fairly new to the game
So I am fairly new to the game. well, I bought it when it came out, but my old computer couldn't run the game. but the computer I just recently bought can so I started playing it more. I just had one question, and sorry if it's been asked before and I missed the thread. What is a good secondary profession to start out with for an assassin? It's in factions. Haven't gotten around to installing nightfall or EotN yet :/

I would recommend warrior, elementalist, or monk. Monk and elementalist allow some farming later in the game, and warrior may have some attacks/buffs that you might like to use. On my sin, I actually don't use my secondary. I have one, but don't use it. The assassin is good enough on its own.

I go monk, mostly for mending touch, restful breeze and res. Don't even need to put any points since restful breeze lasts as long as the recharge.

I believe restful breeze and healing touch are Nightfall skills are they not? and I don't think an assassin should worry about rez, if people are dieing, you would be the first to go. I like to go ele, you can get a weapon mod to change your domage from piercing to elemental (ice, fire) and [skill]conjure frost[/skill] and [skill]conjure flame[/skill] will help you deal a lot of extra damage and that is what assassin's were made for, huge damage spikes.

I personally wouldn't recommend Monk, lest you tread down the path of [Healing Breeze] and [Orison of Healing]. Assassin self-heals are more than sufficient to keep you alive.
I would recommend going Warrior or Ranger for some of the Increased Attack Speed stances such as [tiger stance] or [tiger's fury]. Elementalist are quite useful for previously mentioned reasons regarding conjure element spells. However, you would need to sacrifice zealous dagger tangs (energy gain per hit) for dagger tangs offering elemental damage, not to mention it'd require some investment in the attribute to really see it shine.

I'd install NF pretty quickly as this one skill will hugely alter your game.
Anyway as mentioned the options are really pretty endless and all have there advantages and weaknesses hence rather than state the obvious or my personal preference I'll relate personal experience.
I went A/Mo on my Sin purely for the heals.
Fact is, while early PvE is a bit of a cakewalk, as a Sin you can be hugely dependent on others to keep you alive while you learn the ropes. It's a lot better than it was but Sins are still pretty low on the priority list for healing/protting while being pretty high on the priority list for grabbing mob aggro due to the initially low AL and melee proximity.PuG healers will often largely ignore you in favor of other melee classes, especially warriors, and expect you to handle your own heals.
This becomes far more of an issue once you leave starter island and imo it is worth being aware of.
As such I found going A/Mo hugely beneficial in this regard but would comment that once attaining the ability to change secondaries the other options were far more advantageous and I haven't gone A/Mo since hence I view the option as largely only being worthwhile early on.

OK here's the best advice I can give you
1. Read the guide.
2. Until you can get the necessary skills to become an effective Dagger Sin, stick to Deadly Arts as your main attribute... as this
[dancing daggers][fox fangs][twisting fangs]
will probably be your combo. DDaggers is your best source of sustained damage early-game.
EDIT:
Stay away from [healing breeze] as NPC Monks carry it too (and they don't stack). [shadow refuge] is a better option in this regard as you can trigger the last boost with a ranged weapon. Coupled with [shroud of distress], it should keep you alive if you're careful enough. [bane signet] is great to pick up though, worth going /Mo for by itself.

Please stop... Tigers fury is garbage of an ias for sins. Assassin self heals are laughable at best. Healing Breeze is trash because if a sin is taking damage they are probably already running away making restful breeze much more appealing. And orison is just garbage...
But read the guide its not half bad.
