Missing your mates Whispers?
Wouldn't a little sound bite really help when your mates Whispered you, with text not displaying for an extended amount of time I find it easy to miss Whispers, especially in a populated area.

or at least a tab to allow you to see only whispers etc.

Yup yup
game doesnt suck, but it does suck when you miss msg's from friends, or friends miss yours. Especially when I'm tabbed out checking a map

Chat tabs <3 .. will most certainly be added within a short while-- I'm assuming. ^_~ It's almost surprising they forgot to add that for initial release.. but whatever.
