Default Tyrian Sickles

I remember, long lo time ago, these things used to be of great value. Now we have the fancy inscription version to satisfy the masses, and talk of the original has virtually disappeared.

I recall WTS/WTB threads where the non-max blue Tyrian Sickle would sell for extraordinary amounts. Do people still collect them? Are they still as rare as they used to be?

What's the best one you've come across? The best I've found was a 6-26 r8 with no damage modifier. Other than whites it's the only one I've ever had drop.

Why, do they drop purple / gold now? If so I might have to become a HM addict until the game gives me a nicer one.
