And there goes an item I dreamed about owning one day, gone, forever not to be mine. I weep.
I remember talking to you Max, when I was thinking of getting in to the realm of uninscr. and OS items. I mentioned in that conversation my dream item: An OS +5e Crystalline, I have no idea if you remember this. I knew this dream was forever a dream due to my lack of funds.
To be honest, the said Crystalline here slipped my mind. It was pushed out by my obsession for the shields of which I already own so many. Now to see you owning it, makes me smile and sad at the same time.
Smile that you own such a magnificent item and unknowingly fulfilled my dream.
Sad because I would never be able to wield it. Due of four small words: Customized for Max Borken.
Congratulations on this amazing item Max.

Years ago, I remember many conversations with a man who wanted to get into collecting & wasn't sure of what to collect or where to start...
I think you have progressed very, very well my brother. Well done & congrats on such an epic set of swords, glad to see you had the balls to customize them too!

This and that.
Superb stuff Max! i feel sad and happy, sad that more oldschool items will forever be out of ever smaller growing pool of OS items. But im glad such items found a happy and worthy resting place.
Time for some new ventures for you Max?
edit: love the background, suits it very well

Not so fast pal, somewhere there still is a 12^50 around hehe.
Now in all seriousness, I think there has never been a greater assembly of crystalines ever in GW that can compete with yours.
I tip my tophat for you bud, now pop them bottles of brandy!

Spectacular job, Max. Your assemblage of crystallines is an impressive set of swords, but it is an even more impressive display of your skill as a trader and collector. There are few in the game with the resources, connections, and fortitude to put together something like this while maintaining the integrity of their main collection. Your shields remain the definitive collection of dual reductions and that makes this display even more impressive.
In the years since you joined [PhD], you have grown from an eager nooblet to one of the finest collectors in the game -- and, as everyone knows, you've done it while being honest, honorable, friendly, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. Couldn't be prouder to have you as an officer. You have earned and will certainly always have a place among the esteemed gentlemen who share that title.
Next time I see you around the Guild Hall, though, we'll have to discuss this nasty habit of customizing. I know it's popular (no accounting for...taste...) and often done for security purposes, but I think it's a mistake. Preserving the relics of Tyria and scribbling your name on them in magic marker are two very different things.
But that aside...absolutely magnificent. Prima facie evidence that there is still beauty in the old game.

Thank you everyone for your support. I'd like to respond to a few of you.
Captain, I owe you a debt of gratitude for plucking me from obscurity to join PhD, and also believing in me enough to let me buy some of your own dual reduction shields. I remember the r7 skeleton, and the pair of Crudes. I also remember the respectful way you conducted yourself when I acquired the r13 Magmas from EK. I knew you wanted it for your heavy collection , and offered a trade. When I declined, you were the perfect gentleman. I later went on to acquire the exact r7 you had offered as well. Thank you for your support. It means everything to me.

EK, you were my inspiration to start collecting. I dedicate my success to you. Throughout my journey you have been my mentor, companion and friend. You gave me my first dual reduction shield to get me started, a r8 skeleton shield. And still today you help and advise me. My Yoda you are.

I remember that conversation well. It was during that conversation that I realised that you had potential to be a collector. I decided right then that I would do all I could to help you take your first steps down this rewarding path.

Thank you Zeph, but I have to respectfully disagree. I have saved some of the finest Crystallines it's true, but the accolade for greatest assembly of them will always belong to Imy. He will forever remain this world's finest Crystalline collector. A title he thoroughly deserves.

I think I am done. I have said before that I don't believe I can surpass my own achievements, and I'll say it again. I won't be resuming trading stuff again, and as these crystallines cleared me out, I doubt I'll be buying any other items for my collection. Our second baby arrives in November, so real life will bite. Again. Less free time to log on..... And I'm delighted about it
Thanks to everyone who helped me. I count you all as friends.
And now, once more I go back into retirement in PhD's walnut panelled guild hall.

That is a great accomplishment as well! Congrats on the baby (and to your spouse for allowing you to continue to play gw!!! all this time).
We will miss you, but feel free to continue to post here as we appreciate your insights as much as your collections.
