Default Killing All The Things

Ok... This idea has... Yes. This has been a dream of mine for quite some time.

I've wanted to start a guild that was strictly a farming guild. Not an SC guild, or a PVE guild, or a fff guild.. NO! A guild that just did stuff. Went around the new WiK and WoC areas just indiscriminately killing. The reason being is that the potential for really awesome drops is, and always has been, very good. People are obsessed with collecting these rare items that still drop, why not get a huge group together and farm them.

So since I know that idea won't take off any time soon, here is what I propose.

MASSIVE COMMUNITY WIDE FARMING/VANQUISHING EVENTS!!!

WiK and WoC active, Defend (Droks, HoD, Ascalon, LA) active.

I want to farm all areas, everywhere, on the Canthan and Tyrian continents. I don't think farming a certain map is all that important so much as farming general regions for specific drop selection.

I'm hoping that maybe we can do it on the weekends, and every weekend we can all get together somewhere make teams of 8 and go around killing stuff and shooting the shit and just have a good time. I used to do this in Southern Shiver a lot with a guild in 06. We'd just go out killing for hours. No reason, just because.

So... The way I see it is this. Sign up here, saying you'll be available on Saturday/Sunday for a few sessions of genocidal rampaging.

Here's the areas I would really like to focus on.

( Yes i'm aware that the Defend quests and WoC quests only operate in specific maps)

Southern Shiverpeaks with Defend Droks active.

Ascalon with Defend Ascalon active.

Kryta with WiK active.

Raisu Palace.

Nahpui Quarter Mission.

Xaquang Skyway.

Echovald Forest with WoC active. (Morostav Trail in particular. easy sc)

Jade Sea with WoC active. (Boreas Seabed and Silent Surf in particular)

The Deep and Urgoz.

I have selected these areas for obvious reasons. The desired skins in GW seem to reside in these areas. Or at least many of the desired skins seem to reside in these areas.

I don't think of this as a competition as much as I think of it as a fun way to waste some time. If any of you have alts that are guildless or are free to guild hop then we can join my alts guild and make a little guild to make communication and such easier.

I have no doubts that there are many who would like to try this, and also have no doubts that there are many who think this is a stupid waste of time. I strongly believe that the last bastion of entertainment in GW is having fun and hanging out with people, not doing intense SC's all day/night or sitting in districts all day. Killing with a full team of people will hopefully yield some sweet drops and bring that excitement back that once used to exist.

First person to get a magmas/echovald, prepare to be HOUNDED about the stats all day.

PS I call first dibs on all perfect r13's if this goes through.

If you'd like to do this, sign this, join this, w/e you want this, and list off which areas you are interested in doing. Hopefully we get enough people we can get a bunch of teams and agree on an area to do.

I picked Saturday/Sunday because that way timezone differences won't make this impossible. I'm thinking late afternoon/evening PST (-8:00 GMT) so that we can include as many people as possible. That or really really early. Like 6/7 AM PST. You guys decide. Post your preferred locations (3 or 4) and time to do it. (with timezone)

Thanks for reading and considering this outrageous idea.

Carnage.

UPDATE:
16 people so far Compiling a list of preferred rolls and areas along with names.

6/7 AM PST or any time between 12PM/12AM PST

Southern Shiverpeaks with DD active.
Kryta with WiK active.
Morostav Trail with WoC active.
The Deep/Urgoz.

For all of the above lines (I want to try it because it sounds like such a great, stupid waste of time!) I'll sign up!

I'd think weekends are a better plan than weekdays, yes. You might try aiming earlier in the day if you're in PST (GMT-8) Evening in PST is the wee small hours of the morning for the European folks, right? Of course, with enough interest there's the potential to have planned outings at various times of the day, too, I suppose.

As for me, I've usually got a pretty flexible schedule. I'm far from pro at playing GW, but I can follow directions and learn. I've got each of the six core professions along with a Rt that shouldn't be too hard to get to most anywhere in Prophecies. The Para can already get most places past LA, and with some advance notice I doubt it would be much time or effort to run her back to earlier locales. Each character's availability in Factions is a little more limited, as in general I took them only far enough to do both Befriending quests and be able to go out and cap their primary elites. Some are further along than that.

For WiK, I've finished on at least one character and I'm sure I have some who haven't even started. I haven't done WoC at all on any of my characters yet due to waiting on a friend to be in a GW mood. As far as I know, that doesn't preclude me from being on a team where someone else has it active.

As for areas, I'm probably more interested in Prophecies than Factions simply because of the ratio of loot I see these days between the campaigns. But the game sounds like fun either way, so I promise not to whine if we end up in Factions. Kill red dots, don't let any get away! Open chests to see what's inside. No one flipping out and waking up my evil twin by forgetting their manners if we don't succeed at first. That sounds like fun to me no matter where it happens!

So, Luny - <removed in edit. PM me if you really need it, can't remember it, and can't find it on my other threads.> IGN

Weird, flexible schedule which already consists of way too much time logged into GW anyway.

Preferably anywhere in Prophecies, but not especially fussed about the target.

EDIT - I call first dibs on all Hardened Humps, Igneous Humps, and Bog Skale Fins! Pretty please?

EDIT - Feb. 4 - No hard feelings whatsoever, but I'm removing my IGN. I don't like leaving it in public on a thread or post I'm not actively maintaining. I think it's great that you've got so many folks playing and having fun here, really I do! But I'm not a "speedclearer," never have been, never will be. So I'll bow out and wish you all the very best of luck for some good, rewarding and fun games!

hi

would love to join this "project".
for me I'm in GMT +1 and might be not able to join teams often, but if there would be a free slot I definately would be in

All I can offer is a warrior ... frankly couldn't get to much along with other toons playing.
If there would be some sort of guild for that, sure I would join with a acc and if we cleaning areas in factions then this would help my factions titles as well

will follow the thread here to see what comes out.

cheers
van

Id love to do this, i think the idea of the Guild for it is a better idea, that way you dont have to block up your FL and we can just easily find people for 2 ppl/hero vanqs etc too incase not so many are on. Either way, im totally in!
Also i play a fair bit during the weekdays, so the guild would be good for people who play a lot during weekdays too, i think? xD

Id love to do any area, although im after some nice Canthan staves the most

Ok so the consensus so far is a guild would be good. I have one. I'll buy the pertinent NPC's for it. It houses 2 of my alts, i'll send out PM's to you guys, or you guys can leave your alt account names here and I can add them tonight. If we can get a bunch of people in the guild then that'd be awesome. We could just form these sorts of excursions at will!

Speaking of canthan staves... I had a grape Dragon staff drop yesterday during my ZM on Vizunah Square. First one I've ever had drop in 6 years ;S... Goes to show how much I farm cantha :P

Sounds awesome! And you should really try farming Luxon Sins carnage, get so many Dragon Staffs its unreal Only problem i have, is that (This might sound a bit selfish, i dunno xD) Ill be dedicating myself pretty much to this when i can, as i dont have much else to do in Guild Wars, so ill be signing my main up for this, and i dont wanna be in a guild with a bunch of alts xD

Yea I tried the 105 monk farm of the luxons in Boreas . It's fun, and took me back. I didn't get any dragons in a few days of doing it, but now I have more accounts to bring so I may yet try again. Also, my alts that are in the guild. 1 is a full Proph/Fac/NF/EotN account that I'm on all the time. I almost never have just 1 account open, I use them all all the time. My mains in the Cava alliance atm for Luxon fff. We'll work on the particulars of how we wanna do the roster/account thing when we get some people in it. But for now if we can at least get people there, then it'll be a good starting point.

Ok thats cool Carnage, i guess what ill do is ill start having 2 of my accounts open too then i guess. My other accounts are Factions only, which i guess is ok, as its really Factions that we'll be farming (Its the best Campaign too in my opinion ) So ill work on a Char through there on one of them Ill post my alts name when i got everything worked out. Any profession specifics you think i should run?

Hmm.. Ideal chars for this type of thing?... Anything will work I think. If we get enough players, rerolling shouldn't be an issue. I definitely need to work on my factions with my good alt. So I'm game to do some campaign crawling with you. But yea, almost any profession is usable. I'm working on a rit and necro on my alt atm just because they are very versatile professions.

Ok thats cool. I already have a lvl19 rit so ill continue with that. I think what ill do is purchase either NF or EoTN (Whatever is cheaper xD ) for Heroes so we can still do the vanqs/clears even without a full player team. Totally game for this man, its a brilliant idea.

LOL just found EoTN for £3, go me xD

Eotn for £3!? GG Eotn is awesome too. The PvE skills are essentially the most OP aspects of GW. Very good to have.

I doubt I'll be able to de-hello-kitty any of my alts to join a guild for this, sorry. (In addition to being my imaginary friends, they're my extended storage. To not have them all lined up in the guild hall and handy would mess up many of my master plans. Leaving my alliance isn't an option for me either.)

If I'm the only one with such limitations, so be it - I'll do my best to work with you when/how I can. If many other folks are in a similar situation perhaps an alternative solution would be to pick some obscure district of some obscure outpost as a gathering point? Ideally, that would be somewhere in Prophecies for me, as all of my alt accounts have at least Prophecies.

My guess is this starts and stays more fun if we don't worry too much about everyone starting out with "great" builds or every team composed of eight bars working perfectly together. When possible, let folks play what/how they enjoy and are most comfortable with. If it's not working well, we can try to help each other with tips and pointers, sure. Those of us with more flexibility can try to fit something into any glaringly obvious gaps. Over time, we might well develop some nice approaches and tactics, sure. But please let's not go into this like it's a race for best clearing times ... that sounds an awful lot like SC. :/ As a team of eight live humans, we'll probably suck compared to the hero teams we're all so used to ... at least at first. But that might well be part of the fun! We get to eradicate red dots, see all kinds of curious drops (should we manage to get full human teams without any snobby AI who won't show us their drops,) and re-learn how to play with humans instead of drive a train of heroes like some kind of 16+ legged desert wurm! Perhaps I'm just nuts, but that sounds to me like it could be pretty fun.
