Zealous Vow is more useful for secondary professions that don't have good energy management. Mysticism makes Zealous Vow pretty useless

hmm that does sound interesting, I imagine pulling off a [twin moon sweep] with nightmare up would be pretty devastating (and not to mention give you a pretty noticeable self heal)
|
[Avatar of Grenth (PvE)@14]+[Nightmare [email protected]]+[Order of the [email protected]] (from an Orders Necro, to prevent the "two Elites wtf?!" comments) is nasty...

A lot of people have mentioned bringing [Insert Elite Here] for "certain areas"
Here are my (slightly more specific) "area" suggestions:
[Avatar of Grenth] for areas without heavy anti-melee hexes
[Avatar of Dwayna] for playing without a Human Monk, or hex heavy areas
[Avatar of Melandru] for areas with lots of conditions, or lots of spikers (Eles/Rits)
[Avatar of Lyssa] for non-specific use (also works AMAZING with Daggers)
[Wounding Strike] for areas with potent healers
So for most areas which feature a balanced range of foes, I suggest bringing either AoG or AoL. AoG gives you more survivability and more reliable damage, while AoL helps you spam attack skills and deal more spikes.

[Avatar of Melandru] of course. Condition immunity, +100 hp and combos very well with [wearying strike]. In areas with Heavy hex [Avatar of Dwayna] and for all the energy they can save on the backline.
Dervishes aren't resilient enough in HM to be walking around with attack elites instead of avatars. (well maybe with consets and an imbagon they can, but they won't have any advantage over an assassin wielding a scythe).

I like using [Avatar of Dwayna] + [Mending Touch] to make myself immune to everything. I know this is a PvE only thread, but try using this combination in PvEvP places like JQ or AB, it's surprising how long you can last against groups of players trying to gank you lol.

[Avatar of Lyssa] + [Radiant Scythe] should rip through nearly anything. Works amazingly in pvp too.
Unless... you don't like killing things.

Don't forget deepwound is 100 damage to someone with 500 health or more,

You're in PvE, why aren't you using [Aura of Holy Might] instead of [Conjure Frost]? More damage, less attributes to invest in.

[Wounding Strike] is the best dervish elite. spammable deepwound kills stuff fast, esp in pve where they ball and dont kite.
all the dervish avatars except [Avatar of Melandru] suffer from lack of a useful deepwound.
ps if u cant take advice from pvp ur baed at game.

You can use [Wearying Strike] and use heroes that remove conditions (Smite Conditions, Mend Body and Soul, Recovery). It's not just about about one build, it's what you can do with a team. It's really useful on healers and bosses.

well u can use condition removal but the fact of the matter is outside of [Avatar of Melandru] using wearying sweep neuters you.

True, but you won't be too good bringing in a PvP style build and team builds into PvE areas.

I would very much disagree. My Legendary Vanquisher, Legendary Guardian, and Legendary Master of the North were done largely with a Wounding Strike+AoHM build. The key to playing a dervish in PvE is good enchantment cycling in order to keep your armor up (at least for me, using Windwalkers). Between [mystic regeneration], [heart of fury] and [aura of holy might] plus any enchantments you might receive from sources, you should be plenty sturdy. Wounding Strike and Reaper's Sweep are largely more useful on a more universal level (avatars do shine in some spots).

My favorite skill to use for a tank Dervish is Great Dwarf Armor. It seems to fit Dervish very well and allows you to use Windwalkers because it replaces the HP you sacrifice by not using Survivor Insignias.

Or you can just use your heroes to cast some quick ending enchantment like [patient spirit] on you to gain energy?
Mysticism is very underrated and is awesome when abused correctly. If you need to use Zealous Vow to spam attacks, fine, but you really shouldn't need it

Not cast, spam. You'd have to lose an enchant on every swing for mysticism to compare with [[Zealous Vow].
