It's all about the builds, not the class.

Why do I get the feeling this is some stupid attempt at finding out a class which can beat a dervish for a pointless scrimmage.

only dervish counter to conditions is avatar of melandru{E}
also slowing down attack speed is quite nasty, D can remove hexes with avatar of dwayna {e} and pious restoration, dont even think about stances beacose most of decent dervishes carry wild blow,
also dervishes are most effective in enchantment removal, try not to use them too much, dont forget that they do massive physical dmg, but their attack speed isnt that fast
dont forget that dervishes know their weaknesses, hehe :P

Ranger with [wiki]Nature's Renewal[/wiki] and Interrupts...Enchantments keep the dervish alive on the whole. If he can't cast any what's he gonna do? Then could degen with poison... I guess it depends on what avatar, if any, the dervish chooses to take.
Could go E/Me and Tank the Lil' buggar with Earth Magic. Kinetic armor, mantra of earth, ancestor's visage, stone striker, stoneflesh aura, obdisian flame, ...

Yup sounds like it. I had a buddy that wanted to test my dervish. his mesmer got me once but only because I popped my avatar too soon, the second time it was dwayna versus a degen hexer/enchant removal=no contest. Then he had ranger, I used Ebon Dust and snared with AoT. No contest there either. Honestly dervishes can counter most things with enough planning and forethought and the avatars. Honestly your best bet would be to go for mass enchant removal and then try like hell to keep degen pressure on him and interrupt any attempt at Mystic regen. It will probably only work once though if the oppoenent is a good player.

Yes and no.... A lot of Dervish enchants are 1/4cast.. NR wont do much. And Dervish can always reach your NR and smack it fast :>
Still, it's rock paper scissors. It all depends on the build because you cant spec in everyone. IF Dervish is Melandru he isnt anti-hex.
Mesmer counters Dervish the best i'd say, because both anti-caster stuff and anti-melee stuff work on him.

Ironically enough when you talk about counters. It always comes down to mesmer being the best choice. A Me/N could rip a Dervish enchants to shreds and use e-spiking. Of course if you want to hit a Dervish where it hurts use Signet of Humility.

Mesmers are just good like that though. While you can do some nasty PvE stuff with mesmer's they were made for PvP. Fast casting, interrupts and shutdowns galore, pressure, they do it all.
