Default Ecto suddenly tanking in price..

Thoughts on this? I don't remember the last time ecto has been at 17/100k. Saw 7.5k at trader at one point. Someone just unloading their wealth for giggles?

some dude on reddit recently posted he wants to "deal with the botters by macroeconomic warfare"... means selling tons of ectos to trader.

not sure if I'm allowed to post a link, so I'll just quote some of his statements

"Have you noticed how expensive the fiat currency known as ecto has gotten? That's due to botters, and everything else has scaled up accordingly. That makes most things unreasonably expensive for the common player."

"Watch how much less expensive everything gets over the next month while I destroy the botter economy with my ecto."

"I'm bringing us back to the gold standard."

"I can't give away all the details of the plan yet, but suffice it to say the economy will never be the same. I'll do a write up on it once I'm deeper into the plan."

To me this seems to be pretty stupid since botters would just not buy ectos anymore and sell their goods for gold/anything else instead. Or just buy tons of ectos now and get even more rich when price will get back to normal.

Anyway... This dude (& maybe some friends of him) might be influencing the ecto price currently ;-)

I srsly doubt that system.fan. I mean last year the ectos were the same rates, and we all know that its because people need alot of cash for the 9rings for 2weeks.

Even tho he claims it his fault, I doubt he can make that happen.
when event will be over people will buy ectos from mat trader until its less economical to buy from trader anymore.

I seriously doubt he/them has THAT much that they can break the gw economy
And people do spend alot of cash to get their e right now since ectos are low.thats just common sense.

thats my opinion atleast.

Hehe like I said IMO it's complete nonsense... But I wouldn't say it's impossible

A friend of mine was selling ~1500e before he quit to trader & lowered the price by ~2k for a while.
Of course you would need a ton of ectos to lower the price for a long time but well... there's still a lot of people running around with more than just a few stacks of arms :P

But yeah you both are completely right too - A lot off people are selling their ecto because they need gold for the games

That has actually happened in the past system.fan - there were guilds that manipulated the price of ecto to buy and sell items.

Like one and a half year ago a friend and I actually raised the price of obsidian shards to ~11k. I think obsidian shards might be easier to manipulate, because we didn't buy an insane amount, but this sure is possible. As long as the material traders pricing is determined on supply and demand, people can manipulate the market. If it now is by selling thousands of ecto to the trader or by buying stacks and stacks of obsidian shards.

~Em

P.S. I don't know for sure if someone has made the ecto price drop, but if (s)he did, (s)he sure took a good opportunity with the standard price drop of the anniversary event.

P.P.S. Apparently Kiki bought so many ecto's from the trader that she raised the price back to 10k for a while.

If Kiki wanted to liquidate her wealth, she could seriously mess with the GW economy I think.

Talking with a few of the heavy exploiters names shouldn't ever be posted on here. But If Wasabi ever came back with his Unded Kanaxai( so I was told he still had) may it rest in peace on an unused account, he would control the market as far as wealth, and there are quite a few users on here that rank 2-10 as far as GW wealth goes, they can hash how who ranks where, but knowing what Kiki has, and knowing there are others with more who currently plays, means there are quite a few people who could severely hurt the GW market by selling off a fraction of there stock. Personally i would rather hold on to what I have and just let it fade away with Guildwars over the next how ever many years

Ecactly what I was gonna say. She's part of the problem. Don't forget she also was a massive Pvp synced/match manipulator and real money seller.

Seems to me that whoever most likely by accidently placing his coffee mug on the ban hammer button a year ago banning people by the hundreds, and retrieving their accounts has vanished like the rest of Arena-Net's staff back to GW2 leaving GW1 to collect dust once again.

I probably shouldnt mention that "Big Blonde" was advertising for gw2sale.com only a month after the wave again, not too mention that probably nobody has been banned after the waves eversince.

And Kiki, well, he must be quite a sad person too mimic the Mctiggers in a 10 year overdue game, wanting to be on par with Tahiti Wang that neither has done anything good for the game, sync like a total idiot with 20-30 guilds with the exact same two-styled cape like you want some kind of establishment trade mark, or your self esteem validated from other players in a ESRB 12+ game by buying everything his heart desires and yet is not enough.

Yeah, same too you Wasabi.

If you are in a job interview and being asked what you did last 2 years and come up with ; "Ye bruv been a King Pin in a 11yo overdue game selling ingame currency" like you're some stock market elite i wish you the best of luck and suggest to have another look at yourself in the mirror.

*shrug / rant over*

Botters / Game abusers suck. End of story.

Some good things come out of it though; for example, I have Wasabi's Fire Cele Staff ; )

But really, we should give banned/abusing shitters less attention imo

I just find it hilarious to see so many players in Spamadan advertising 12e for 100K without bothering to look at the prices.... All this while I can (and did) buy 14e for 98K from the material trader.
I mean seriously... what is the point of advertising something to sell if anyone can easily get more bang for the plat from an official source?

But damn... Im broke now on multiple accounts in terms of platinum .
