I've been saying this was gonna happen around GW2 release times for 2+ years now. Personally I exchanged almost all of my ectos for other items such as BU, consets, cash and diamonds / rubies / sapphires a month ago or so once they started to go up a bit. It was only a matter of time and anyone too dumb to realize that much deserved it! xD

They're likely to hit 8k trader value quite commonly over the new few weeks. But I don't expect any permanent recovery for months to come. Not until a bit after GW2 release and possibly not even then.

The price will keep cratering as people dump ecto for cash to fill HoM or help friends fill theirs, however after gw2 release the market will go into hyperinflation.

Would think that that would be offset somewhat by the legions of people forced to buy fugly armor for 50/50 though.

Yeh, that's where the hyperinflation kicks in.

Lots of people need materials for their armor. No one is providing the materials, ergo they need to buy from trader, ergo hyperinflation.

That or I'm a retard when it comes to economics and I misinterpreted the term 'hyperinflation'.

Sadly I'm one of those people. Always been a mats hoarder so all I have to worry about is the shards and ectos - and I think I have about 60 of the latter. Now the GW2 beta is over, hopefully enough people loved it enough to come back to GW briefly to boost their HoMs.

It is never going to be hard to buy ecto on the player market. Doesn't matter how few farmers there are there's an abundance of ectos floating around in people's inventories, UW farmers and not to mention bots.

Ecto just hit 6.5k at trader. Kinda regret keeping my wealth in ecto atm ><

Are people mass selling ecto to the mat trader or something? It's not hard to sell to players for higher than the traders buy price...

Its not worth it to sell to other players if u want to sell 100 or more ectos as fast as possible, these 300g more each ecto are peanuts if u have more than 12 in your chest, i guess^^

Ecto prices are back at 6.5k at the trader. I know that with GW2 now only days away the market has gone a bit mad, but I'm uncertain why ecto have dropped while shards have climbed. Is it purely supply and demand or has something more fundamental changed? Any insights?

People may be selling ectos as a way to get a final push for their HoM. Also, as far as I know, shards are in less supply.

My guess is this is just a temporary ecto price drop; after Gw2 release they will probably go up due to high demand but low actual supply of them. Few months after the release; prices will probably appease, and drop even lower due to selling difficulty in near-empty game.

I guess it really doesn't matter now main point ppl keep ecto because it's good commodity in gw. We can only hold so much gold. Diamonds / rubies / sapphires is another commodities but it will never over take ecto because the amount of ppl that is holding ecto far out match those. IMO if you want to put you money else where z-key i think is better choice.

Diamond/rubies/sapphire is for crafting armor and destroyer weapons for HOM point. If there any chance someone in GW2 want to come back to GW1 and work on title z-title pts is the fastest and easiest to work. Armor pts you need to get yourself half way to NF, destroyer you need to find someone to run to trade for you unless you do it yourself also require other material.

As for Bu and Cons although is a good choice but they take to much room in storage.

p.s For future investment medal of honor is not a bad choice either. War supplies go for 100k now or 17e convert back to MOH is only 10 so better stacking ^^ for storage space saver.

Isn't that rather dangerous? Surely the demand for oppressor weapons will die off after GW2 is released?

I did say in case ppl come back to work on HOM, of course not invest everything in. I still place most in ecto. Just like diamond, ruby, shapphire (usually only keep 1 stack when price is low). I think 2 or 3 stack of MOH isn't bad investment.
