In addition to what has been said up till now. As this is a new site with a new beginning. This also means that there is a much higher chance of getting those guild wars related forum features and functions you always wished for but never got on GWG and probably wont get on GW2G due to the mixed game nature of the site.

Ive started a new thread on the GWL for this. If you want new features, now is the time to request if they are possible;

I'd love to give gw2 guru a try but seeing how I still can't create an acc it is looking less and less appealing to me. Not the best time to have problems with registration curse!

anywho, I'll probably make two accounts (when I can), one on each site. We'll see how it develops.

I'm also saving some info/knowledge. I've archived 320 pages of posts on my computer by ripping the HTML and saving it.

I also agree with Dwayna that this was all very hasty. Not necessarily a good or bad thing. Just a fact.

Has someone saved the collections thread ? So many treasures we need to make damn sure don't disappear. I'd try but I'm still traveling and have no access to a computer.

I also agree that it was hasty. Had to be really, there's so much knowledge, info, support and data to try and save. What you see on legacy is far from the finished article.

When your house is burning down, you don't neatly organise your possessions in a box before lovingly loading them into a car... You just chuck it all in as fast as you can, then worry about organising it later. Time to do it carefully was a luxury we don't have.

And I can't envisage anyone at Curse rushing to save it all before it burns.

Next project for saving would be threads for farming locations (both specific loot and weekly Nick items), chestrunning and mapping help for hard to access corners.

Ill probably try to start the Nick item farming section tonight, as we might as well start from scratch to avoid out of date builds and methods (90% of them are "slap on a secondary Rit build and poop spirits at the foes until they die of boredom" anyways)
As for the other build and farming threads.. it may be a thought if all the really old junk should be taken with as 90% is completely outdated (600/smite fullclear UW anyone?). Maybe a fresh start would be advantageous, just to spare new users or old users wanting to try their hands at farming from some embarrassing attempts with outdated builds .

I'd really like the screenshot forum to be saved, armors and stuff (not to mention the project in community works that had all the dye combos, see thread http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/p...t10100290.html --wiki doesnt have half of them and then not nearly as complete as that old project was).
I am even less a techie than Max (potato is 3 steps above my ranking in computer --unless we are talking windows 98 ....rusty bent nail here).

and yes, I agree the dark background is harder on my old eyes, but the white background on guru2 is just as bad (it was worse when it started in '09).

I think what will happen with the first folks is what Inde and staff did here--site contributors--to distinguish those that have made an effort to get things moving and made big contributions to the site....so right now that is called staff.

If you pm me the links to the threads you'd like to save, I can grab the HTML for them and send it to you via email or something in a zip file or maybe have a place in a new forum to post the HTML. Maybe I'll post them on a website or a Dropbox or something.

Based on my brief explorations so far, it seems like personally having the HTML file and opening it in an internet browser on a personal computer seems like the best way to preserve the data.

I've tried it with some of
The collections thread. If I open the HTML file in Firefox on my personal computer, it literally looks like I'm on guild wars guru. But I'm not cause my URL is to my hard drive where I stored the file. The imgur images load (presumably because I'm internet connected and not because of guru still being around). This is the thing I can't confirm yet. Maybe I'll have to make a test post with a test image and delete the post after to make sure. I think that images will only load if internet connected. But it literally looks just like I'm on guru but I'm on my hard drive.

Will that work on guru? Guru has deeper than 3 links.

And is it free?

um, theres several programs. some are free and some are like 20-50bucks.
I guess with the paid ones you can pretty much do evertything.
No worries, it would just copy everything in a few clicks while your method probably takes a few days.
Have fun, ill go play some hearthstone ;p

Well my method is completely free and more fun because I get to learn new functions I don't normally use in work. I'm gonna continue my method. If someone else wants to try your way, then great.

The easiest way (but requires Linux) is using wget to download an entire site. Works like a charm!

I can't connect to Legacy anymore. Firefox says "The page isn't redirecting properly". Other browsers won't connect either.

EDIT: It's working now.

Max.

I can do a program to migrate thread. (dont use an existing one, i mean i can migrate from their database to yours)
(pm me max)

We can do better things like :
-Web automatic update of kamadan trade chat
-Connect forum pm to ig pm
-Make automated auctions, not via forum post. (like all auctions site you may know)
-Make a graphic on items, to know easily average price.
-Ask Max to become a CSS developper and to make a mobile app.

Guru was just a forum, the only things guru had, is that everybody was on it.
But guru was bad as community was good.
we have the opportunity to change.
dunno if its useful, but it can be cool.

Yeeeeees.

Cailin, the tech guys at legacy will want to speak with you.

Pm is incoming this evening. Or maybe we'll meet ingame later...

----------

What you see on legacy is only the beginning to get started. Apparently there will be custom everything. Designs, layout, functionality, integration etc.

Apparently it will be very advanced and everyone's ideas are welcome. By the community for the community.

But I can barely switch a pc on, so i'm not the man to ask about it.
