Shame and Dervish Enchantments
I'm at the end of Nightfall with my Mesmer. I pretty much run as an interrupt mesmer with Empathy added in for those pesky Ranger/Warrior/Dervish types.
I usually have Guilt in my bar, but I was thinking of switching to Shame to help interrupt the occasional Dervish Enchantments. However, I'm not sure if it would trigger or not, and I haven't had time to test it out..
Shame states: "the next time target foe casts a Spell that targets an ally, the Spell fails and you steal up to XX Energy from that foe."
But the Dervish's enchantmenst all state that they apply to "you".
So is "you" considered as a "target ally"?

never tested it but there is a difference between spells that "target ally" such as [skill]orison of healing[/skill] and spells that "target other ally" such as [skill]heal other[/skill] since guilt affects spells that "target ally" I assume it should work on self inflicted spells.

It's possible that it does not work, on the basis that Dervish enchantments, by and large, do not operate on a target. Give it a test though, I suppose.

I'm pretty sure self targeting enchantments don't trigger shame, I know no target enchantments such as aegis don't trigger shame so I think self target only falls in the same category.

That is correct, it does not work on 'self' enchantments

I may be wrong, but I think that's a bit too much enchantment removal...

Thanks for the reply's.
I thought that it might, but having played as a Mesmer since the beta, I'm not surprised that it doesn't.

Shame does not affect self-targeting dervish enchants. Targeting means you have a choice in the matter. Those dervish ones, most of them, you have no choice, they go on the caster every time. Shame doesn't pop on those.
