what do you want out of a Dervish in DoA?
just to kill mallyx for HoM? or doing regualar runs?
Dervishs are fine in DoA if your looking at a heroway type of setup.
cryway im not to sure

I've run a derv cryer with my guild, just have caster weapons for energy. It's also helpful to run raven's blessing (in addition to cry) and spam swoop. I wouldn't expect to find pugs with it though.

dude we all just proved you wrong.
imo you can finish any elite area or any area of the game with any profession you just have to work your way around it.
non cryway, [asuran scan] and [Aura of Holy Might] and [reapers sweep] or [wounding strike] does insane dmg in DoA

In Physway, Dervishes are amazing at doing epic amounts of AoE damage through the intensity of the scythe... :P

While I disagree with the skill suggestions, I agree with the idea. I mean, I beat The Deep on my Ranger using a Hammer Warrior build as a tank, with 3 friends all taking 2 heroes each. And it was all of their first times. We still won, easily.

Any monkey can be a cryer, since it's not tied to a mesmer attribute. PUGs can be pretty stupid in what they'll allow in their groups, so you may have to ping your build a few times to get into a cry group. Just be aware that they like to use a perma sin, which would be incompatible with you running into melee with your scythe.
And of course, there are other methods for DoA besides cryway, some of which utilize massive holy damage. I heard a rumor that holy is right up your alley.

dnt think dervish players are 2 successful in doa. But if they are they would need some good monks.

scythe dervs are used as the frontline in balanced DOA teams, works fine for that. Most groups forming in DOA are not the balanced teams though, usually crywayers, best bet is to find a guild that does some DOA stuff.

Dervishes do fine in going through DoA, however since a lot of Dervish builds revolve around enchantments, fighting Mallyx himself with a Dervish can be tricky. Definitely can be done, but requires some thought to the build.
