there's a 30 AL increase. Don't bother with armour that is 15 AL higher than yours, it's not very cost effective. This way, you only have to upgrade twice, one time to 55 al (Blacktide Den), and then another to 70 AL (Consulate docks), which is max for derv.
Heck, if you're that starved for cash, I'd be willing to sponsor your armour sets (Blacktide + consulate). Hit me with a PM if you're interested. Offer applies only to you

If you really need a specific skill right away, you can do some rounds of Random Arenas with a PvP character (use one of the prefab builds, they're mostly pretty good), then unlock the skill via a Priest of Balthazar. Unce unlocked, you'll be able to buy it at the skill trainer with your PvE character.
...Otherwise you're basically stuck until you get later into the game.
Incidentally, something a lot of people don't realise is that any skills you unlock at the Hero Skill Trainer are learnt by your character too. So make sure you spend your points there on mainly Dervish skills!

You may as well stick it on - you can always recover the rune with an Expert Salvage Kit when you upgrade your armour.

Even with Mystic Vigor up, there's usually not much point in loading up on all four enchantments at once. Throw up a couple and save the others until you're ready to remove them right away with Twin Moon Sweep (a fun trick with both Aura of Thorns and Heart of Holy Flame).
Final note: If you play much with other people, it's considered good form to bring a resurrection skill of some sort (as a /Mo you can bring a "hard" or reusable res like Resurrect or Rebirth), so don't get too comfortable with an 8-skill bar! You may need to squeeze a res into one of those slots later.
