Implement Casinos...
Luckily this didn't happen to me but there was a case rather recently of a person losing their money, and with the storage system as it is, it isn't hard for a person to generate funds by scamming with casinos. As it is, most casinos are of course, give money first, then rolling, obviously those of us who lose at em could just not pay up and leave for another till we win.
Alot of people dislike casinos, and I'm not a fan but it can be amusing to waste a bit of cash, or alot of it, rather than fighting the same tired monsters again and again, I mean, making 5k in five minutes isn't difficult.
However, when such systems arrise that can be exploitable, aka scamming and stealing people's money, a developer has to react, create either a casino function which includes bets and a more varied and interfaced style of casino, or have gamblers present in the city doing the same thing so people don't spend their days creating their own, granted I don't see a problem with it.
Using the /casino function :
When using this, it creates a small...round table, podium, something which announces, hey, I'm a casino. For the casino itself, you get a small interface, parameters for the casino, accept and declining bets, as well as current gambling for those bets.
It would basically consist of a top screen which includes things such as;
Gametype - Direct Roll, Matching, High Ball/Low Ball, Guess, and Range
Number Split - 1 is always the minimum, 2-1000 is the maximum
Bet Amount - 1-10,000 say
Double or Nothing - Allows the option to double up on a roll or lose it all, allows bet amounts to get higher faster.
Double or Nothing buffer - With this, a casino can set how far above the Bet Amount a Double or Nothing can go, between 0-100,000, with 0 this means it extends only to the Bet Amount, 100,000 would mean you can go to 110,000 at the highest.
- Direct Roll Rules - Single roll, lands on a number or above gets payout.
x2/3/4/5/6 - All but x2 are allowed to be deactivated, these are the plateau for their level, so if a person enables x2/3/4, with 650/850/950, then x2 will be between 650-849, and so on.
- Matching Rules - Roll against the gambler, payout based on how close you are.
x2/3/4/5/6 - These are the levels of how close you have to be to gain this much, such as x2/3/4, can be 20, 10, 1, so if the casino rolls a 500, and the gambler rolls a 510, they get x3, if it is 499-501 they get x4.
- High Ball/Low Ball Rules - Get above or below the gambler's roll.
House Advantage On/Off - If house advantage is on, then the gambler has to beat the casino's roll, matching it offers no payment, if off, gambler can match for rules below.
x2/3/4/5/6 - Level of how far away from the Casino's number to win more, such as with x2/3/4 can be 0/200/400 (0 with house advantage means 1, without means equal), so if the Casino rolls a 500 in high ball, and you get 900, you get x4.
Equal - A seperate option for payment if a gambler equals the casino's own roll, available with x0/1/2/3/4/5/6, obviously x0 means you must beat it, x1 is just the bet is not won or lost, and others are of course for making money.
- Guess - Guess the roll to win within a certain range
x2/3/4/5/6 - Win more the closer you are to the Casino's Roll, with x2/3/4 it could be 50/20/5, which means if the casino rolls a 500, and you guessed 520, you get x3.
Gambler Rolls - Can follow the above rules, the casino has a set guess, and can be set per roll I suppose, gambler tries to be within the above ranges of the casino's guess to win, there can be an inverse to this for avoiding though it would have to be clearly marked, as the casino could mop up easily with x6 advantages unnoticed against a gambler's pocket (so not an inverse for now).
- Range - Similar to guess, but you get a range
Above Guess rules apply
Range - Range of guess, set between 1-500, so a person can guess 1 with a 500 range, and be correct all through 1-500. Unsure exactly how x2/3/4/5/6 would work, perhaps based on the primary number or any number within the range, either would work as long as people understood.
Now, after the rules are established, people can walk up and begin placing bets after monitoring all of the rules. Up to say 4 people can play at once, betting for the dealer to accept/decline, and upon doing so, casino, gambler, or both, randomly roll numbers, winner of course takes the pot, with the option to double or nothing if allowed. Bets are held whenever a casino changes its rules, money must be on hand or in storage for payment, or else there is an automatic buffer which does not allow bets to move up to this point, first bet activated gets priority over this of course, and in the implausible case of simultaneous betting, priority goes to the top place (rank em vertically 1-4 as they enter, moving up as others leave). Pay outs are direct from character or storage.
Do not include money sinks, such as 1% for winnings, people will just attempt to bypass it and we will be at that brick wall once again with possible scamming, since neither side wants to lose their 1% when they could just roll in the all channel.
It is overly detailed I'm sure for Casinos, but, if you don't include enough options, it won't attract all of the people already doing this, if others play like this then they'll do it in the all channel and as I said, we are back to that brick wall.
Just designed to safeguard people from scams and remove the advantages scammers have, while giving people that needed little break from constant turmoil a few seem to want, while not making it anything that could realistically change the game.
I'm also thinking along the lines of various poker games and so on, since it is in such a craze now, especially Texas Hold'em and Omaha, need to include alot though, those with Five Card Draw, Five Card Stud, Blackjack, shamefully Blind Man's Bluff could easily be exploited and just wouldn't hold the humor .
