You're all wrong... It's so obvious. Go to Kama.. Hell, I'm selling a zhed. And all I get are 1500-1700e offers even though the last few to sell were around 2ke. My point? NONE! I HATE YOU ALL!!!!
Just kidding ...
The point is.. There are not a lot of buyers who are willing to fork out lots of money for them, all it is is kids who want to pay the bottom end -250e price for things. The number of them is quite high, but it doesn't change the fact that if you add more pets increasing the supply, those people will see that and immediately start offering WAY less because the supply has been increased.. Even though Supply/Demand hasn't changed, as adding more will increase demand due to the fact that people will immediately expect prices to drop off steeply.
If they add more pets, trading/selling highend mini pets is going to become an extremely costly venture for anyone unfortunate enough to have one in their posession when the addition occurs.
In my honest opinion.. Add new rare pets. Make a new competition, and add a new rare mini pet to the game. And Unded Abaddon, or Unded Grenth or Balthazar. I don't really care what, just add a new extremely limited pet to the game.
Adding more of the same will destroy the mini economy, anyone who disagrees with me needs to look at what's happening now, and what happens when you increase supply to things in this game. (Hint... the offers permanently go to the tank)
Rant. Over.

That's true when they dramatically increase supply, and in the short term, it would be partially true. However, look what happened when they dropped a bunch more yeti, naga, oni, zhed, shiroken and visu into the game. Prices fell for a little while, then equaled out, then went A LOT higher. Unless they add 100+ of each, I doubt any long-term changes would occur.

well, I love the Shiroken, the only problem is he's pretty small, and being that rusty red, it can be hard to see him at all.
two things -- in page one, someone stated that no high-end minis have been taken out of the economy recently. I personally know of one person in a very famous guild who had his account hacked, and lost several high-end minis. This happened about a week ago.
second thing, if Anet feels the need to get into another mini sweepstakes, I really hope they introduce new minis, rather than devalue some stuff some people (ahem......) had to work very hard to be able to afford to buy themselves.
realistically though, I don't see them doing anything like this at all. The age of big contests and sweepstakes are over (other than the Wintersday/Halloween art contests). This game is past the point of promoting it for big player increases.

I would luv to see this happen...tbh those minis are not realisitcally obtainable via gameplay....which imo is a shame..one needs to either powertrade, have gotten from promotion...(yeah I live in US so no chance of that), or been exceedingly lucky to receive as gift from someone who meet one of the former conditions. None of which tbh have much to do with actually playing the game.
For the few that would cry, thousands would rejoice...and it would definately breathe new life into the Deep and Urgoz.

I appreciate the responses here, and it seems like most of you would rather see new limited minis rather than an increase in previously released sets.
What would the effect(s) be to the prices and circulation of existing limited minis if a new set were released?

I for one would love to see that happen. I'm a great fan of those areas and I'm sure people would be more willing to do them if there was a chance of a mini at the end of it. Heck, look at how many people do UW for a mini Dhuum/Smite Crawler (and no, it's not all about the value of the mini for some of them -gasp-).
Essence, I totally agree that it would bring new life into those very overlooked areas and surely with WoC coming it'd be even more fitting to update the end chests in Urgoz and The Deep?

If they give me a way to get an IG, I'd be happy. Otherwise, Anet better add the Twisted Bark to the 6th years. >.>

they are basically the same, best option is putting it in endchest but with rly low chance to get it(1/100th the chance of chance u get a polar bear)
So this means like 2 ig per year if farmed daily by tons of people, should not decrease prices on the pets.(hardly)

Do not add the same minipets again. Adding new ones will slightly deflate the current market because the interest and money will go elsewhere.
Current Highend Minis will decrease in value slightly.

The idea on new mini pets dropping would be nice - Deep and Urgoz would be good ideas - just do like Mallyx where you get a mini of the boss. Heck do like UW and add gold versions of others as well, and add to DoA, Deep, Urgoz, even Sorrows Furnace would be fun. Just have gold and green minis of the bosses and sub bosses added. It would be fun to see that for the dungeons in EoTN as well. Just make them extremely rare.

Agree with the above idea, ideally they'd be about as rare as Mini Smites and Mini Dhuum, drop rate could be adjusted approximately for difficulty to ensure that miniature drops per hour are about the same, i.e. the easier/faster the dungeon/elite area the lower the drop rate.

Prices would fall gradually if new limited minis were added. Many would have to sell before they could buy. A lot of people would be looking for a quick sell so they will lower B/O's to get the sell. Soon the lower B/O becomes the standard price, then more people will offload theirs which in turn lowers the price again...and so on.
Looking at losing 10-15% on the higher limited minis and upwards of 25% on the med to low minis over the space of 3-6 months.

Since you're asking - I would like to see a mini-trader and a mini-maker. Have the trader prices reflect the rarity of the mini-pet, but allow them to be bought with Z-coins. I would also like to see a mini-maker in the same mold as the festival hat maker - you present him with a mini and it is then kept in his storage, able to be made for any character on your account.
However, the major difference with these two NPC's would be that the mini-pet would be customized to your account, therefore unusable by any other player. That way, players who have no desire to farm ectos or armbraces can play through the z-mishes to obtain the minis they want and those minis can only be used by that player and dedicated to his HoM.

Would the prices would recover over time or remain at the lower bounds?
Do collectors give preference to familiar characters or creatures as minipets? For example, the Ghostly Hero is not a limited mini, but the number in circulation is small enough (and price high enough, have seen 1500e+xxx arms) that he probably counts. Would a collector who has not gotten involved in Heroes' Ascent be likely to purchase the mini, particularly at the cost of selling more familiar PvE minipets?
