A simple Dervish build
Hi, I've got a lvl 20 Dervish which has a very silly build. My question is: can anybody give my a nice build that contains Dervish skills from Istan, Kourna and Vabbi, and some others (sec. proffession doesn't matter) also from Istan, Kourna, Vabbi, Lion's Arch, Kaineng Center. Maybe someone can give my some nice skills that work well together with the skill Avatar of Balthazar. I've checked certain sited but most of the builds contain skills that can only be accuired in the Desolation and Realm of Torment. Please help!

Avatar of Balthazar sucks.
Get a real elite that actually does something.
[skill]avatar of lyssa[/skill]
[skill]eremite's attack[/skill]
[skill]mystic sweep[/skill]
[skill]protector's strike[/skill]
Eternal Aura
[skill]resurrection signet[/skill]
... then whatever else. I like Aura of Holy Might.

Nothing works well with this skill, it's crap.

You can either:
- Unlock skills account wide with Balthazar Faction (can be gained so so quickly in Zaishen Challenge)
or..

This is the easyest build I can think of. The elite can be captured in Sunward marsh.
Scythe Mastery : 12+3
Mysticism: 10+1+1
Earth : 7+1
[skill]mystic sweep[/skill][skill]eremite's attack[/skill][skill]victorious sweep[/skill][skill]reaper's sweep[/skill][skill]vital boon[/skill][skill]mystic regeneration[/skill][skill]Faithful Intervention[/skill][skill]resurrection signet[/skill]
Use a zealous scythe of enchanting to spam 4s reload attacks.
Forget about Avatar of Balthazar, it's only use is soloing Fissure of Woe.

You still need to unlock a skill before getting it with a tome.

Type [skill ] {skill name} [/skill ] <-- without the spaces to show pictures of each skill, or..
Copy + paste Template Code

I use this on my dervish most of the time.
[skill]Ebon Dust Aura[/skill]
[skill]Heart of Fury[/skill]
[skill]Mystic Regeneration[/skill]
[skill]Aura of Thorns[/skill]
[skill]Wild Blow[/skill]
[skill]Victorious Sweep[/skill]
[skill]Zealous Sweep[/skill]
Any res you want to use can go here I usually use Sunspear Rebirth
The only caveat is that you really need an Ebon weapon. If you can't get one or just really like the one you're using then you can replace Aura of Thorns with [skill]Staggering Force[/skill] Sometimes I run Staggering Force in EoTN because of the weakness. Lay into the melee and spread your blindness around. Mystic Regen and Victorious should keep you nicely healed. Zealous is good if you know how to cluster your enemies. At best you can get a gain of 4 energy per attack. At worst well you get an attack that does extra damage for only 2 energy in the end.
I've also been known to run this occasionally.
[skill]Avatar of Melandru[/skill]
[skill]Wearying Strike[/skill]
[skill]Mystic Regeneration[/skill]
[skill]Eternal Aura[/skill]
[skill]Heart of Fury[/skill]
[skill]Reap Impurities[/skill]
[skill]Zealous Sweep[/skill]
whatever res you want can go here
With this one you really need a zealous scythe because it is sooo energy intensive. With Avatar of Melandru and Eternal Aura you can maintain your avatar form indefinitely in PvE. Since you're immune to conditions you can spam Wearying Strike and lay deep wound around you like mad. Mystic Regen helps keep you healed along with Reap impurities since most of your enemies will have deep wound condition on them. It also helps when you lose your avatar form since Melandru adds 100 health and if you aren't prepared for it when the avatar form drops it can mess you up big time. Zealous sweep is in there once again because it's a one energy damage+ skill at worst and at best it can net you 7 energy with the zealous scythe.
Mystic Regen might give you pause but here is how you do it. go to the battle islands. Go to the Zaishen challenge. Take some heros and fight the Illusionary Weaponry team. These guys are cream puffs. Build up enough Balthazar faction and go to the priest of balthazar. You can then unlock Mystic Regneration at the priest. when you do return to Kamadan and you can buy it like normal at the Skill Trainer. eternal Aura is a PvE only skill on the Sunspear Title track. Zealous Sweep is an Eye of the north skill.

and once you unlock a skill from the Priest of Balthazar at your GH or other area, then you can buy that skill and any skill trainer like the guy in Kamadon, but of course this doesnt make elites buyable at the skill trainer, lol

[skill]Ebon Dust Aura[/skill][skill]Vital Boon[/skill][skill]Mystic Sweep[/skill][skill]Wearying Strike[/skill][skill]Chilling Victory[/skill][skill]Crippling Sweep[/skill][skill]Signet of Malice[/skill][skill]Signet of Pious Light[/skill]
There is my ab and the build I also use with when working with heros. I can actually tank very effectivly with this build, but it's not a great tanking build but it puts out very good dmg while also blinding everything and keeping yourself alive using vital boon and sig of pious light.

I don't think it sucks as such, but the problem is it only really gives you generic boosts - it's something to use to give you a boost if you put together a good build where the elite doesn't matter, but you can't hang a build off it the way you can with most elites. So while it's better than, say, Dwayna or Lyssa for adding to a random build, a build that is constructed to synergise with the effects of one of the latter will generally outperform a Balthazar build.

Balth is not useless... just against anything besides undead... or when you need to move, it's important not to get too relied on any one elite or build.... i've used every avatar, with the exception of grenth, at some time or another and purposely to get me through dif missions.... Balth got me through the second MoW mission, and easily so

Hey, someones gotta do it. Just like someone has to sit in the back and heal us all while we're doing it. . .
Tanking is an art, and I've found it can be done quite well with Av of Mel. . . .though I've only been at the game a few weeks. I practice my builds in easier areas- solo- to get the hang of them and I've found her to be quite successful.

If the game is so easy, then why bother playing at all? A tank is simply a preferential way of playing, I think and can't really be 'right' or 'wrong'. No, you don't 'need' one, but then do you really need any class at all, by the same standard?

First, let me say that outside of this forum I'm sure you are an intelligent, well-liked, and friendly person- unfortunately that side of you isn't shining through here.
Secondly I wasn't arguing with you. I was stating an opinion, which if you'd bother to read, was similar to yours: eg Mel is best for tanking.
I would hope that anyone, new or not, would be welcome in this public forum without fear of being attacked by those who think they now better. I am sure you are very experienced at the game and this is why I've chosen to participate in this forum- to learn from you, not to be treated disrespectfully by you. I'm sure your tactic works well at the playground at school, but this is the big wide world where people treat each other with a bit of respect.
Lastly, its not discrimination unless you are treating me differentially on the basis of my sex, race, or religion. It just being rude.
