Well... we're video gamers. lol. Even the girls are debating the attractiveness and body type. I was surprised that it seems like most of them want "sexier" assassins. XD.

The assassins are fine as they are. Who wants to see an assassin running around with a frame like their warrior counterparts, or even bustier than that? Leave the busty stuff to the Ritualists.

I've not read through all 7 pages so sorry if this has been mentioned:
That assassin picture I think is actually going to be one of the NPC/story line characters. Hence the "playable" assassins don't necessarily have to look anything like her.
Don't quote me on that though

My girlfriend WAS excited to play an assassin because she thought the ones from Anet's site/box art looked really nice.
Then after the character creation screen and watching her fight, her response was more or less, "she looks like a stick flailing in the wind." and when she saw her in her underwear...we both kinda looked at each other, went "omg" and threw her clothes back on.
The thing is, people want to play characters that are "pretty." My girlfriend and other female gamers I know will only play on characters that look pretty, or can be made to look pretty. IE, dressed up with nice armor...which after looking through some of the PVP armors that covered her entire body, my gf thought she didn't look that bad. it's not that they want to look/be like them or anything, they just prefer asthetics over functionality/practicality
the drawn assassin IS pretty. the in game assassin, while athletic and sporting an appropriate body type for what she does, is NOT pretty (to the majority) and will not be a very popular choice overall.

why wouldn't this post die.... its obvious Anet is not going to change an entire model a few weeks before shipping. They wouldn't even change that stupid run after all that complaining since the first beta event.
Its time for people to realize that there are different types of body build in this world... I just came back to Hong Kong recently, and trust me, there are ALOT more people with the female assasin build then that porn start ranger build.

It's a fantasy game. People would rather look at 'beautiful' soft bodies rather than realistic ones. The female assassin model is an accurate representation of what an east asian assassin would be built like - it just doesn't conform to human standards of beauty. Is this a bad thing? From a realism standpoint no, but are people interested in realism, or eye candy? I have a feeling that people prefer the female monk's ridiculous figure to anything that you'd see in reality.
Peace,

And now, for something completely different!
You know what really pisses me off about the assassin on the front page? Look at all the knives she's carrying. Either she's a terrible thrower or she's out to assassinate an entire army.

If the figure of the Assassin will deter people from playing that Profession, as well as the "difficulty" to actually use them correctly, and turn the Assassin into the next Mesmeresc profesion, then so be it. I really don't mind not having to sort through the trash when looking for something I may want/need in a party.
So if this deters everyone, all the better. All that will be left are people who like/know how to play the class. Usually better than some idiot hooked on "OMGZOR SHE HASZORS [email protected]!" I fear that Rits will become exactly that... sad really. I can see it now... "MY RIT HAS BIGGER BREASTS THAN YOU!" or... "ALL ELEMZ ANZ RITZ FEMS DANCEZORS WIZ YOS CLOTHE OFF!12Leett!21331"

I know I'm breaking my new years resolution of not using the word "breast" in an online forum post...but as long as we're on the subject of ritualists...
I generally reserve all judgement on character models or concept art in this game, or any other, however, I do have one big issue (no pun intended, you'll see why in a second) with the ritualist. She does seem a little...err...huge, in the uh...chest-al area. Like huge. Like...what you see when two hot air balloons crash. With a chest that size, it's no wonder they're ritualists: they're only at equalibrium when they're leaning forward, forehead to the ground.
Like I said, I'm known to play a game more for it's content than for the general aesthetics of the game avatars. However, in this one instance, it might be wise for ANet to scale down the ritualist bust by a few bucket-sizes.

Female Assassins don't need Siphon Strength and Siphon Speed...they need Siphon Breast.
(I'm perfectly fine with the current female Assassin physique, but that doesn't mean I can't take cheap shots at her flatness like a horny immature boy~)

Actually the apparent size of the female "attributes" of ritualists does change with armour. The "starter" armour for the FPE did indeed make the rits look rather "unbalanced" as does their underwear. Therefore it is my conclusion that they are wearing pushup bras with some of their outfits. I've no doubt that ritualists will be the "new" elementalist for a little while, but then things will die down and they will all go back to their wammos.

When you look very closely, the assassin looks a bit like Gwen.
I personally think all this boobie talk is shallow and women unfriendly (I already knew that from the way you talked about the Elementalists and Ritualist). Soon you all will find out that it's not looks that count, and my lvl 20 Ass will pwn your ass.

I think it's the proportions that makes the assassins look like sticks, if you want bigger boobs, then get xbox and DoA Extreme beach volleyball. That game is BASED on boobs. I mean, Hitomi, an underage kid with jugs like Dolly Parton? Imagine an assassin with breasts like Dolly Parton, she wouldn't be able to crawl in ventilation systems. This is a game, not a playboy magazine.
Personally I think the assassin male looks to young. All those GTA feaks who started shooting people and all that crap cause they "played a mission from GTA". We might learn magic in real life, people shadow stepping because they "used a skill from Guild Wars"
I saw a documentary about female appearances some time ago. Models and actresses that looked gorgeus made "standards" and rolemodels in appearance for young girls. Even games did that, lara croft, dead or alive to name a few. In the later Tomb Raider games they made Lara look more "human" if we say so. Alot of young boys started wanting unrealistic girls.
Anyway, it should be like it is now, and people who don't play assassin females because the size of the chest isn't of their liking,It is such an immature behaviour, and they should be ashamed for the rest of their lifes and don't play any games anymore.

I'm suprised and somewhat bothered by the fact that this is such a big issue for so many of you.
Just curious, is this the OP by any chance?
