Hi Luke
I've owned a copy of Nightfall since the beginning of 2007 when my sister bought it as a Christmas present for me. I didn't really get into it until approximately a year ago and since then I've been spending most of my free time playing (well, as much of it as my husband will tolerate!). Unfortunately that doesn't amount to much (maybe an hour a night and 3 hours or so on the weekend) but suffice to say if I had more spare time I'd choose to use it playing Guild Wars!
I've got one character through all 3 campaigns, plus a couple of others have completed their starting campaigns. I've recently started working on my Vanquishing and Guardian titles, as well as the allegiance ranks and I'm making slow but steady progress.
Unfortunately I'm worried that the seemingly imminent release of Guild Wars 2 (well, within the next 6 months or so) will cause the Guild Wars economy to collapse and the things that help a fairly new and inexperienced player complete some of the harder content (consets, consumables, q9/green weapons & runes to outfit heroes) will become much harder to purchase and more expensive if you do find someone willing to sell.
Because of this I've recently been spending what little I'm earning through vanquishing on buying stacks of morale boosting consumables. But my cash is almost gone and I also now have no money to spend on other things to help towards my Hall of Monuments (armor/weapons etc).
I don't plan on buying Guild Wars 2 until I've completed all the content I want to in Guild Wars 1 but without the boosts etc I wonder whether I'll ever be able to make it through the DoA or the Underworld, for example. To this end, I would really appreciate whatever you could spare to help me in my quest to enjoy all the content the original game has to offer at the speed I am able to play at.
I know you asked us to specify an amount, but truly anything would help. If I had to pick a figure from the air, I'd ask for enough to buy a green weapon of every type so that I could have them sitting in my chest to use on heroes. At the moment I have to swap the weapons between heroes on each character and I'd really rather not as it takes ages. So that's a bow, spear, daggers, axe, sword, hammer, 4 different shields (2 paragon, 2 warrior), 4 ele staves, 4 mesmer staves, 4 monk staves, 4 necro staves, 4 rit staves and a scythe. Say an average of 4k a weapon and that makes 124k.
Thanks very much for your consideration. Even if you decide not to donate to me, I appreciate established players like you who want to give back to help others enjoy the game also. It's altrusim like this that makes the game, and the people who play it, great.
Jen

I like the post sir. I to myself like to write but only if it's typewriting. I've been basically playing this game about the same length as you but without the luck of establishing any cash for myself. i've been trying to get fow armor since i was a kid, and now still playing i can pretty much look back and conclude I just can't do it lol. However 15ecto would be very gracious for a helmet the least.. my IGN is Teh Black Knight; hope to hear from you Luke!

1) Specify what it is you want the money for
2) Specify how much money you want
3) Any additional information you want to relay
Hi I recently have been getting back into guild wars primarily to check out the new content and to get to 30/50 in the HOM as most people are currently doing. Working towards this has been good but I have been finding that the monuments that I'm really lacking in are the resilience and valor. I have been farming with my 55hp monk to try to build up the funds needed and have so far bought an elite luxon armour set. The main reason I would like the money (around 30e)to be able to afford different armour sets and weapons to progress in the HOM whilst spending the free time I will then have in getting titles for the honor monument.

Hello there, I'll try to keep this brief.
I used to be a very active player, I spent well over 1000 hours in Tyria, Elona and Cantha.
I never made too much money as I found a strange enjoyment in running people across the map, but I knew what I was doing and I had a steady source of income.
I more or less got bored of Guild Wars very shortly after EotN was released, and I haven't played since, until just a couple of days ago. Just like many other people, I'm trying to get (as close as possible) to 30/50 HoM points. I'm one armor set away from getting 5 in the monument of resilience. Now I had my mind set on Vabbian armor, but having not played in over three years none of my farming builds still work, and I'm really struggling to get my 'skill' back. Now if I were to receive a very generous donation of around 40e, I would be an incredibly happy panda because I could get the Vabbian armor and get the minipet raccoon
Thanks in advance and have fun spreading the wealth!

Hi Luke
I have been playing Guild Wars for almost 5 years with some (long) pauses. Now me and my friend are trying to get our Halls full. He is at 29/30. And i'm at 20/30. I feel like i got all the "easy" points like taming a special animal and stuff. The points that my friends has more than me are all the expensive weapons and armors aswell as the zaishen and Alliance battles title, which i cant really afford.
To get comfi with Guild Wars again i deleted my lvl 20 ritu with crappy armor and made another Warrior (female). Due to the fact that a (male) warrior is my mainchamp i have all these max damage items i need and stuff (some with decent skins such as a Runic Blade. But I lack money to achieve my main goal - going above 25 points in the hall or even up to 30. I have like 40k gold right now but thats not even enough for a green minipet and/or some hero armors...and yeah i still need some gold to get a nice looking armor for my new character and the point of it ofc. I'd like to have an elite kurzick/luxon ar a vabbian armor cause it gives more points than the regular elite armors and i dont have one of them...
Id greatly appreciate if you could give me some ectos - maybe like 30? so i can get more points in my hall

Luke, I humbly ask for 50 ecto. I would accept any help you can give, as here is the situation. My best friend for the past 7 years in real life had quit Guild Wars and came back. He doesn't have Nightfall and yet he is still closing in on 45 points. This is mainly because I was able to amass enough money to give him a good push but the fact is he will be stuck at 44 without obby armor. 50 ecto would give me some much needed leeway on the road to getting him that money. We play all different kinds of video games together and he has been everything from a guildie to a teammate, competitively or not. He has helped me out in other games and we have an incredible give and take relationship. So if you could please give me this help it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your consideration, either way.
Net
One of the best conversations I've had in a while. Very cool guy and a very good person to have a discussion with. Thanks again for the help, much appreciated

Hi there Luke,
I think you and I could go toe-to-toe in our verbosity. I have a strong aversion to having my words be misunderstood or misconstrued, so I tend to get pretty detailed when I want to convey something important.
I guess that's my own "bear with me" request.
I started playing GW in October 2010...I dragged my husband and my best friend along with me and got them playing as well. Since I work from home and have a pretty flexible schedule, I was able to play more frequently than they were - and it wasn't long before there was "my gaming time": when I would do the things I wanted to do for/with my toon; and "our gaming time": when I would backtrack in campaigns to go along with them on their quests & missions to help them along. That disparity in how much we could each play never did close - I finished all three campaigns & EotN. Both finished EotN & Factions, hubby finished Proph, neither have done much in Nightfall.
Fortunately, I made a couple of wonderful friends in-game as well, and have had a lot of fun playing with them. They have been an enormous help in teaching me to be a better player, and to not be so intimidated by trying something new (I screamed like a little girl the first time they took me into Sorrow's Furnace). Due to health issues which have caused him to need to be in a care facility, one of the two had to stop playing some months ago... we're working on getting him a laptop and internet access so he can play GW2 with us. We miss him a lot! The other friend has been diligently helping me to finish my titles and fill my HoM. She is always ready to work on anything I need to do - vanquishing, HM missions, dungeons, skill capping, we've run the gamut. I am literally days away from getting my GWAMM - I'm hoping to have it in time for my 41st birthday next week! I just think that would be very cool and definitely something to celebrate!
I've worked hard for those titles. Actually, WE'VE worked hard for them - I wouldn't have made the progress I have without the support of my friends & hubby. I don't know how to speed clear or farm the profitable areas - I've got my own physical limitations that make that kind of intense extended playing impossible. So it's been a pretty slow but steady & methodical pace. I even keep spreadsheets to track what needs done. LOL
I'm down to the last stretch with my titles, and then I'll have to try and figure out how to do the really expensive stuff - the PvP title with keys (please trust me when I say that I am a dismal failure with PvP - I'm a guaranteed "lose" for any side I'm on), the rest of my weapons (been slowly acquiring the destroyers so far), and the other big one: my obsidian armor. The sad thing is, I don't even like the obsidian armor! But of course, the HoM requires it for 50/50.
As of now, I've managed to stockpile 50 ectos and 10 obsidian shards towards my armor. And this week, for the first time, I've actually had more than 250 platinum in my storage. I spent a lot of time parked in Kamadan, selling off all sorts of weapon mods I've salvaged & stored, black & white dyes I'd picked up, and all of the z-coins I've acquired (I used my spreadsheet to track the VQs, Missions & Dungeons I needed and the date they were coming up as Zaishens - yes, I do have a touch of OCD, why do you ask? LOL). I have to admit, I see people dropping three and four times the amount of platinum I've got, on a single item, and I feel somewhat envious. But it sure felt nice to see a higher number in my own storage chest finally!
I'm finally starting to feel like I really will be able to completely fill my hall. It's exciting... and it feels like something WE did, not just something I did, which makes it that much better.
So now the tough part - how much am I going to ask you for? I actually gave this a lot of thought. I read your post early this morning, and thought about it while I was out for breakfast with my mother/father-in-law. They dropped me off so they can go check out of their hotel and then we're going to spend a few more hours together before they head home. Mom was asking me what I want for my birthday, and I told her about the game/your post (very lucky I don't have a mother-in-law who finds it weird her son/daughter-in-law game LOL). She said I should ask for the other 50 "thingys" I need. "After all, you'd give it to someone else if you had it..."
Yeah, I would, that's true. And that might be the reason why I haven't amassed a fortune - I tend to give a lot of stuff away to new people I meet here on Guru. LOL
But I have to admit, that seems so greedy to me. Maybe that's because it has taken me so long to acquire the 50 I already have.
So instead, I'd like to ask for just one ecto. One ecto would move me from having 50 ecto ("just half way there") to having 51 ecto ("I'm more than half way there!"). And silly as it sounds, that would feel really GOOD to me.
I'd like one ecto please, and I will use it towards acquiring my obsidian armor sometime soon I hope.
Thank you for considering my request... and thank you for all your years of generosity towards your fellow players. I think I want to be you when I grow up!

Just a little update -
First...Luke... thank you for the lovely chat and the exceptionally thoughtful gift. I love that this wasn't just a "here's your stuff" interaction. <3
Second - I just want you to know that this has spawned a few interesting and wonderful OTHER interactions between at least a few of the people in this thread. I've a few new people on my friend list now, and find myself on a few new friend lists as well. That's pretty amazing.

Hi Luke!
I'm a returning player seeking to fill up HoM for GW2 after quitting 3 years ago. Since coming back late last year, the experience reminded me again of how awesome the game still is as I got into the new GWEN skills, titles & maps.
I was a casual player back then and still am not particularly good at running / nor do I know how to farm the high end areas properly yet. So, I've been chipping away very slowly at my FoW armor statue for my primary Ranger while vanquishing. Right now I'm still short on shards an ectos. Would greatly appreciate 40-50e as it would really help a great deal towards my goal. But yes, thank you for considering.

Hi Luke,
My name is Rick and I'm a 19 year old student.
After playing this game intensively for several years I decided it was time to quit.
I gave away all of my wealth in the same way you did (although I did own a lot less).
Now after roughly 2 years I decided to go back to GW and fill up my HoM up to 45/50. Unforunately I don't have alot of time, and the last thing I really need now are 12 weapons.
Unfortunately I'm a student, which means I lack a great amount of time. This is why I could really use your generosity to help me 'fill' my HoM.
I could use anywhere from 12e to 100e (quite a wide range, I do realize this), so I can afford these weapons. I would understand however if you decide there are people who
could use it way more than I do.
Thank you for doing such a great thing for others, and I hope I will speak to you in game.
Rick

Hi Luke. My name is Gabriel and I am a 4 years Guild Wars Player, I started this game with no friends but in time I made some good friends which helped me alot when I needed it. Lately I felt the need to prepare myself for Guild Wars 2 so I decided to fill up my HoM, I worked hard and got to 43/50. I used all my cash to get here but I still want 45/50. If you could help by donating about 30-40 ectos I would greatly appreciate it, I need to buy some weapons for HoM and I am not able to do it on my own.
Thank you very much, all the best wishes,
Gabriel

Hi,
last year my account got hacked and someone took off with all my money, armor, minipets, materials, .... you name it.
Since then I lost interest in GW, I couldn't get over the fact that I had to rebuild everything
But when I played the GW2 Beta I got interested again in filling my HoM a little bit more (I'm currently at 20/50)
So first thing I did wa getting some basic materials, sell all the remaining equipment I still had on other chars, and purhased some 55armor (as I was completely naked)
so now I want to get everything I still lack, starting with a proper armor for in-game as well as my HoM (Kurzick, Luxon, Vabbian, whatever, ...)
SO to get to your question: 75K to pay for a complete set would be awesome! (as of now I have 5k in storage)
But everything additional (to buy the materials I need for the armor, ...) would be appreciated as well.
Thanks for what you're doing and cheers to you!

Started playing this game during the World Preview Event of Prophecies back in '04 and been a regular player since it shipped. I've never been good at amassing money in the game, I didn't buy my first elite armour until after the release of Nightfall, and up until recently I simply played the game without caring much about collecting rare, no longer dropping items. (HoD, mixed dye, odd runes, HP -50 cesta, 25% charr mods, dual-reduction shields, ...) In retrospect this was a grave error.
These items are part of the history of the Guild Wars I love. The items should be kept safe on accounts where they will not be lost because the owner stops playing, and on accounts owned by people who are willing to show these items to other players who find them interesting. As the release of GW2 is coming up I fear these items will get lost on inactive accounts at an accelerating rate, and so I have turned most of my economic resources towards collecting some of these items. So far I've acquired 500 Jade Wind Orbs, a 25% bow grip of Charrslaying and a 25% sword pommel of Charrslaying. (All of which I will gladly show to anyone in trade, just give me a PM/Whisper) I am also currently shopping for a HoD sword.
If only I had enough resources to preserve some of the more rare items...
At the moment I am not aware of any items for sale that I could preserve with your money, so asking for a specific sum is a bit difficult. However, that dual-reduction shield would most definitely be the kind of item worth preserving, and not hiding away in a personal collection for the collector's eyes only.
I hope you can sympathise with my cause.

My boyfriend bought me the game about 14 months, after we had been playing another MMO (SWG) for many years prior. Almost instantly out of pre-searing I got hooked hardcore on the game. I've spent already more in-game time in my time than he has in his 5 years of playing, putting a lot of effort into figuring out how to manage end-game content to help him fill out his hall of monument, and get him various things he's always wanted but could never attain.
Anyways, since getting his 30, he's more or less lost interest in the game. I've been still playing a bit between classes, but not like I was able to last semester. I really want to get to 35 in my HoM for the title, and at this point I need a few more titles (guardian/protectors probably) and then either Elite Kurzick + another cheap set, or the two extra to get to the 7 sets.
300k~ would be a huge help in this.
