Damnations... I've been trying for 2 days now to death level a moa, and every time it hits lvl 16 I get the dreaded err 59. And this even with me in front of the computer doing laps around the ressurection shrine. Boo

So, this means I gotta kill the bird at level 15... which at level 19 would give me 32 xp.

Which means I need to kill around 400 of em just for level 40? And from level 16 to level 20 would require about 1000 kills? AAAND it takes about 10 hours to level a moa to level 15? Which would mean that if I played 24/7 it would take about 400 days to complete?! Seems a lot more than the suggested 200-400 hours in the original post.

Is anyone able to death level a moa above level 15 these days? *sigh* I had my sight set on this... but I'm not sure I am willing to sacrifice 400 _days_.

(Okay, remembered that one was supposed to do all quests at lvl 19 for experience, and not death levelling... it's still about 200+ days to go from level 16 thru to 19??)

I've only ever leveled off moss spiders (well char too but thats nerfed) and it takes them about 8 hours to get to level 18. I don't go beyond that because I have the same problem as you, err59... I can usually leave it afk for the entire time too, although it helps to check up on it once or twice if possible. Got err59 maybe 2/10 times if i leave it without touching game for entire 8 hours and 1/10 times if i check up on game and move around a bit every now and then).

I don't know where you got the 10 hours to lvl 15 part from? You are running around the shrine entire time? Sounds boring. Not to mention your kiting from the moa, reducing its damage output, which would probably account for the longer time. Moss spiders also start 1 level higher than moas so they are better, IMO. They are outside barradin estate if you didn't know. But ya, I think this will take a lot longer than the 200-400 hours now that char dleveling has been nerfed... but its afk time mostly so not too big of a deal...

So ya... use moas, don't run around constantly, just check up on the game every now and then to make sure no err59. Hope that helps...

Sounds to me you're death leveling either 1 or 2 Moas at the shrine that's why its taking them a long time to level up. Try Barradin Estate, the MOST spawn you'll get is 4 striders & 2 moss spiders OR 4 moss spiders. Either one is ok. All you have to do is keep zoning back and forth to the outpost(town) till you find that spawn. Also check up on the hill if there are striders there.

In regards to ER59, that can't be avoided. It happens to me to but the most I'm online is 10 hours. I normally kill it when its level is same as mine so I get 100xp everytime. Those days are over for me since I just hit level 20 yesterday.

Nah, I wasn't running around the entire time... just once every hour or so... it seems pretty darned consistent that it disconnects every 10 hour unless I zone or something. Last disconnect I was running around, cast Soul Barbs (just for fun) ... went to the toilet and wham, Err 59 (for some reason I get Err 40 for a few minutes after that... don't know what that is about...)

(This also means that my 1800 deaths have been a total waste :lol

Why does everyone believe this? All the quests didn't even get you from level 16 to 17, let alone from 18 to 19. You WILL need to death level on level 19, there's no way around it. The quest still should be done on level 19 though, don't get me wrong, just pointing this out.

Sucks for me since the first thing I did was all my quest..When I made my nerco I wasnt planning on staying in pre-searing untill I met a few friends and saw other highlvled people, so i just kept my necro there, so from lvl 17-20 im deathlvling >.> no more quests for me

If you'll ask me, all quests should be done precisely starting at 19.25. You'd be short if you started all quests at exactly level 19. I started all my quests when I reached level 16 (big mistake).

from lv 19 to lv 20 was the longest wait ever def save as many quests you can till 19, and i'd reccomend buying vamp weapons/offhands they are out there

I just created an account because im curious to the fact that people are posting that death lvling by charr is nerfed (and im assuming they mean not possible). and they are death lvling striders and moas....Knowing that would take a HUGE amount of my valuable time, and many others, I can say that death lvling by charr is still possible after the latest patch, i did last night, just 4 of them though (much better than moas and spiders lol). Although i will not post my exact method, respecting the possibility that others have found a way and want to keep it secret, if u notice charr behavior, especially certain groups u just might find it. Good luck to u all =).

death lv'ing the charr IS possible still.....but it's not as easy as some other areas you can maximize your time spent afk lv'ing up other green named characters faster then doing the charr route not to mention being afk the entire time also

every single shrine in Pre you can death lv at with a good spawn that is...

oh and BTW------ Hello Max, Leo, Merci, and friends....i still remember when I made lv 20 over a year ago it was just about doing something no one else could, now with the addition of the title everyone wants it to be rare, I can't even count how many haters i've encountered after I came back to GW from a 8 month exit, so everyone who does actually get the title be prepared to get dissrespect from everyone else

You mean high level charr spawn at all those shrines that have healing monks guarding them? There's no way to deathlevel at Ranik for example, since the monk works wonders. Of course, unless there's an AI bug there, preventing the monk from healing ya when you try?

40 days in, got to level 17 and currently 15% towards level 18.
Wintersday celebration is certainly taking a lot of my time away from Pre at the moment.

BUT, I still enjoy death leveling through charrs. I can't possibly imagine having to do it through moas and spiders. Pulling 14 charrs so far to the shrine is pretty standard with the newest update.

4-9% a day is highly achievable through a single 7hr round of death leveling.

To all those who keep dedicated to getting the title, kudos. It takes a lot of patience and dedication to get thru this journey.

To all those who have already achieved it recently, congratz!

also, about the champion title. that title does take skill. get into a top 100 guild then PM me. you must be very very expierenced at gvg to get champ points.

Well, in regards to your question, if you're looking for a Level 20 pet the quickest way to own one without putting any effort death leveling it....would be a strider. Barradin Estate just outside the rezone area have strider spawn up to 4 of them. If you decide to death level one and charm it at level 20, make sure there are NO agro moss spiders around when you do it. Otherwise the spider(s) will get the xp. Of course your minimum level has to be 14 and up.

About your other question, you can't deathlevel a moa or spider when you have a pet in a field. Besides, it will only kill it to the extent of ALL foes including potential pets don't gain xp from pet. They only gain xp from your character. The reason why I know is I tried to death level the 4 level 10 charr bosses in the Northlands using my Level 20 Dire Bear for about 2 hours. Unfortunately, nothing happened and all 4 of them are still level 10's.

My question was more directed to how can a pet level up beyond level 16 when the highest available mob is level 10. I'm of course counting on the same experience guides for pets as for characters (i.e. no XP if monster is more than 5 levels below you...)

However, this may all be moot for me as I simply can't get the Charrs separated, and 4 level 7-8 charrs is too much for me and my lil ole Brown bear.

They dont level up on mobs, they level up on you

So you would have to get rid of the pet you have now, start charming the pet then stop, run to a nearby res shrine and let it level up.

Once it is 20, capture it.

It is probably very hard and since i havent done this myself not sure if this is the exact method but.....

Invite a level 16 Necro, let him make 10 minions, let him stand next to the monk, make him leave. I very much doubt the monk has a chance against 10 minions made with 12/13 Death Magic.

And you CAN get your pet to level 17 without death leveling. The level 10 Charr bosses level up to level 11 when they kill you 10 times on level 16. This way you should get about 1% each run (probably a bit less, as it was only a bit more then 1% at level 16), and your pet could also. But still, death leveling a pet to level 20 is probably most effective.

I'm also having a really hard time getting more than 1 mob near enough to the res shrine so that death levelling will work... if they start too far away they'll just run away once they've done their dirty deeds...
