Why would you buy Obby armor or use a Cystalline Sword? It's because people have nothing better to do.

It used to be for armor switching.
Also, certain items are pve only, and thus, if my pve monk is better equipped than your pvp monk, than why shouldn't i use her?

PvP chars offer a lot more when it comes to fine tuning, being able to swap runes etc on a moment's notice and without any monetary investment. You don't have to look (uber) cool to prevail, after all.

bingo thats why I do it.
I took the time to invest in my sin and a couple of other chars for PvP which also set them up for gen PVE, allthough you can own in PVE with 3 sup runes, i just got bored and wanted to look cool while PvPing since that is about all i do now in guildwars.
