I think it might be a good idea to keep the last received set of trades to be displayed for when your offline veliisx, that way people can still have a look at what this project is and how it currently looks/progress and such.
I dont know if it is currently supposed to do this, I coudnt get in touch with you last night.
Just a little information update for everyone, this is what happens currently.- Everything goes through an OCR
- Trades get dumped into .txt files
- Trades get a Time Stamp applied to them so that people can see when they were made
- The "All Trades" lets you see trades as they appear in guildwars
- Trades get sorted into the following: WTS, WTB, WTT
- Trades get Archieved after a certain amount of time so that the process doesnt slow down too much and so that trades do not get lost
Everything is currently searchable using Ctrl+F though I believe more advanced searching is planned. Feel free to correct me on any of this Veliisx

All of what you said is exactly what happens. And currently the archives will be stored for a great length of time, as soon as I fix one tiny error I made while half-asleep last night

What you could do is put it in a sql database, put a full-text index on it, then made an option to search using php. (this will also search on relevance).
Using this you can also make an page that shows the newest database entries, and let this update using AJAX (which doesn't refresh the page, but lets you show the newest entry's every ... seconds). That makes you only having to send database entries, not sending the stream to a lot of different people. (which sucks up upload)
If you need any help on the php/AJAX, you can aks me

I agree that this is a good idea...however it is not the part that I am worried about at the moment. The front end part really is no problem, there are hundreds of ways we could sort and display the items. The big part is really getting them there. It just has to be clear that what is really going on is a screenshot every x seconds, and an infinite loop of a program that reads the text, sorts it etc. Sooo...there is no way that we can really update in "seconds" as the text is only read at a certain speed.
I do intend to shift over to a database at some point, but for now it is simply easier to code for raw files to get it all working. I am still working on improving my end hehe.
EDIT
--------
Just wanted to clear up that we are not using a stream at all anymore haha. It is simply text being read from screenshots.

Well, you can send it to the database as an entry every time the program reads a line of WTS/WTT/etc, this way it updates quite fast. I have no idea in how to get it into the database though, as my knowledge goes as far as what i mentioned. But i don't know in what way you can enhance the program.
