Default Excel Workbook for checking drop rate.

I did this for another forum (gwo) but figured that there was a large enough pve base here to warrant reposting it.

Basically, this is an excel workbook that will help anyone wondering about the drop rate changes. (personally I think they are fine, but enough people have expressed the opinion that they are not fine, but then provide no real numbers to show that they are correct/incorrect)

So.

Here is my post from GWO.

Here is a nice excel chart everyone can use to help them record each of their runs. I did NOT make separate parts for HM vs NM - honestly, we should all understand that HM's drops will be better than NM drops. This is to show the differences between Solo, Heroes+Henchmen and Partied (real players) play. Not the difference between NM and HM.

I used some very basic formulas to help everyone add up each runs and stuff like that. Along with a top section that is dedicated to showing the difference between each run. If you have never used an excel doc before its rather simple, and I did most of the "hard" work already. Just do your run, and as things drop record it in the appropriate "cell". It will auto calculate the totals and the differences for you.

I feel that a single run is not a good showing, so I listed out for 10 runs each for "Solo" , "Hero's and Henchs" and "With people" With people of course for when you go through an area with a full party of real players.

I have setup 2 charts within the workbook. The first chart shows the totals for each of the 3 run types. The second shows the difference between the run types. (I could not decide on a best chart, so in the interest of all I included both types, personally I think the run totals will speak for themselves however, some people may want to see the differences between run types)

If you do not have MS excel installed (It comes with MicroSoft Office) you can get a free Office suit here;

http://www.openoffice.org/

If you just want to view the worksheet (you CANNOT modify the worksheet with this program, but you can view and print it, NOTE: The auto adding/subtracting wont happen on plain paper )

http://office.microsoft.com/download.../xlviewer.aspx

As for my worksheet you can download it here;

www.clis.com/kemenicker/drops.xls

So for anyone who is interested in doing some REAL testing, getting REAL numbers and seeing for themselves just what the new drop rate is like. I encourage you to download this and give it a whirl.

Nicely done. this should be helpful indeed. This is off topic but I like the 1984 reference in your location there too.

Of course, don't quote anything after 10 runs.

Getting 100 runs from 100 players (100 runs per player) would allow for some conclusions, for some items.

Where/what do we compare this data to that we gather?

Code:
Gold Coins	Green Items	Gold Items Purple Items	Blue Items	Col. Items	White Items	Material	Dye	Keys

Solo VS H+H	-1914 1 0 1 6 2 4 0 0	0
Solo Run Total	512 1 0 1 6 3 8 0 1	0
H+H Run Total	2426 0 0 0 0 1 4 0 1	0
I just did the Comparison Solo vs. HH - doing the Zelnehlun Farm, factoring out the few Ntoukas/Drakes which are on the way to Zelnehlun. Only counting the drops/gold from the spiders.

One thing that should be changed in the sheet IMO, is the gold earned in H+H & People (Total divided by # of partymembers).

So what do I gather from those numbers?

- On a solo run, I gain on average 51.2 gold -- Compared to a H+H Run I gain 30.3 gold
- I have a greater chance of getting a green solo than with H+H (10% vs. 0%)
- I have a greater chance of getting a purple item solo (10% vs. 0%)
- I have a greater chance of getting a blue item solo (60% vs. 0%)
- I have a greater chance of getting a collectors item solo (30% vs. 10%)
- I have a greater chance of getting a white item solo (80% vs. 40%)
- I have the same chance of getting a dye solo (10% vs. 10%)

This may be skewed, since it only focuses on one group of 14 foes.

So for this small group, I'm still better off solo.

LOL you guys do know that drops reset after a certain time of day AND things drop better during CERTAIN times of day?

I have experienced this.Example I farmed a green dagger 12 times at 12 diffrent times of day for 2 days.
Here you go:

I got 4 Drops total.
0 During MY 3-4PM
3 During MY 6-7PM
0 During MY 7-8PM
1 During MY 8-9PM
0 During MY 10-11PM

I really dont have time to get more result but since I was running ppl and bored I went randomly hunting.
