Default Idea for AFK Legendary Survivor

Not sure if this is the right place for this thread but I was playing through gate of madness today and realized that the portals keep spitting out enemies so if you wanted to you could close all but one portal then set up your heroes where that enemy will patrol. I decided to try this in HM and I closed all but the one that has the torment claw next to it and let it go for a while... it went well but after doing some math i found that you would need to be afk for 5 days just to get the title and i don't really want to leave the game run that long so I decided that i would try closing all except the portal with the Titan abominations because you can use a Berserker Scroll to get 3x exp which means that every wave of them would give you about 900-1000 xp which means that it would take just about 1 day afk to get it but my heroes were overwhelmed because as soon as you killed the Titan Abominations, causing the pain titans to come out of them, the next 2 Titan abominations were on their way. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas on hero builds or other techniques that could handle this because it would be great to be able to get this title in this way. Thanks in advance

I'm more interested in how he's planning to click scrolls while AFK. Also, first reply won the thread. Truer words won't be spoken here.

That's what I was thinking -- it wouldn't be AFK LS if exp scrolls need to be used. You would have to keep killing a foe within 30 seconds to make any use of those Berserker Scrolls.

Vote: Close thread too.

Couldn't the challenge missions be used for AFK LS? I know people AFK'd those for weeks to get the top score, so I'm guessing you as a bonder would be your best bet.

I don't think the thread should be closed just because you might think it isn't how the game "should" be played. If people want to do it this way then I say let them.

The part about clicking scrolls is true but you can just click the scrolls whenever you are at the computer and just leave your character there when you are AFK. Also it doesn't all need to be done with one method. You could leave this on overnight so you have a head start if you are farming vaettirs or just playing through the game.

AFK for 5 days and still be able to click scrolls? That in itself would be an achievement.

Kilroys takes less than half that? As does vaettirs?

Vaetirrs takes about 2-3h with LB scrolls, depending on how bad you are..

If you assume a monster gets killed within 30 seconds (not sure how likely that is) then you'd only need to click it once i.e. at the start when you set it up so you dont have to click it while afk. It may even mean that you pop back every now and then to check on it, even with glint afk you have to make sure you get back to pick up items and get chest.

Why is everyone around here so obsessed with closing threads? This place is already becoming a ghost town.

I was thinking of the end of the "Gate Too Far" mission but I checked wiki and it says that the portal stops spawning destroyers after a while.

Regarding survivor, if you got disconnected during this process would your whole party be killed or would it just map you out?

A humble suggestion that I have noticed before.

You get exactly 100k experience for a complete FoW run in NM; which is a faceroll with heroes.

So instead of gaining titles while AFK, why not just do 10 FoW runs back to back.

While this can easily get monotonous, it also has the plus side of being profitable. 2-4 Obby shards per a run, (maybe even an ecto from a banshee) along with rare possibilities of great drops from the end chest; this will fill your coffers for buying stuff for pay-for titles (drunk, sweets, party, treasure hunter).

EDIT: So as not to derail the OP, the following is a bit off-topic as it requires playing, and as the OP suggests ways of AFK'ing survivor! But as soon as its realized that the 2.5 hours spent trying to figure that out, one could have actually gotten LS3 I submit the following alternative:

Do the quest "A New Escort" in HM (see wiki for details) and kill 12 dragon moss in ~45s with R/A (see pvxwiki for details)...2.8k exp per run clean (no scrolls) -- 8.4k per run with lightbringer scrolls.

So time for some maths -- starting with 0 exp, meaning you just died, you need 1.337M for LS3. Assuming you don't want to use scrolls, you need 477.5 runs at let's say 1 minute each on average with zone time, etc., so that's 477.5/60, or just about 8 hours of straight runs. Granted your eyes will be bleeding by then and you'll want to uninstall GW, but it will be done by god! You should never die doing this run unless you forget to SF before you run in, but even then you should survive a few hits (I have stormbound armor and a +10/plants shield, but w/e)...so just use Lightbringer scrolls to cut that time down to 1/3, or about 2.5 hours! At 8.4K exp per run with LB scroll, you'll need 159 scrolls and they currently cost 1.6k at scroll trader (as of 5 minutes ago).

So total time and cost to LS3 is 2.5 hours and 254K gp. More than likely though you'll want to go pee or eat, so figure on 3-3.5 hours until completion. Same can be said for many of these methods -- can you imagine actually doing 10 straight back-to-back h/h runs in FOW?? I would rather pull my fingernails out! Anyway, out of that many dragon moss runs, you should be able to pull a decent shield or two, and a butt load of plant fibers (dragon roots salvage into them), which will help offset the costs of the scrolls.

Just an idea. Good luck!

Wow, I'm surpised there's still viable AFK method - ANet generally nerf everything that spawns repeatedly, to prevent afk farming of XP, gold, items etc. I guess they missed the XP on this one...

Yeah. I farm Vaettirs when event items are dropping - and I got Legendary Survivor on my farming character pretty much by accident. A little over 3.5 hours, no scrolls, I wasn't even trying.

Halloween is coming up too - repeatable "Every Bit Helps" quest is one of the best ways to farm ToT bags (320/hr or more)... and also an easy way of getting legendary Survivor. It's comparitively slow, but if you're farming ToT bags anyway... I got another Legendary Survivor from that last year (along with about 50K cash profit, 14 stacks of ToT bags, some ectos... and 1 ruby from a very generous skele). It's 100% risk-free survivor if you "cash in" the quest on a different character than the one you use for farming, and it's hugely profitable, instead of costing you money!

it actually takes from 3-4 hours to get leet with lightbringer, 7-8 hours with HeroScrolls. (Rock candies can make vaettir round's twice as faster do to recharge effects and speed effect.)

PS: And yes, If your oging to be afk for days or long time, wh need's scrolls, scrolls are for a Fast XP rate, but if your gonna take your time, normal XP can handle it, You know if I get like 30k xp for affking 1 hour at the gate, You could accumulate time and repeat. Remember Kids, Scrolls are optional JUST TO GET FAST XP THEYRE NOT OBLIGATORY, the Leet Survivor has spoken.

Guildwarsguru is a privately owned forum, any rights a user has are granted by us and equally can be removed by us when we feel the situation is right. Nobody here has a right to say what they want, post what they want or do what they want. "Liberty of Expression?" no lol

Contribute to the community by suggesting taking 5 days instead of a few hours to complete a title? You can't be serious.

So I set this up again in NM this time and its been going for about an hour and the Scroll is still up. I did some math and it looks like it'll be done in about 26 hours.... i know to some people this seems like I'm just over complicating this but honestly I think it is definitely a viable and easy way to get this title. 15 min set up, 800g and leaving the game running for a day in my opinion is not all that complicated. Thanks for all the comments and as long as there are no problems during the time I leave this running, I'll post some screen shots and maybe a video to help people who are interested in trying this.

*Update: Woke up and saw that my old laptop i was using overheated during the night so I set it up again on my newer desktop computer and I'm at ~500,000 experience so I'll put up instructions and screens tomorrow after I hit Legendary

You can't compare solo farming with afk runs. Solo farming is more dangerous where as afk runs means you have the free to time to do something else.

Since I have a busy schedule (unlike some of you), I can just leave this thing running and go do something else. I have multiple PCs and multiple accounts which means I can work on multiple legendary survivors AT THE SAME TIME while sleeping. The fact that you can afk while doing this is a BIG plus.

The talk link above says you can use a scroll of rampager's insight too, to shorten the time.

Despite my join date, I haven't really played a lot. Solo farming seems dangerous and boring, so something like this (or maybe the 10 FoW runs, one a week) is something that seems within reach to me. So it's something I'll look into doing. Thanks!
