Recently, PhD has actively sought out the old famous and respected collectors' names and traders from the past. A collection of collectors. Most of the names who made a mark on GW history are now in PhD, so I suppose it follows that most of the posts relating to awesome items and relics from history are from our members.....

So its been a little while since I last logged into GW (something like 2 years I think?) however a friend starting logging back in so here I am. I thought that when I had quit that I had managed to get rid of pretty much everything I had but apparently I had some small amount of junk left. While not as impressive as what the rest of y'all have, I (still) think this stuff is kind of neat. So here it is and uh I suppose hello again Guild Wars.
My best things
My other best things
I guess maybe actually some good things?

Greetings Gurus.
Here I sit in our Museum vaults at Teh Academy [PhD] surrounded by the most amazing relics ever to have been created throughout the whole of history. There are items in our collections here that would make your eyes bleed, if only you were deemed worthy to gaze upon them.
I have achieved everything that I set out to achieve, and along the journey I have met and befriended some of the most leisurely gentlemen (and ladies) to have walked the hallowed ground of GuildWars. Too many to name, and plentiful in number, each of my friends have contributed to our history here. You all know who you are. I can hold my head up high, knowing that all my achievements have been accomplished with honesty and integrity. Not many people can claim that, and those who can are on my Friends' list.
I am announcing my retirement from this domain. All my closest friends know my reasons by now, but if you don't, I shall enlighten you. Greed, Ignorance, too much internet-purchased ectos and poor social skills are now the standard for traders these days. Gone are the days of honourable trading, fair pricing and trust. In short, the traders in Kamadan (apart form those on my Friends' list) perpetually demonstrate the worst traits of human character. This is also apparent here on this website when the traders ask ludicrous prices for average items, clearly demonstrating how ignorant and greedy they are. It is distasteful, dishonest, and disgraceful. And I shall play no further part in their greed. These bottom-feeders will be responsible for the economy crashing down upon itself while they ignorantly pull its foundations apart.
So, as my swansong, I leave you with all of my achievements.
Firstly, my main collection. I have acquired every significant dual reduction shield which is available. There are others, but the owners will not sell under any circumstances:
Secondly, my favourite weapons which I still use to this day:
Thirdly, my new collection of r7/16 DualMod Shields. This is still a work in progress.
Fourthly, my secret collection of r9 Colossal Picks.
It has been emotional.
Max.

Congratulations, Max. Your dual-reduction shield collection is the finest of its kind. You have earned a spot in the eternal pantheon of Guild Wars collectors. As the game continues to find its way forward, your name will be whispered in hushed tones by those who continue the quest to sit in the presence of Guild Wars' ancient soul. They will claim to have known you. They will claim to have seen the relics you lovingly preserve. For the players who remain, you and your collection have become part of the history they will try to unearth. You are not leaving the game. You and your collection have become part of it. Thank you for sharing your treasures with us one last time.
It is time for you to pursue other challenges. Before you go, I'd like to acknowledge some of your achievements that can't be seen. Years ago, Guild Wars faced challenges that are not unlike those it faces today. Greed and ignorance are not new forces in the trading/collecting universe. Under the weight of those forces, an older generation of collectors had faded from the game. The gentlemanly trader was becoming a rare and dying breed. The history of the game (as manifested in its ancient relics) was becoming lost, relegated to rumor and legend -- much of which focused on players whose accounts had been annihilated by well-deserved bans. The game, its economy, as well as its history were crumbling as a result of rampant greed and ignorance.
At this critical point, you were hand-picked from the flock of fledgling traders and brought into [PhD] for your intelligence, integrity, and humor. You appreciated items not only for their rarity and market value, but also for their value as historical artifacts. You understood the importance of preserving that history and making it accessible to everyone who sought to understand it. You understood that this mission could not be accomplished by collectors who did not hold the respect of the Guild Wars public. You contributed to that mission with the single-finest dual-reduction shield collection ever assembled. You assembled your collection in the finest tradition of the gentleman trader.
In doing so, you helped to preserve not only the history of the game, but also a way of being in it. A revitalized community grew up around you. As the last officer of [PhD], you have helped to guide the guild through the last couple of years. Our roster has grown enormously through your efforts. Under your hand, a once-small and semi-secret guild has assumed a more public character, while maintaining its vision, focus, and integrity. [PhD] has been a labor of love for me and I want to publicly thank you (as I have privately many times), on the occasion of your official retirement, for laboring alongside me, Kabong, and our [PhD] brethren to ensure that the ancient soul of the game never perishes from Guild Wars.

People come and go, world change, people change. I think you can be proud of what you accomplished, not only by what you own, but how you did it. I think some people should follow your way if they want to become a legend and leave their mark in history. It all come with passion, respect, knowledge and over all been honest. I'm a bit sad to see you go, but all good thing come to a end.
I think gw is having the end of an era atm, with all these big name going away slowly, i hope there's still some passionnate guys that can follow the dream we all had !
Its been an honnor to be by your side allong this aventure !
Time to have a beer, sit back and relax
