Tweaks and Wishes
A few things I'd like to tackle here as...well, really, nitpicks. I quite love the game, and just have a few things I'd like to see changed/added/rebalanced slightly, although I can live without them.
1) A larger vault of some sort. One ought to at least be able to keep a pile of each crafting material present in their vault if nothing else. Even just two more rows and/or columns would be sufficient.
2) Two additional skill bar slots. Not only are my 9 and 0 keys feeling awful bloody jealous from underuse in many games now, but when you do a 12/10/6/6 split or 11/10/10/1 split and actually intend to use skills from all four, you're really crunched for space, especially if you're a party-conscious sort and always keep a resurrection type skill available. I'll explain this more in just a bit.
3) In your character statistics, it would be nice to see your Ascendant level (how many times you've leveled since Ascension). My primary character is a third-level Ascendant Ele/Mo (Astra Lambia), but I will never be forever able to remember her Ascendant level. Just be nice to easily keep track of. Now as to the prior, her skill bar is Lava Font, Fire Storm, Meteor Shower, Capture Signet (Fire Attunement for PvP), Heal Other, Heal Party, Lesser Glyph of Energy, and Restore Life. My difficulty ensues in that my actual attributes are 12 fire, 10 healing, 6 energy storage and 6 protection - but I don't have any room to add protection spells (excepting possibly not bringing in Fire Attunement) - because of recharge times, I need all three fire spells and both heals. I have to (in my mind) have the resurrection skill. Then I need glyph to pay for my Meteor Showers. This leaves me a single slot which I need to fill with protection spells, a self-heal, condition/hex removal, or otherwise useful utility effects.
4) An account-persistent set of world maps; at least let us see all the places we've explored with our characters, with areas not explored by the logged in character slightly greyed out, and warp points they can't yet use with a red X on them (disabled). It's a nice reference to have just to remember where, for example, Duke Barradin's Estate is.
5) A different font colour for whispers. While green is my favourite colour, it's being used for all game engine text, and whispers, and names in guild chat. Might I suggest purple?
6) /me functionality for custom emotes.
7) Ability to invite people from Friends and Guild screens.
8) More information in Guild screen; classes/level of members, total members, members online, perhaps some other things. I'm in a rather large guild and counting is just right out at this point. ^_^
9) As someone else requested, having inventory screen load automatically when visiting a Xunlai agent would be nice. Also, having the Vault box appear further to the right and up some would be nice for those of use who open inventory with F9...and have a backpack, belt pouch, and 2 Rune of Holding'd bags - this covers 80% of the vault box with the current layout.
10) My biggest pain in the arse - more ways to get fur squares. As far as anyone I've contacted can tell, they can ONLY be gotten from EXPERT salvage of charr hides (and not 100%)...except you don't get expert kits until after you're done seeing charr forever. This creates several issues; without muling expert kits from one character to another, it means no character actively fighting charr can salvage the hides in order to get fur, and people who can buy the kits need to backtrack to farm furs. More importantly, it's a big, fat middle finger to primary warriors and rangers, who cannot upgrade anything but their helmets between pre-Searing and *YAK'S BEND* (with a few collectors as partial exceptions) - and still need to backtrack for charr hides even then. That stings. A lot. "How do I get fur?" is the number one question I've seen shouted in most every post-Searing town.
11) An option for role-playing characters to not display their head items, like PvP characters have. My buzzcut warrior just doesn't look right with that eggshell helmet on his head, and it irritates me. ^_^
12) Oh yes, quest items spawning from chests - should spawn one for each member of the party, or if you want to be really sophisticated, for each member who has the proper quest active. Doing The Royal Papers six times was not fun. Bloody tengu. (
There's probably more somewhere in my head, but I think I've done enough nitting either way for now.
