Default Can't decide!

Looking to get back in the game after many years. I can't decide between a Mo/E using Smiting and Fire Magic to do heavy damage with some heals thrown in or a R/N and get an army of pet/minions to kill for me while I snipe from safety. Any opinions?

Feel free to mess around with smite 'n fire and pet 'n minions as you learn to play better. Why not make both a monk and a ranger? Later on you'll be able to change your secondary to whatever you want and back at any time.

Rangers have little synergy with having minions and can't produce the energy for them well enough to be worth it.

One of these days you'll tease yourself about wanting a monk with fire spells.

mo/e was a combo that used to be used for the glyphs, but not much anymore....e/mo is used for healers sometimes now.

I had a r/n, was fun at lower levels, however; never had enough energy to make enough minions to do anything useful--ultimately just used some of the curses (parasitic bond type) to help with healing.....n/r works much better--I have one and having a pet with my minions was pretty good as well as getting the energy back when they die.

I would say play what you wish, you have more than one slot so you can make more than one character and you can always delete one if you really dont like it!
and as Cuilan mentioned, you can change your secondary when you get to the appropriate spot (check out the wiki for more information).
