What is this thread?

Do you have questions about the existence of some specific gear in Guild Wars? Did such a thing ever exist at all? Can they still drop? This section and, hopefully, this thread gets a lot of traffic from those of us out there who look at a lot of drops, both our own and others' in trade. Let's help each other out and answer those nagging questions!

Most information on what's available can be found from the player-maintained wikis for the game.

When faced with, "does it exist?" type questions, it's always a good idea to check there first. Most of the time those are quite accurate about gear. However, they are both created and edited by players rather than any kind of official documentation. Sometimes, it turns out the wikis have it wrong.

Please refrain from posting if the only answer you have to someone's question here is to repeat to them what one of the game wikis says or link them to the wiki article. Anyone posting a question here has probably already checked the wiki articles for their answer. This thread is for situations where the information is not available or clear on the wiki and/or situations where you have reason to believe the wiki info might be wrong.

In an effort to avoid repeated questions and give folks a quick summary, I will try to keep a sort of table of contents here. Please do feel free to discuss and debate (politely) here. Hopefully this list will make it easier for folks who are not as interested in such back-and-fort to still find helpful answers here.

PLEASE do let me know if I have misunderstood or mislinked anything!

For each question asked there will be links, as necessary, like so.

Q: Do "Staff Wrapping of Energy Storage," "Staff Wrapping of Soul Reaping," and/or "Staff Wrapping of Fast Casting" exist at all?

- Conclusion: Uncertain, but they may not exist at all. Several people who see a lot of drops claim they've never noticed one. However, one person does claim to have seen one here, and Wiki claims all but Fast Casting do exist.
Q: Do Crystalline Swords with purple text and an inscription slot exist?
- first reply claiming to have seen one.

- Conclusion: They were a possible drop during the EotN preview weekend. They no longer drop in game, but some still exist.
Q: Do Tribal Axes exist in max damage gold without inscription slots?
- first reply claiming they exist from "The Mausoleum" only
- first reply claiming that they could exist from other sources
- Conclusion: So far, it doesn't seem that anyone knows of any other than the glitched Halloween 2010 quest.
Q: Do Summit Warlord Shields exist in Strength requirements, inherent or inscribable?

Q: Do any req. 8 Dragon Staffs exist?

Q: What attributes exist for inscribable Shadow Staffs?
- Luny's note - the curiosity here is that most multi-attribute staff and wand skins which appear with inscription slots are available for only the primary attributes. (Mesmers usually get Inspiration or Domination Magic instead of Fast Casting, however.)
- picture of one with Fire Magic req. and inscription slot.
- claim of Smiting Prayers versions
- first reply claiming there should be the potential for them to exist in any attribute which inherent Shadow Staffs exist (Luny's note - that's every caster attribute except Healing, Protection and Restoration)
- Conclusion: Folks would be interested to see what other attributes there are for inscribable Shadow Staffs.

- Conclusion: A legitimate screenshot showing these can still drop would be a fantastic find. To date, it seems highly unlikely that max r7 items still drop.

I took a look on wiki and the +1 attribute split into Staff Wrapping of Mastery and of Attribute.....i'm pretty sure u refer to the attribute's one: a staff that can have a Wrapping of any attribute even not linked to the staff own attribute e.g. Ghostly Staff (earth magic) of Soul Reaping.
Salvaging a wrapping like that you have a Staff Wrapping of a specific attribute.

Staff Wrap of Mastery is linked to the staff attribute...and is pretty common....salvaging a staff wrapping of mastery you have a general +1 attribute ..% that will change every time you set it on a different staff

I guess many ppl will not even notice the staff wrapping of attribute and merch the staff cos it's bad req or doesn't need it....

After this explanation, i know it doesn't help as you said above, but i'm pretty sure a Dying Nightmare in the UW in NM dropped a gold Staff (death magic) with +19% Soul Reaping some 3 years ago....it was one of my first run in UW so i remember it! But i got no SS of it

@Luny: i just dont know... never rly thought about that. but not that you're asking about them i think i've never seen any of those too.

@Firefighter... Well i SAW one req9 purple inscribable myself! but that was years ago... and i dont know if it still exists. but i guess someone still has it...

@Bright... was dropping during the bugged halloween quest. so im 100% sure there is one... but will be removed anyway, so i think that won't count.
I'm pretty sure there are no other max gold inherent tribal axes...

Ok, so I was just chatting about this thread with Toadie (who has this odd idea that he's actually someone named "Kai" or _Todeshand_) He sent me this link to a shot of one on a wartower thread. It's in German, so I can't tell if it proves anything or not.

So, does anyone who can read German think this looks like legit proof that insc. Crystalline Swords do exist (even if they don't drop anymore?)

I'm posting here to prove that my posting hand is working all fine.

I don't think the inherent Tribal Axes would be deleted, even if A.Net found a way to remove the glitched items as the only "bad" thing from that quest were the triple mod stuffs... and A.Net seems to fail anyways.

Also I'd not be 100% sure that there is one, but it is 100% sure that there could be one

No, they took out all access to it after Halloween event was over.

At least, as far as I know they did. If there's some sneaky way people can still get back in there, they've done an amazingly good job keeping it a secret. Were it still accessible, even with the best efforts, odds seem that it would have been leaked by now. No secrets for long on the internet, right?

I've seen two in-game, a req 9 and a req 11-13 (can't remember atm). Apparently they only dropped during EotN preview weekend and I remember I saw these both less than two months after said weekend. Haven't seen them since. I'll try to dig up some screenshots at some point, I don't know which computer's hard drive they're saved on >_>.

There are a handful or more of those. Akh' has a custo'd one. Spil has at least one, maybe more. No screens needed, it's "common knowledge" among "folks"

I'm really wondering if/how many req.8 dragon staves exist,
either prenerf with perfect mods or any req.8 20/20(??seems impossible)
and 20/10(more possible) ones after nerf.

Here's a few popular ones from GW:EN:

Equine Aegis (Motivation)
Shield of the Condemned (Strength)

I've heard various people *swear* they've either had these and sold them, seen them drop in a pug, etc, etc. I've never seen either one for sale though - either here or in-game.
