If there is any divine aura or very exclusive perks like the original Guild Wars then I'll pick Guild Wars 2 up right away. I'm probably going to wait for it come out because like others I might be busy with real life activities. I just play the original for fun, don't really grind anything.

I'm still considering getting GW2 solely for the aforementioned goal of hitting the market early with a chance of investing in potentially nerfed items as was the case with unconditionals, no req gold staves, q7s and crystallines back in 2005... However I too am quite dubious as to the extent of this type of rare, exclusive content in the sequel and expect GW2 to be a lot more standardised and generic, like WoW.
Judging by the ongoing trend; from the introduction of Green items, followed by inscriptions and the amendment of the game code to discontinue req7 drops and largely limit req8s, the developers seems to be aiming at a reward system which grants people rare items through the merit of pure gametime and grinding...
Although this may appeal to some people, I am more of a casual player and mostly enjoy collecting unorthodox, preeminent items rather than incessantly grind my way to some obscure piece of weaponry with pre-set, albeit superior, stats as is the case in WoW.
As for the GW1 market, it appears some allegedly lost items are floating back onto the market and I expect the quantity of oldschool rares to spike in the near future as people offload their collections in anticipation of the GW2 release. I hopeto remain occupied in the coming months if my conjecture of a "Second Renaissance" in the oldschool market proves correct.
Prices are also likely to drop as the supply of such items is largely stable due to the fact that they are either artificially limited as is the case with High End minis or simply no longer drop as is the case with uninsc Crystallines and req7s. Therefore any price changes will predomoinatly stem from demand factors which are likely to be negative as players in all market prepare for a transition to GW2 and begin to invest their wealth in terms on money and time into the new game (titles, minius, etc).
This is held by a pretty strong assumption that collectors actually relinquish their collections rather than hoarding them which may well prove erroneous as many have no need to raise money by offloading items and have the ecto anyway.
The bottom line is, I doubt I'll be progressing to GW2, especially if I'm not convinced of the existence of an elite market by the time the initial, exploratory stages of the game come to an end.

Jason pretty much summed up my thoughts....I'll wait till release and see how the game play is. If it is anything like WoW I will be 100% uninterested because I don't have the time or patience for grinding.

I was going to mention that I was worried about being like WoW, but figured that was asking to get flamed. The developers are definitely steering away from the original Guild Wars concept or so it seems.

i know this Pleikki... i watched all the videos of the people playing there... i am asking if he is one of the very limited amount of people who actually got to play... and as from what i saw in those videos. none of them got to play for the amount of time he is claiming. this is why i am asking where he got to play at...
"Somewhere else. i don't remember what was said in the thing i signed, so.... whatever, its gunna be awesome. it actually change my mind about not playing the game when released. "
and like i suspected you didn't get to actually play the game... or you would know exactly where you played it at. seeing as how there isn't a site you can go to and play it. nor is there some thing you can sign to get to play... you are just purely speculating on how the game play will be.

I think he may have signed an NDA aka non disclosure agreement. If that's the case you can stop trying to phish for info cause he ain't giving you any and you can lay your suspicions to rest.

@bytime... i am not fishing for info. its funny how both you and pleikki think that. on the contrary i am calling his bluff. if he played the game he would be able to say where and when he played it. because i know 100% that if i played gw2... then i would be able to tell you exactly the time and place i played it... and he can't... so i am calling his bluff. the point of my posts were to discredit his claims. i can't stand fake people who lie just to make themselves seem cool. it is disgusting. at 30 years old i have seen my fair share of them.
if you are gonna come on a forum and start talking about how you've already played a game that isn't out yet... then you better be ready to defend those claims and explain when and where you played it... or else... DONT MAKE FALSE CLAIMS... you just make yourself look like one of the few million 9 year old kids in GW that we have all grown to dislike, and they are the main reason why the majority of the players stopped playing with pug and only play with heroes...
also i am in no way trolling or flaming anyone. i am just not happy with the thread posters need to lie about playing a game that isn't out yet.
also like i posted a few posts up... the people who did get to play GW2 at the convention WERE NOT allowed to play for an hour and a half... it is just so sad that some people have to lie to be cool...

Dood, u need to chill. if u read my first comment on this i simply was replying to what ppl were saying... that they hoped it wasn't just gunna be a crappy mmo like WoW. That was my intention
i said that i've played it- to not sound like a person who only has seen what is online through videos and whatnot. And i have played it. And its amazing! i don't have to "defend" myself to some -whatever- just because u can't believe that i've played it. believe it or not, there are things that happend that u have know idea about. and no i Don't have to explain anything. i'de rather respect my agreement then to look "Cool" to some internet people. ....contrary to what u were saying.
sry @cosyfiep, i had to say that. no more on the matter i promise.
================================================== =======
That said(back to the point), like most of u i really hope there is a 'high end' market with the coming release. and almost positive they will. honestly thats one of the main things that has kept many of u guys and much more still playing. its like something to do in the game when u have nothing to do type of thing for me. Those guys at Anet are pretty smart and i'm sure they realize this. they couldn't leave this old system behind... ugh i hope not!

I don't think I'll stick with GW1, but I highly doubt I'll play GW2. It looks like they took everything enjoyable about GW1 and deleted it.
Secondaries? Gone
Monks? Gone
If weapons are all "inscribable" and common like in GW1 I definitely will not be getting it. That being said I might log on GW1 periodically after GW2's release.

I think I'm going to go back to gw1 for a while just for codex arena, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it wasn't dead on a non-zaishen day after taking a year break. As for trading, I have UAX which is all I cared about, so I'm probably going to just give away everything.

As a former 8v8 prot monk, while I'll always love being the most influential member of my team, taking away monks is the best thing that could possibly happen to gw. In pve, people will have to actually work together, and in pvp the game won't devolve into spike and spike prevention being the only thing that ultimately counts. It also frees up two to three player spaces, allowing for 5v5 being possible allowing for more matches and an easier process for starting guilds.
Removal of secondaries is pretty sad, but secondaries was always about emanagement or defense anyways. The main exception being for mesmers, who frequently didn't even use their secondaries. Emanagement is no longer a focus, and everyone has defense. Furthermore, gw2 will add things of course that you will like, if you give it some time and wait for the public beta.
Edit: besides, if you like support just roll a guardian, they're essentially monks, just not as insane.

He doesn't have to explain anything to you. He signed an agreement that says he can't anyways. I think already said that. Your attempts to call him out are futile.
On topc:
Hard to say at this point whether I'll continue on with GW1 when GW2 is released. Depends on how much I may or may not like GW2 among other things.

If gw2 is fun, I'll play it.
If it isn't I'm not gonna go back to gw1. But I assume gw2 is gonna be fun in some form or another. So.
