If you don't have bal spirit, use a zealous scythe, I ran a dervish through Nightfall with several different builds using a zealous scythe of enchanting throughout and rarely had energy trouble.

Suggestions:

[skill]Chilling Victory[/skill][skill]Victorious Sweep[/skill][skill]Balthazar's Spirit[/skill][skill]Conviction[/skill][skill]Veil of Thorns[/skill][skill]Armor of Sanctity[/skill][skill]Mystic Regeneration[/skill][skill]Vital Boon[/skill]

1) Vital Boon synergizes well with Victorious Sweep and Chilling Victory.
2) Victorious Sweep>Reap Impurities. More spammability and less energy FTW.
3) Bring a Windwalker's Insignia because Vital Boon will help with the extra health to trigger Chilling Victory and Victorious Sweep.
4) For more killing, you can take Wounding Strike instead of something.

Reminds me of the build I made on Wiki, http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Build:D...victed_Wounder

Pretty much the same idea, except mine is more PvE-suitable, while yours is more Farming-suitable. Hope this helped.

Question How does this build work?

I spent the last 4 hours toying with it. I was rather disappointed. After reading this thread, I expected this build to be a real "wow" compared to the 130 build I've been messing with, but found it about the same...mostly unable to kill most anything worth killing. I MUST be doing something wrong. Can you post some more detailed instructions about how to use this build?

Also, what is your recommendation for dealing with hexes and conditions?

I was able to kill Modti Darkflower by taking two points from Earth and putting it into Mysticism, and replacing Fleeting Stability with Avatar of Lyssa. Unfortunately, that only provides 45 seconds of protection from hexes and conditions, not really enough to kill Darkflower, but just enough to kill a couple of his minions. Then I had to run away, wait for Avatar to recharge, run back, and start slashing away at two more minions...then repeat just for Darkflower alone. All in all, it took 25 minutes to wipe 5 foes (1 necro boss, 2 necro, 2 paragon), who dropped some junk worth about 300gp. If I tried killing Darkflower first, his paragon minions went to town on me and I was dead in under a minute from paragon damage and necro hexes. If I instead killed the minions first, and then left him for last, I at least survived longer....

I'd greatly appreciate some more clear directions. The points and skills are great, but how am I supposed to USE the build? Which skils do I activate before battle? Which ones do I NOT activate under certain conditions?

Are there better scythe attacks to bring? The 10 point cost of these skills seems to make Spirit of Balthazar all but useless, unless I'm aggroing a large group...and then I invariably end up with a healer, an armor ignoring foe, or a hexer in there fouling the whole thing up.

Should I be using the alternate builds with smiting prayers and/or mesmer skills?

When using the alternate builds, where do I put the points? Obviously some points must go into the secondary attributes, otherwise the monk and mesmer skills would be useless.

I was able to wipe groups of Tusked easily. I was able to wipe groups of plants easily. I was able to wipe groups of insects pretty easily.

I was totally unable to kill monks, and if an enemy with armor ignoring skills was around I was usually dead quick. If a group had 2 or more monks in it, that pretty much rendered my damage to zero. I'd hit, they'd heal, I'd hit, they'd heal, etc.... That little red health bar on the enemies was bouncing back and forth like a ping pong ball, but there was zero net loss of health.

As with other enchantment heavy builds, mandragors were the curse of death. Couldn't survive a battle with these guys for 10 seconds.

If you can post more detailed instructions about how to use the build, that would be awesome. Also, I'd love to see the attribute distribution you use with the alternate builds posted here.

Default Okay, what's the deal?!

So far, this is my experience with this build:

Useless against necros, paragons - dead in 10 sec or less.

Useless against monks or parties with a monk - they heal faster than I can damage

Useless against djinn - dead in 10 sec or less.

Awesome against bugs, as long as there are no paragons, necros or monks present.

Awesome against great beasts as long as no crested ntouka birds are around.

Useless against mandragor.

I must be doing something wrong. I've tried all three variants of the build to no avail. All I can kill is things I could kill already with my 130 build, or things I could kill with a team of 3 heroes and my usual derv build (which is heavy on mysticism).

And this is not an improvement?

You're not likely to find a build that can solo all of those things you mention, unless you're using heroes or prot spirit and low health.

not since you can solo most of those with a 130, that's what he was saying

also ebon dust aura partially nerfs the eng regen of this build, as it makes bal's spirit pointless

its a basic build. its not meant for a specific area, but to show new players the basics of a dervish solo farmer.

This build works very well against melee mobs. Steer clear of mobs with mesmers and necros. Enchantment removal will hurt this.

I will not advise using Ebon Dust Aura as elite, if you blind your enemies, what's the point of using Balthazar's if you they won't be able to hit you. An elite attack skill like Wounding Strike will be better since your object is to inflict condition immediately to trigger the effect of Armor of Sanctity. Besides, it's spammable at 3sec recharge.

Sure thing.

Confirmed:

Howlers-These are a piece of cake with this build. They have no means of healing and are good starting targets to learn the fine points of the skills.

Bladed Termites-Ideal targets, however they have the crippling drawback of usually being accompanied by a Veldt Beetle Queen, who has the irritating habit of being able to outheal your damage output. Mobs with Veldt Beetle Lances are completely doable though. You should only attempt these once you have some practice with the build.

(Shiverpeak) Minotaurs-Blatantly easy.

(Crystal Desert) Minotaurs-Take a bit more finesse. Also, having Conviction + Armor of Sanctity up at ALL times is an absolute must.

More as I discover it.
