my concern is the poster that mentioned not being able to enter explorables. From what I've noticed in the vids on youtube, you can't enter explorables so honestly, whats the point? just a fancy toy at this point.

Quest ID's will prolly come to, since it is open source now, plus that others might make a sub source of the project.
About the login check.. With the administrator editing the database its no big deal to let everyone play on the server.
And the encryption packet for the serial key isn't hard to break either...
Prolly that was is ment with that the project no longer can strive to be legitimate.

Hmm, this certainly looks like an interesting way to get some plot twists and different game play :P I support what they are doing as long as they manage to keep it within the paying community as it were, after all i paid for the game i wouldnt want others ruining something like this for me because they want to save £15 or so. It almost feels like a gw fanfiction :P

This project reminds me so much of the old closed alpha server its hilarious that the fans have basically came up with their own version of it to tinker with...
I am all for it and if it ends up very popular you can imagine Anet would at some point want to buy up the rights to licence realm builder tools for it for when GW 1 goes dark... And all the fans want to host their own private realms to continue to play with their friends.
Indeed this was one of the many reasons Anet exists because the beta for WoW had a free dedicated server to allow for freeplay, and when the company decided to pull it because they didn't think a free to play system could be profitable, Anet proved them wrong... Of course the original beta testers still had the server files and as such illegal freeplay servers still exist today...
Now if this project will queue the account server for access, all teh better and Anet would be a great partner at that point. All they want to secure is that content is paid for from them. where its hosted I'm sure is not of concern to them, as long as that major criteria is met. Which it seems they are working at allowing for this aspect.

I have all the source code that I yoinked off their FTP floating around somewhere.

The project died a long time ago. I talked to the guy who did a lot of the coding on IRC for awhile. I tried it once and got it working, but you couldn't enter explorable areas and the most you could do was walk around and talk in all chat.

Can't we just have something like Garry's Mod that would let us screw with maps and objects?? Possibly even exporting the .obj files for maps?
Actually, if anyone has the 3d models of the maps, it would be appreciated if anyone can pm me them for fan creation-related content.
