Couple Dervish Skill Interaction Questions
Hey all,
Been tinkering with my dervish and I finally got to Gate of Torment...and got Sand Shards. AT first glance it looks awesome...but I was wondering:
The enchantment goes away after the 4-5 hits. This should trigger any AoB or Aura of Holy Might effects, but here's the question:
Lets say its a 4 hit Sand Shard. I hit three different things and then the last hit I use a pious assault. What happens?
Do I A) do the pious effect and inflict burning AND get the effect of the last Sand Shard or
do I more likely B) remove the shard without getting its last adjacent bonus?
I guess it boils down to WHEN the game checks to remove the enchantment.
If its B, then sand shards is less useful for teardown builds and it might just be better to use something else, since you'd effectively not be able to use a teardown skill for the 4 seconds or so when Shards was being used.
ANyone know the score on this one? *EDIT* It occurs to me you could just cover it with another enchantment and after tearing down, it will likely be gone on its own accord. Hmm
Here's Q #2
----------------
Grenth's Aura
Let's say its at 21 life steal. Does this affect only my weapon damage or Weapon+skill?
If its weapon only, then it effectively makes your lower damage scythe hits more effective (9-21 = 21). If its weapon + skill then not as cool, but still armor ignoring right?

Grenth's Aura: the game first figures out your damage vs a target, including armor adjustment and all +damage buffs. Then it applies the grenth's aura reduction and appropriate life steal. It does nothing special about "ignoring armor." If you're just autoattacking with a scythe, then it does help on your low hits, but most attack skills will put you above that threshold. Notably so does strength of honor, making it very questionable in PvE.

Its as I feared then. Hmm
The 20ish life steal flash from all adjacent is still interesting. In practice it seemed to do away with the 'damage you get running to the mob' since you'd flash it when you got there.
The combination of Grenth's aura and AoGrenth was fun last night. Stealing 35 ish health every swing and flashin the aura every 10s.
If ONLY Grenth's aura was earth prayers...the loss of sand shards and my personal favorite, mystic sandstorm...really hurts the damage output.
I had to try it out and it may still have use in areas with high disease where I need to be a tank

I am fairly certain that it strips the enchant first so I don't think you would get that last hit of sand shards. Simple solution is to cover SS with another enchant for tear down.

^ This is accurate, the Sand Shards will end on the last enchant before Pious Assault triggers the "lose enchant for X to occur" clause.
