Some people are convinced you are doing the same. I'm not. I believe you are just giving them as you see them giving to you... which sometimes can just make things more awkward, whether justified or not.

I'm better at expressing myself in written language than verbally... but I have certain failures in either circumstance. *Holds up medical papers*

4. What occured to me today has to do with both #3 above and what I said earlier about always thinking in extremes (leet vs sux). It's that, many of the responders on here seem to take any discussion of why or why not a person would use a weapon/skill/build etc., as a discussion of which is "best". In this particular case, if I say I don't use a skill - for whatever reason - they take that as meaning that I don't think the skill is good or that I think that some other skill is "better".
|
People also insist on weapons being perfectly max damage, 15^50, +30hp Fortitude. They are perfectionists, and won't settle for things merely being "alright" or "good" when there are "great" builds available. It is a fairly common mentality around here, but in some respects it isn't entirely unjustified. More is always better, and it is only by choice that we settle for less.

If you fall into group #3 - I can only clarify that I did not post that build on here to get "help". This is not because I think the build
is great or can't be improved. It's also not that I think I'm so great, I don't need any help. No, it's just simply what I said - I wasn't asking for help,
I was actually just simply posting it.
|
There are two reasons why people post builds here:
Either to #1. Get help improving it... or #2. Help others by getting them to use it.
More people seem to be assuming you're going for #2 than #1, and are objecting because, compared to other builds out there, the one you post is of lesser functionality... which might suggest you are trying to distract people from using "better" builds. It is a somewhat convoluted line of thinking, but that is my estimate of what is going through their subconscious.

When I say, for example, that I don't use Critical Defenses because it doesn't stay up consistently (for me) and has too long a recharge, that's all I'm saying.
|
Critical Defenses does have too short a duration, I agree on that. And it will invariably go down if many of the enemy are using block-skills themselves.
That said... it does what it is meant to do very well, and proves more useful in practice than most of the alternatives (Flashing Blades and Shroud of Distress, for instance). It isn't as good as people say IF you're going up against tons of spellcasters... but in a packed melee-on-melee zone it is downright godly.
It also is the ONLY effective cover enchantment for Critical Agility, incidentally. ^_^

Last I checked it wasn't, but it might be now. Since it holds its origins in two words though, it can't exactly be erroneous for me to continue to consider it such, can it?
Anyway...
