Refining my Dervish build
I've been wondering if i've been doing something wrong, I do fine generally wise, but I wonder if i can get more out of my build. I've been having a bit of energy management problems on my dervish, I currently use a Bubhal's grasp as I love the aspect of an Earth dervish. basically what I try to achieve in my builds is survivalbility with moments of spiking and aoe'ing if possible.
I work my survivalbility around using Ebon dust aura, I have signet of pious light until i can get mystic regeneration. I have wind walkers on three of my armor pieces, followed by a +2 scythe mastery and a +1 earth prayer. Currently I have full scythe mastery and full Earth prayers, with only 3 in mysticism, my reason for the low number in mysticism is simply because i dont use alot of their spells, and I tend to be ok with all the protection spells going off from my monks, but i'm always open to suggestions to help my build.

[skill]Vital Boon[/skill] [skill]mystic sweep[/skill] [skill]chilling victory[/skill] [skill]distracting blow[/skill] [skill]wild blow[/skill][skill]signet of pious light[/skill][skill]aura of thorns[/skill][skill]ebon dust aura[/skill]
any and all help is appreciated, I just want to be able to farm decently and i'm wondering if I can keep my Earth skills while doing it, I'm in love with ebon dust aura what can i say.

Mysticism works on any enchantment, not your own which fuels the energy for your attack skills. It also contains heart of the fury which will increase your damage by 50%. Aura of Holy Might is also a must have skill - it increases your damage rating which will up your end result damage by 50-75%.
Staying with your original theme:
[skill]mystic sweep[/skill] [skill]eremite's attack[/skill][skill]protector's strike[/skill][skill]wild blow[/skill][skill]heart of fury[/skill][skill]aura of holy might[/skill][skill]ebon battle standard of honor[/skill][skill]ebon dust aura[/skill]
12+1+1 scythe , earth 8+1, mysticism 10+1.
If you _must_ bring a tanking skill, don't waste your time with wussy self heals from signet of pious light or mystic regen, take armour of sanctity instead - stopping 100-200+dps is better than healing 30dps.

First of all, as a melee character you shouldn't have Major runes.
So you start with changing all your runes to Minor ones. You're using Bubahl's Grasp and if I remember correctly it doesn't have +30HP mod.
Secondly, with EDA, only thing you need for survivalbity is Armor of Sancity as mentioned in post above (in NM you don't even need that, your hench monksshould be able to keep you alive 90% of the time)
Thirdly - most importantly - you MUST hit at least 9 points in Mysticism for proper e-management. Some builds don't require this breakpoint, but they are usually built around Onslaught, Zealous Vow, Attacker's Insight - Wind Prayers in overall.
For your build, I'd suggest following:
[skill]Victorious Sweep[/skill][skill]Mystic Sweep[/skill][skill]Eremite's Attack[/skill] or [skill]Protector's Strike[/skill][skill]Flail[/skill][skill]Aura of Holy Might[/skill][skill]Ebon Dust Aura[/skill][skill]Armor of Sanctity[/skill] Rez or [skill]Great Dwarf Armor[/skill] or [skill]I am unstoppable[/skill]

I thought as a melee character in PvE you wanted lower health to keep agro on you and away from your back line or did i forget something?
Second doesn't the dervish chest piece has an inherent +25hp? So you could technically even Use a Superior rune and only lose 50hp and negate that with a Sup. Vigor. and gain +3 to an attribute for no health loss.
other than that Bassu is pretty much dead on.

Matter of preference. Besides, if you need to have lowest hp in your party to "keep aggro" - I think you're doing something wrong here
You don't need major nor superior runes to dish out crazy damage. With minor rune I mainly have 14 in SM so it's decent I guess.
And yeah, I'm pretty sure that most of the good melees will agree that you shouldn't put major/superior runes ever (beside farming of course). But if it works for you then I'm perfectly fine with it, peace

Well, actually there is a health loss. Those +3 attributes did not come without a drawback.
Negating the loss of health didn't mean you gained any like the guy without the sup attribute rune did.

I'd go with:
Mysticism 8+1
Scythe Mastery 12+1+1
Earth Prayers 10+1
or if you want longer EDA and more reduction go 11+1+1 in Scythe and 11+1 in Earth.
Good luck!

the minimum i will have mysticism is 9 for the simple reason that you get 1 energy per every 3 ranks of mysticism so if you stick to the cheap enchants (cost of 5 energy) then you only lose 2 energy...try this
WARNING ONLY FOR EXP PLAYERS. THIS IS A PRO BUILD AND WILL TAKE SOME MASTERING
try these skills:
D/A way of perfection, shroud of distress, mystic regen, mystic vigor, victorious sweep, mystic sweep and rez sig..
for your elite you could use vow of silence (but monks wiill hate you even though you heal yourself up to 150 per enemy within scythe range with each hit) or any avatar, i preffered dwayna.
if you use vow of silence you can time it where you can maintain all enchants whilst being immune to casters, i like using it to interupt their spells also
bare in mind you will need 30+energy.. if you can get good at swapping between vamp, zealous and armor penetraing scythes you will have a lot of fun, especially in RA. i was accused of hacking many times when no one could hit me because of shroud of distress and i was immune to spells :P
scythe mastery=15/16
earth prayers=8
mysticism=9
shadow arts=5
styche attachment=+20% enchants (must have)
watch out for mesmers with sig of midnight, man i rage when i see mesmers...i mean like....RAAAAAAGE
Also shattering assault from assassins, these are the only skill swhich will hurt this build
also you could swap mystic sweep for cripple sweep since it got nerfed

I'm not fan of ebon vanguards wards on a melee character, does it really benefit that much over one of the norn buffs? If you run multiple physicals it could, but the ward is very limited in range imo, and you could spend the time it takes to cast to sweep once at your target and do enough damage to get back the additionnal damage of the ward...just a thought

Vanguard ward gives 75dps just from minion damage.

Zealous Scythe + [[Staggering Force] is actually a very nice compromise. It's both ebon damage, with the bonus of also being zealous. Not sure which skill in cellard's build could be switched out for it though...I'd be tempted to try it instead of Protector's Strike. I've come to love the damage-type conversion skills...if there's room on the bar of course.

Considering you ressed this thread just to answer something...
Your build is bad, and your tactics also. (Weapon swapping > 20% enchant martials) Bye.
