Assassins are good in the right hands when it comes to PvE
MOST assassin players fail horribly. However, when you get up to the higher missions/arena's of the game the good assassins will shine above the others.

I started an assassin about 3 weeks ago and after beating both factions and nightfall I would say they perform pretty well, though I've found the most common PvE chain, Jagged/Wild/DB, gets kind of boring after a while. If you bring a shadow stepping skill, you can be a big help by ganking backline enemy casters. Just make sure you are never the first to aggro.
If you really want to wreak havoc, set up one of your necro heroes as Orders it will really help you out in the later areas.

This is a case where the character really depends on the person behind it. I suggest doing some research, check out the "beginner assassin guide" and "fav sin builds" threads on the front page of this forum, and figure out how to really play the class before you start out. It isn't easy, but with some skill you can do some crazy stuff on an assassin. (For going through factions I'd suggest going to NF early and go /D for mystic regen and defensive skills, afflicted hurt)
Good luck if you decide to make one, Assassins are probably the most fun class to play, but also one of the hardest next to mesmers.

Can't agree more, Samurai. It's really fun to experiment with them but also requires skills like a Mesmer. Heck it is the melee counterpart of a mesmer! compare skill colors, primary deity, etc. and you can see it is an off-shoot of the mesmer. Rits, on the other hand, are a rather Twilight-eske combination of the holy monk(light) and the Defiling necromancer(dark) with a touch of Ranger(spirits).

they've been introduced to the wrong continent at the beginning, exploding enemies barraging AL70 meleeists are evil , ppl in pve think that sins are like tanks, so they treat them as one, so again, with AL70 they tend to die easily as they are squishy

It's simply a matter of opinion. If you really love everything about how Sins work in PvE and enjoy every aspect of them, it will be fine.
However if you think the opposite, then don't make one.
Sins are fine in PvE in the right hands, but are sometimes discriminated because of being too easy to kill under certain circumstances.
My advice, check out the builds around here, and compare them with the other professions. If you like what you see, make one.
