Default New To Dervish

Hi all,

I've never really played much as Dervish before, but I made one for a go... I'd like to get survivor r3 on him - has anyone got any suggestions, builds, secondaries etc for making a survivable one? I'm happy to go through campaigns to get there, rather than doing the dwarven boxing way too...

I'm starting in nightfall obviously, and don't have access to a heap of skills through tomes, though I can get elites if I get a tome. Are there some skills that I should absolutely get?

I was thinking a dervis/ranger so I can stay at the back of a fight rather than risk all as a tank, or monk maybe? Don't mind tanking if there's a foolproof way (with heroes even)

Any help appreciated!

Unfortunately, Mysticism is a pretty horrid form of energy management compared to Expertise or Critical Strikes. Most ranger skills have a pretty big cost and every Dervish skill is meant to be used upfront.

Personally, I'd stick with a scythe and stay around mid-range or in the back to defend casters.

Wind is your best friend as a dervish in PvE. Zealous Vow and to a lesser extent Attacker's Insight. With a zealous scythe and those, you can regain a lot. You don't want both skills on the same build, though.

If u wanna go /ranger to stay back, try the build offered here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/d...t10396978.html
I find it rather effective and very entertaining.
And u could go /monk for healing, but derv have some of their own self-heals which will suffice and if u wanna actually monk on ur derv, u can do that to but, e-managment is tough.
U could also nuke as a derv, if u wanna stay in the backline: Arcane Zeal + Fire attunement + faithfull intervention + lots of fire nuke
