Another great skill has to be Way of the Fox... It takes some getting used to but really finishes off an opponent.
Or Unseen Fury if you have a disciplined team.

Um, Golden Phoenix Strike has nothing to do with energy management...you're either thinking of Black Lotus Strike or Golden Lotus Strike.

Shadow of Haste
Impale
Falling Spider
Im surprised no one has mentioned Impale. I like it.
My current build looks like this,
Shadow of Haste from well out side the aggro range.
Run in with Impale,
Iron Palm, Okay damage, doesnt miss, causes knock down of hexed targets.
Falling Spider on the now knocked down foe.
Twisting Fangs when they get back up. Impale kicks in on the dual attack.
Sit and pressure target (if they arent dead) untill SoH wears off and you are teleported away. Usually outside of spell range. Hit heal. Repeat. 20 sec cycle I think.
There are faster and more damaging builds but this one works for me. I usually work in tandem with a Elementalist. If I havent killed the target the next damage spike will. Also the target has poison, bleeding and deep wound on them in less than 2 seconds. If they try to kite I have the 25% speed bonus from SoH. My SoH lasts about 14 seconds I think, so at the end I have 6 seconds of downtime. I use this to pick my next target, support the back line and heal if I need too.
This is my team player build, PvE or some PvP situations. It won't work 1 on 1.

This mainly applies for PVE for me but...
1) AoD
2) Recall
3) Escape
If I'm monking, I try to invite assassins as much as I can. They're just as neglected in PVE as much as mesmers are and I try to give them some love. But if their bar does not consist of one of these three skills (or if they tell me they're some crazy barrage Assassin), I give 'em a boot.

well i hate to burst your bubble, but barrage sins are pretty good in pve, due to the massice gang-banging of the monsters in the aggro. and so many people complain of the low armor, well now, they dont get hit harldy ever!!
but i prefer to assassinate the higher priority targets as the groups takes aggro

It doesn't burst my bubble at all. No expertise, lower over all damage, lower elemental defense... I'll certainly be picking an Assassin Barrager over a Ranger one,
