Marriage
i was curious, i don't think this game has this yet or not, but any1 here agree that it should havea marriage system fora bit of fun, a few other games have this its always really cool to be able to marry your g/f on a game and stuff , but yeh if it doesnt have it i'd like to see it be added 1 day. Maybe add some things you can do once you get married that only married couple can do.

a) it's not a MMORPG
b) why would married people get special bonuses?
Just take the same last name if you care and tell people you are married. Get a bunch of friends to /clap and /cheer. As for marrying folks, already done that IRL, so why would I do it again

One advantage could be a shared vault with double vault space. Another could be if they introduce banks a shared account.
The ring you swap could be a ring of teleportation, used to teleport you to the location of your partner. So during times of need you can come and help.
A lot of it is down to having a bit of fun.
Like my idea for an in world hairdresser, so you can change your character hair and get it dyed. It may seem silly to some but it adds something fun for people to do. They could even put in unique hairstyles.
Marrage is not a bad thing, if you think of it.

This was done a while back by the staff at ArenaNet see here. That was back in the day of napkins and fine dining...
The topic is as controversial now as it was then I guess.
For myself, novelty is interesting, but people need to find the line between online and offline life.

Hold on one minute...
Considering the demographics involved in this games.
A large population of them being 1st person shooter fans, the idea of marriages goes to an extreme that I don't feel will be embraced.
What you're asking is that ArenaNet conform with other games in the past.
If we have an already unique game, why spoil it with bits and pieces of other games?
I believe the idea here is to be something unlike any game out there.
While I agree that some individuals clearly like to have internet relations(ie. marriages etc.) I don't think it fits the game to date.
Personally I'd like the developers time spent on in-game issues that need polishing for smoother game-play.
I appreciate your opinion, don't get me wrong, I just think that this game needs to be its' own animal.

I think
I think that it would be interesting if you could have children that contained random attributes from both mother and father, and that this character could then be played by one of the two. In that way you could have a 4 way multiclass character (potentially), but it wouldn't be much of an advantage since there would be no strategy behind which attributes are chosen.
But to avoid bigotry I think there should be a spell that a NPC can cast on same sex couples that would produce the same results (except that women would only be able to have female children because they have no y chromosome, and men would be able to have both because they have both X and Y.)
Men, of course, would have the disadvantage of having to have a surrogate third party to actually carry the fetus to term and so have it harder in tha way.
No game has ever done THAT before.
But, while this may be fun, it is of a very low priority. I'd like to see races added myself. Or a flying ability if there isn't one in the game (I haven't seen one). Shadowbane had a lot of problems, but I gotta say it really seemed magical when you'd see somebody suddenly levitate into the air. It added new opportunities for different fighting strategies, and the view alone was incredible.
I also think a psyonicist might be neat if implimented the right way. The way their powers work would have to be significantly different from the spells already in the game.

Bleh chicks who like games are so hot. But usually when you see their picture you're disturbed by it.
Marriage idea is a very big NO WAY. The only reason I can think of to not have it is just how lame it is.
A: If you had benefits it would be like saying you have to get married or you just can't do this. That would force people to marry and it would be lame.
B: It's entirely too nerdy and I doubt there are enough chicks playing gw for it to even work. Not to mention the ammount of guys who would pretend to be chicks so they can spam "OMFG MARRY ME CUBER CYBER I LUV SEX!1!One!!
C: If you're only talking about the gender of your char then it's just creepy knowing that you're really e-married to a guy even if his char is a girl.
So I'll give it a solid NO.
OH YEAH and what about you get an e-divorce, but you already had an e-baby so you hire your e-lawyer in hopes of not having to pay as much e-child support. Then she takes half of your e-possessions and you're like WTFBBQ!1!!STAY AWAY FROM MY SWORD. So then you work it out and get back together, then you realize that she only got back together with you to put an e-hit out on you to get the e-life insurance money.
GuildWars is a game, not real life, lets keep it that way.

How is this conversation even happening, I wonder?
Just make characters with the same last name. Problem solved!

One of the reasons I chose GW was to avoid that Evercrack b.s. I am here to game and explore virtual worlds, not hook up with some virtual wife. Besides, I am happily married in real life view virtual marraige as infidelity.

Keep in mind, the game is made more for PvP players AND for those people who enjoy jumping on, and wondering around exploring / fighting. Add anymore into the game and you get people who live and die by the game, those who take things a little more serious then the casual player, and more arguments about things.
As it stands right now, the game is pretty well perfect as it is. (Maybe toss in a few more interface options and whatnot, but pretty solid.)
Just remember, its not a real MMO.
Its actually fun. :P
