First, welcome to the world of guild wars as you are fairly new . Second, yes, "gw-language" can be confusing, and I sometimes have to be reminded of what some terms mean, but you will at least get used to some of the more commonly used ones. AoE is one of them, and it just mean Area of Effect. AoE builds means builds that deal damge to multiple enemies a lot, though I would think dervs do that naturally. With that out of the way, you mentioned looking at wiki etc, but you didn't mention reading the sticky on dervs? Here it is:http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/b...t10472307.html. It is a fairly helpful guide, especially for those new to the ways of the derv. I also think you should check out this website, which is a compilation of quite a few commonly used builds, http://www.gwpvx.com/PvX_wiki.
Now, some general advice. Once you get used to the game a bit, you will realise that being on the frontlines and self healing/healing in general don't usually go well together. It is best left to specialised healer heroes/henchies. However, if you do like that combination, then there is a derv build that is applicable to this situation. Dervs are probably the only class that can heal and be frontline at the same time. The build in question revolves around the avatar skills, Avatar of Dwayna. Just pop a couple of attacking teardown skills like wearying strike and some flash enchants like the Zealous renewal you have on your bar. When you have found the right combination of enchants and teardowns, and have worked out the timings, you can be a very powerful healer as well as a solid frontline character.
Hope this helps.

instanceskiller has told everything important, but I'll give one more idvice.
Start in Prophecies and spend a little time in pre-searing Ascalon.
It's VERY easy there, no death penalty, max. 2 ppl in group.
Pre is very good place to learn the basics of GW.
Or try more toons and all campaigns, you'll understand yeach preffesion better and repeating tutorials will help to acclimatize to GW.
When you think you understand GW a little bit more, return to your derv.

Avatar of Melandru can be very helpful. More health, condition removal for you and party in earshot, armor against elemental. Otherwise flash enchants some way to remove them. In general you do not need more than two attack skills and one is usually enough. Take along hench or hero warrior for heavy single target damage, you worry about AoE. Should work fine.

Since you're from Germany, you might want to take a look at a very nice German community over at http://www.wartower.de/news/ (I'm assuming you speak German :P) There is also a German version of GuildWiki here: http://www.guildwiki.de though I don't know how complete it is.

Oh it is! Category:Abbreviations
Whenever you don't know some word or abbr. simply type /wiki THAT WORD.
If wiki doesn't know it, it's not a GW abbr. and Google will help.
