There is no good white combo really. Dye remover makes the dye more transparent, so if you use silver & dye remover on mesmer armor, it would look pale, greenish grey. Likewise, if you use silver+yellow+DR on mesmer it will look lighter yellow/green. like olive drab.
shine has nothing to do with dye & everything to do with the armor itself.
BTW has anyonecompiled a list of how armor generaly effects the dye? Monk armor will allways be lighting than mesmer. Knight will always be shiney, Rit is high saturation, etc... The color charts (the ones that are ONLY color) are useless without knowing how certain armors will act.

I don't know of any such list. But I generally find that its rather easy to interpret the things you mention with just one or two of the Armor charts.

yeah, there are enough charts now to get an idea of how things will effect one another. I guess it's not really needed then.

Well, the unthinkable happened... as many of you know, last night there was a huge update. Among the changes was the following:
Quote:
* The new dye system improves the appearance of base dye colors and mixed dye colors. The new system is used when you newly apply dye to an item. Existing item colors are not affected.
* Newly crafted armor now starts out gray. If you dye it to another color and then later want to restore it to its original appearance, just dye it gray. Vendors now sell gray dye instead of dye remover.
* White and brown dye colors are now available as loot drops.
* Silver is now an equipment color option during character creation.
* A new Dye Preview panel lets you preview the effect of dye color combinations on your items before applying the dye.
|
So, not only are all of Fezz's charts now made obsolete by the change in dye system, but the Dye Preview panel eliminates the need for charts altogether. Don't get me wrong, it's a great thing to have, but it's disappointing that the time, gold, and effort of everyone who contributed to this thread just got flushed down the toilet.
A lot of well-known shades from the old system are now either unreproducible or involve expensive mixes. So if you have an armor that was dyed before the update, be warned that if you dye it you will NOT be able to get your old color back. I dyed my ranger armor orange a couple weeks ago for Halloween, and now I can't get the exact teal color I normally use Also, if your armor was undyed before the update, it will now be colored gray, and you will need to dye it to get your old color back.
One of the new things I'm interested in is the white and brown dyes... since there aren't enough yet to stock the Dye Trader, it would be neat if some of the lucky people who have found them could post some pictures

I think people will still want to see the mixes before they go and buy the dye....so having the charts will still be useful-------------but they would have to be redone, which sucks big big time. well
thanks to all who did the expensive work of mixing and screenshoting them.....it was not money wasted, many many people benefited from their efforts and we applaud them

I'm very glad that they haven't ruined the armors dyed with the previous dye system. My monk FoW (*ascetic*) armor costed nearly 100k to dye, and I'm sure you can imagine how glad I am to be able to keep its appearance.
I'm wondering how we'll get armor insignias on our PvE head pieces. Hopefully we will not have to buy new pieces, because the dyes I used there would have added up to a large amount as well!

As the charts are obsolete now, it's best if this thread was closed. If someone still wants to take the time to update and redo these we can open it back up or start a new one. Simply send a PM to Lasareth or Inde.
