Default What is your general opinion about the dervish....

Do you like the profession? hate it ?

What should be nerfed or given to them? and how are they in general PVE and PVP ..

This is not for info ...just opinions so no wiki linking ..

I like Dervishes. They're pretty good in PvE and PvP; but I'm more of a warrior and necromancer guy. Perma-Avatar is epic; [skill]Reaper's Sweep[/skill] and [skill]Wounding Strike[/skill] are also great, especially for PvP, even if they've seem to fallen out of favor.

I love Dervishes. It is the first class I chose to explore Guild Wars with. I think the wind prayers line should be given better skills due to lack of favor. ;d

I'd like to see them nerfed, but Warriors' Endurance, Palm Strike and Primal Rage should come before that.

Saying that, perma avatar is pretty cool for the style. Wooden chick, four-faced chick, some faggy warlord, a green dude with the skull of an animal I can't remember for a head and some blue chick.

Dervs are fine for PvE, but they don't cut it in PvP anymore. To fix this:

- a few minor boosts to the wind line (better stats at lower investment and/or decent IAS to avoid having to spec huge mysticism for HoF). This would give the derv more utility, and make the wind line less like a gimped non-primary strength line.

- (ok, this is PvE) make the earth line a little stronger as well, with more (or simply less-conditional) defensive boosts. Earth + Mysticism should make a good tank... at the moment, it only serves as minor protection for when your monks are bad.

- i want knockdown! knockdown knockdown knockdown! and an interrupt... seriously, no interrupts? Warriors have like 18 counting KDs, even sins have like 6.
Maybe something in the wind line... Contemptuous Breeze, Distracting Gust, something. (haha, ok, i fail at inventing names). KDs + snares + interrupts are a great part of the game, and a derv only has a few reasonable snares and none of the rest... everyone else has a least two of the three. Give me Inquisitor's Touch (Mysticism), 5e, 10 recharge, Lose one enchant. If an enchant is removed, target touched foe is KDed for 0..2..3 seconds.

- no real complaints about scythe/mysticism line, but in order to truely make a derv viable in PvP again, the trend of giving ridiculous boosts to warrior/assassin elites to increase the overall damage output of a single character has got to stop. Dervs make for good pressure and are good against active defense; pressure and active defense is pretty pointless right now thanks to huge number of defense-oriented passive skills in a standard 64 skill deck.

I personally think they're over hyped. Everyone jumps all over Dervish just because they look like the Grim Reaper. Granted they do look cool, that's not all what you should base your class on. With a slow attack speed and 70 armor, it's just not anything that currently has potential in some of the more advanced areas of Player vs Player. Assassins create spike damage, and have the ability to sneak out when things get too dangerous. Dervishes have survivability enchantments, however it's not going to cut through some of the heavy damage that takes place in the front line.

I love Dervishes and would love to play one, however, they can only be made in Nightfall and so I'll never have one.

Its not really the look everyone's trying to achieve here, Lem. It is just their playing style which make them unique from any other profession. Who ever expected that ANET would use "members of Sufi Muslim ascetic religious Tariqah, known for their extreme poverty and austerity, similar to mendicant friars in Christianity or Hindu/Buddhist/Jain sadhus, also called fakirs amongst Muslims" as a class in Guild Wars?

Other classes are pretty much the base, if you will, of typical MMORPG's. (Excluding mesmer, paragon, dervish, and ritualist).

Dervishes are fun, but mostly for gimmick. Warriors are just far more balanced.

They are "meh" to me. They are a good class like any other but I just don't really enjoy playing them.

Yes they are unfortunately a bit gimped ..perhaps due to the fact that they are the newest class ...I dunno..... they are very cool looking but the assassins and warriors do everything they do better .....even at wielding scythes ....

dervishes are just warriors with uberdamage, but lacking the awesomeness.

I'm a huge fan -- while mine's still fledgling (lvl 17), it's a blast to play. Auto aoe naturally has it's appeal.

I agree fully with the lack of interrupt statement, though.... went D/W specifically just so I could bring [distracting blow] with me. [whirlwind attack] is nice, too, though

I really don't like melee classes anyway, but I like playing derv for random things like orders, or healing or something. :P Plus I <3 their armor.
