Dervish Build (general PvE)
For most of the Nightfall campaign (I have both Factions and Prophecies, too, as well as the EotN expansion, but I prefer to get tackle one campaign at a time unless I need to do some of another for a skill capture or whatever), I have been able to neeb my way through on my Dervish with a build largely patched together without much thought from skills that either looked good at the time or those received from quests.
As I reach higher-level areas, however--the Realm of Torment springs to mind--I find that this will not work forever. As such, could anybody suggest a good PvE Dervish build for general use? I have the Avatars of Grenth, Lyssa, and Melandru; Grenth's Grasp; and Ebon Dust Aura as elites off the top of my head, but I will gladly capture more if required.
I do not particularly mind what secondary profession I have, so don't limit yourself on that account.

Radiant scythe works in any build at full damage. you dont need the extra energy from lyssa. lyssa is screaming for timed attacks.

Not quite.
At high levels of scythe mastery you can actually push the max damage beyond 50, and I'm pretty sure the bonus damage only works based on energy remaining post-swing. That means you need to start from ~30 energy or something, maybe a bit more... hence why Lyssa helps it. (Also makes it more likely you'll have high energy in the first place.)
Oh, other thing... radiant scythe has the highest bonus damage from any scythe attack in the game that I've found... which is why I always take it on Lyssa since the point is high damage anyway.

no. at 14 scythe the max damage is 47. levels beyond that are irrelevant. no you need 24 energy to trigger max damage, thats not that hard to do. also, in my experience wild blow usually does more damage. its a great skill, yes, but it dosnt need lyssa. also i wouldnt give up the bonus damage you can get from lyssa on timed attacks to get radiant.

Lyssa is great but it would take a lot to get me to part with [skill]Reaper's Sweep[/skill][skill]Mystic Sweep[/skill]

it did take alot to get me to part with those, but when you hit 100 damage per swing you dont miss it that much.

Tbh, I've not used Reaper's Sweep in a long while.
The silly high damage on Lyssa wins out.
If I really, really, really needed DW for some reason, I'd take "Finish Him!"

I agree with Alex and Coloneh...when you're doing 100+ damage per hit you don't miss the dw from reapers. Finish him! if you want some dw.

I take it that Lyssa + Radiant Scythe works well, then?
Would this work?
Avatar of Lyssa
Radiant Scythe
Eremite's Attack
Mystic Sweep
Heart of Fury
Wild Blow
Eternal Aura
<some PvE skill; Aura of Holy Might or whatever the Kurzick / Luxon Dervish skill is if I get it; Pain Inverter; etc.>
On a side note, because the Kurzick / Luxon title track is account-wide, if I get the level at which the skill becomes available for purchase (pretty sure it's the first rank at 100,000 points), will I be able to buy that skill on every character I have for the 3000 faction, without having to get the required 100,000 points again?

False.
Radiant uses only energy LEFT after using 5e on attack itself. So you must have ~29 to trigger the whole bonus at 14SM.

And why wouldn't you run 16 SM in PvE?

I was doing a casual dungeon run (where we take less effective more fun builds) with my dervish in my alliance the other day and we needed an interrupter, problem was non of us needed the dungeon on a ranger/mesmer so i specced this for fun.
12 marksmanship
12+1+1 mysticism
deft strike
savage shot
disrupting shot
meditation
rapid fire
eternal aura
avatar of lyssa
signet of resurrection
Its not as effective as a scythe wielding lyssa dervish for damage but the utility is handy and when you trigger the skills extra damage on interrupts things get interesting

I run 13 or 14 sm I don't like the idea of sacrificing that amount of life. I'd rather bring Aura of Holy Might and not have to give up all those hit points.

Getting SM as high as possible improves damage/crits a bit, which is why I actually do it... not in PvP, because life seems much more important there, but in PvE it generally doesn't matter - ~500 HP is good enough for me.

I usually take my Derv into PvP, when i play some. So having 2 headpieces for all 3 armour sets i have - to use a minor on 1, and sup on the other.. is too costly to bother with.
Minors it is.
