Wow... this thread is kind of rediculous...

Honestly OP, if you are having fun, then keep at it. Do what is fun for you. Who the hell cares if you are slightly less effective than a primary Ranger? its not like FA, JQ, RA, and AB are serious business anyway? In fact... Guilds wars is... Just a game! thats right, it was actually created to have fun in! I know this may be a novel concept to many people out there but it is no big deal whether or not you win any given RA match. Your first born isnt going to die if you lose.

So go have some fun. This is only a game after all.

I love the it's just a game mentality, but you are using it the wrong way. Look up the definition of a game, and you will see that it is about completing a goal, hence, if all you want to do is have fun, there are plenty of ways to have fun. If you want to have fun through a game, you should focus on actually being good at the game since that's the point (along with having fun). Imo "it's just a game" should be used when people are more concerned with titles and all that fancy stuff instead of just having a good time playing.

RA: you can pull this sh*t here, since matches are quick to restart when your team loses. If your team manages to garner a win despite of you, the smart ones will leave anyway.

FA/JQ: lasts for a considerably longer time and has more players, most of 'em wanting to win. They are rightfully going to consider you a handicap and you deserve every flame you get from them. Accept it; it comes with the territory of your fun.

AB: a rare situation in which you yourself are not the only one to blame. People should ask for builds when team building, so all 4 of your team are at fault. The 8 other people are rightfully going to consider you a handicap and you deserve every flame you get from them. Accept it; it comes with the territory of your fun.

Conclusion: you like it when people get mad at you. You are a griefer. Griefers are kinda sad.

To clarify something:

There's nothing wrong, per se, with the attitude "I just wanna have fun and I find <insert crap build> really, really fun."

However:
1. My conception of fun doesn't involve sucking at GW. So, I don't want you in my team. As long as you stay out of RA/AB/FA/JQ where I can't boot you when I realize what a tard you are, what you do outside of my party (and without effect on the game economy) is no concern of mine. You'll find a lot of people, especially on these forums, share my view.
2. Builds like this have no place on the forums. Anyone can make a crappy-but-"fun" build all by themselves, without any help from you. It's making good builds that's a challenge. The dialogue here is about "here, I think this is a good build," "yes, that is a good build; but wouldn't this be better?," "no, I don't think that's a good build; here's why," "I know this isn't a good build; please help," and "you're right; that's not a good build; here's help."

1. Yes, I am aware that a lot of people on these forums share your view. Im also not saying that my conception, or anyone else's conception, or the OP's conception for that matter (though i cant really speak for him) of fun is sucking. Im simply saying that we shouldnt knock on the OP for doing something that he finds "fun", as everyone has a different view on what is "fun".

2. I do agree with this point. Im not quite sure why the OP chose to post this.

And as for games being about "completing a goal"... this definitely is not the case. People play games to have fun. I mean if I wanted to complete a goal or try to accomplish something, I would do it in real life where it actually matters. Im not advocating bad play, im just saying that people dont necessarily play this game to be good, and people definitely dont play low end PvP for that purpose. Competitive play is more in the area of GvG and HA, not AB and FA and stuff.

You're running a Dervish primary with all Ranger skills in FA/JQ/AB/RA why? For an additional 25hp (Dervish Chest Armor bonus)? To swap Expertise for Mysticism (which doesn't do you a bit of good with the skills you're running)? To lose the ability to increase your attributes with runes? To lose +30AL vs Elemental damage (Ranger Armor bonus)?

You aren't getting blasted by the 'elite', you're getting blasted by people with common sense and an understanding of game mechanics. There's a difference.

Didnt he say that he was running it because he prefered the way dervishes looked over rangers? Really... dont reply to a post unless you are actually going to read the post. Sure, if he wanted to be the best he could, he would play as a ranger... and use a different build, but obviously he doesnt care about using the top build available to him.

If you want to play a ranger build, play a ranger.

If you want to go bow on a dervish here is a list of suggestions
-Drop the traps theyre useless and a waste of energy in PvP
-Drop your bow attacks to only 2, POSSIBLY 3 (at the max)
-Replace apply poison for poison tip signet and use Barrage+your zealous bow
-Bow skills with zealous bow should include |Barrage|Volley|MAYBE dual shot

-Use a zealous bow if you dont use Zealous vow or whatever its called
-Maintain your energy with DERVISH enchantments and replace troll unguent with Mystic regeneration or faithfull/watchfull intervention.

(thats about all i can say)

Poison tip signet|Zealous vow|Volley|Dual shot|Needling shot|
(Zealous bow)
Poison Tip signet|Barrage|Volley|Needling shot|

(heals can be used in combo with Faithful intervention, a perma enchant and a nice heal when it procts, and Mystic regen +3-4 health regen PER ENCHANT)

Descriptives
Lyssa or grenth are nice in place of zealous vow, but not for PvP.

If you MUST run a dervish ranger go volley/dual shot with zealous vow to back you up as you will gain energy for each hit you make

IF NOT then maybe use
|Poison tip signet|Barrage|Volley|Dual shot + a zealous bow...

though i will say you're running up a tree i tried to climb for a while now. I had something with Ebon dust aura, but that doesnt work anymore because its strictly Melee

Useing a Zealous Bow and your dervish skills to up your attack speed and energy gain would be about all that you could do, try and work WITH the class, you're gunna want mainly dervish skills with a slot open for Poison tip signet, and two bow attacks.

Honestly though, You may have fun but you are hurting the team horribly and also increacing the negative outlook for dervish players.

Dervish ranger Bow sucks because the dervish doesnt have any form of energy management with bow skills. Ranger skills work because rangers have expertise

Necros have buit in energy management and eles have a mass of energy

Necros have a few skills that cause damage when the opponent takes physical damage, and the bow would help keep the range, and possibly pin down to keep them from getting close

Eles with mark of rodgort|Poison tip sig|Barrage| and a firey bow can effectively burn/poison spam masses of enemies to death

A dervish doesnt have much that will help you, youre left with raw bow dmg, and a few attack speed increaces+ an energy devouring build.

If you HAVE TO play a ranger on a dervish be smart about it. Dervish bow is gone because EDA is gone...and rangers could use EDA anyways, and since they have expertise theyre better at it.
