Quest Log- Something i think is * Necessary*
Ok, perhaps some may think it is not entirely necessary but it found it so. I beleive there should be a way to either organize your quests or "throw away" your quests once you have accepted it because I ended up having a good 15 quests without knowing which one I was on. Either a quest log that includes something along the lines of "Quests from Ascalon" or "Quests from Tydus" or "Quests from Shiverpeak"
I just dont enjoy the disorganization of the current quest log.
Sorry if I sound somewhat frustrated but I am

I think that it would be nice as well, of course some will say "you should do your quests as you get them".
Well i dont so sue me.

IMO the QuestLog worked fine, at least for me. All the quest I accepted were listed there, and the steps I had already done were checked. I'm wondering what kind of improvement you're suggesting.

Being able to flag quest as "Will be completed later" or "can't be completed" so the log only shows the quests you want them to show.
And being able to sort them in categories like "Place obtained" "Place to go to" "Reward" "Time since you obtained it" etc.
That would be nice indeed.

Playing this BWE for the first time i feel that the organisation of quests in GW is its biggest weakness. If i knew all the quests than sure its ok but doing all the quests for the first time i really was confused for quite some time.
This is the one area that WoW actually shines and i believe GW should steal their quest organisation ideas. As a side note GW quests are actually more interesting and fun, they're just harder to manage.
I feel the biggest thing that would help is the big in your face text across the screen when the quest log is updated. Putting that in GW would go along way to help. Its so simple and so effective and is the only thing that WoW has over GW.

I agree - some way to throw away quests, especially the ones from Pre-Seared Ascalon, because there's no way you can help those poor souls now.
The idea to organize by the city/area where you got the quest from is a good idea. Perhaps there could be a drop-down menu of areas, as well as checkboxes below to toggle on/off display of: "Completed Quests", "In Progress Quests" for quests you have actually started, and "Collected Quests" for the ones you have obtained but have not yet done anything for.

I think this would be the best idea for the organization of the quest, once the team I was with all had a particular quest which I didn't have and after hunting down the NPC giving that quest I coundn't get it because I had already done it and didn't remember. This also happened to other people on different teams, so having a way to tell what the progress is on each quest would be great (Sacred has an extremely well organized quest log). Maybe even have a way to hide quest you picked up but didn't want to do, instead of dropping them althogether. I also think that the pre-sear quest should automatically drop off when you enter the academy, along with associated quest items, I carried around a tapestry for hours because I wasn't sure if it was needed in post-searing.

Me thinks this may occur on release but more likely will occur shortly there after by streamed update after they read this thread, as I believe they will.
I don't really use mine much but in looking at the suggestions Zexion's "can't be completed" flag would be perfect to set up for deleting them as Galatea would like to see for the pre-searing ones, and that makes alot of sense to get rid of those.
The organization by city is a good one too. I am just wondering if it should be organized by city you received the quest from or city you need to finish the quest in, if it's different.
Lastly quests that can't be completed should just fall under that heading so you can delete em the instant you open the quest log.
This is a great thread, I mean can hear alot of people's frustration with it so I sure hope alot of great ideas like those above get posted.
*Edit* Lea that all sounds great too! This is the coolest thread I've seen in a long time.

honestly, just a journal type thing would be nice...so when u get a quest, you can type it in the quest log as, i want to do ---------- before starting this quest, or i got ----- far and needed help, next time bring a ranger/healer...etc etc, as sidenotes or whatever, would make it easy to work with, and you could do it so YOU understand it

I was thinking of the quest log very similar as to how it is now but little tabs or a little pulldown bar which has each of the little Cities/towns/forts you have been to (and only those you have been to) and it lists quests in the fashion. So if you press the Ascalon tab, it will switch to all the different quests from Ascalon. If you press the Fort Ranik tab, it will switch the page to all the different quests solely from Fort Ranik. And if you press the "All" tabs or "Show all Quests", it should be as it is now. Just a suggestion.
And I don't know about you, but when I go to town, I am going to get every quest there is so if I complete one, I check my log, see that the other one is a short minutes battle away, and go there rather than going back to Ascalon, getting my reward, and having to fight the same beasts again. Its kind of doing chores in the order of "Go the the grocery store" and you go - come back home, check that off and look again...
"Get some shampoo from the store next to the grocery store" and then bashing your head against the wall at your stupidity.
And a little off topic- If I am in the middle of questing or just soloing for items/Experience (Yes, bad bad me), and my friend comes on - I'm probably going to leave and join a friend in a mission if possible. That is exactly what happened. I left Ascalon, finished the mission, and found myself not needing the 5 quests I had for Ascalon.
Sorry if my post is in a bit of a mess but, at the moment, so is my mind

Thumbs up to the sorted by town idea. This is anothing that WoW does that made it so easy to manage quests. Im not saying try to be WoW because GW is better in every other aspect. But as far as quest organisation WoW has it perfected so rip them off in that area and leave them for dead with all the other features.

Wow...
WoW is a game I have never played and I still thought of one of their "best" features...
I just hope that Gaile or someone sees this before I get too swamped with quests
