Sigils and Guilds
I just wanted to put my two pence worth forward regarding this Sigils for 90k business.
Ok, so fair enough Sigils should be hard to get but at the moment the amounts Sigils are being sold for is really quite bad. Two instances i saw last night are:
- Someone buying a sigil for 90k
- Someone offering to pay $20 RL for one
Fair enough some people will be willing to pay this amount but in doing so they are setting the standard sellers rate which perhaps many of us others are not able to/prepared to pay to the BIG GUILDS who win sigils on a weekly or even daily basis.
Ok, so other alternative - win one. Not easy for small friendship guilds when faced with the huge PVP elite out there. Now many responses I have seen to this is "Well small guilds do not deserve to have a guild hall". So just because a guild prefers to stay small and have a guild with only friends as opposed to inviting any random character that walks past you in Ascalon City, that makes the Guild unworthy of a Hall? Just because perhaps a guild is not all that good at PVP means they are not allowed the right to fight other similiar skilled Guilds? Should i really have to join a party of uber PVP'ers just in the hopes of scrounging a Sigil through a win?
Many guilds don't want Sigils so they can go up against other Guilds in large tournaments and things. Perhaps some smaller guilds just want to be able to have a private place to meet up or arrange friendly Guild Wars against other small guilds of similiar size or skill.
My suggestion would be to offer some other reward at the Hall of Heroes. Something really ACE but thats not totally critical to the gameplay experience of Guild Wars.
Instead i think that Sigils should be available in some sort of Guild Based campaign. A series of really difficult missions that only guild members can team together on. At least that way every guild whether big, small, PVP elite or not PVP elite has the chance to get a sigil.
Lets face it - getting one via a PVE campaign in going to be much more fun than opening a trade window and parting with 90k.
Well thats my suggestion Applaud or Flame, i await your responces

I agree. Sigils should be available to those that aren't in to the PvP thing. Not by purchasing from someone who is in to PvP, but through a quest or a merchant. Hell, make it nearly impossible/outrageously expensive, just make it available. You shouldn't have to rely on other players to get one.
it's the same debate as with PvP'ers and skills. Most PvP players don't want to have to PvE to get the skills they want. I agree with that too. Neither aspect of gameplay should rely on the other. Just my opinion of course.

Yeah. I think the guild hall should be more widely avalable. Maybe if you win that 4 for all match, them ur team gets 2 or something. A lot of people want these th do CVC and we cannot get them.

Even though there is that part of me that likes the idea of having my guild earn it's guild hall, I do agree that the system as it stands is fairly flawed at best. Yes, you should award those guilds who've managed to do as well in pvp as they have ... but the Sigil drops in HoH basically keep rewarding those same guilds over and over again, so they in turn control the selling market for Sigils to other guilds as we all know, noone *ever* sells their sigil to the sigil trader, so none are ever available via merchant purchase. I have a feeling they intended that the sigil traders would be used on a fairly frequent basis, or else they'd not be there in the first place ... but again, it hasn't worked out that way in the slightest.
I do understand that what's considered the *end game* of GW is the pvp / gvg side of things. But for what it's worth, the majority of the reward system of the game is handed to those players who were doing hardcore pvp all through beta. Call it what you will, but I've gotten to the point in the missions where I've just completed the Ring of Fire, so am near the end of the mission series, which imo takes just as much skill and teamwork as winning in pvp, yet there's no real reward-type incentive to do so in the least. For example I've yet to even have a single major or superior rune drop, nor a rare weapon for my class ( necro ). All I've gained is a handful of skills I'd not have gotten had I stopped missions earilier, and some skill points I now have no real use for.
But back to sigils ... I honestly do hope that this is something that's looked into as by all means, there should be at least *some* way for smaller guilds to also have a chance at getting them other than having to grind in explorable areas for enough gold to hand over to uber guilds, so they can in turn outfit their entire guild in 60K armor.

Well, I'm not extremely informed about Sigils, but It seems to me that they should disable the sale of sigel directly to other players so they can only sell them to sigil traders, instituting a set price players can earn off of these, and making them resonably attainable by other guilds at a set price.
Also, they could make some "Extensive" missions available to guilds in order to earn sigils, which should be much more tasking and time consuming then PVPing for them, but it allows more "passive" guilds to earn thier way up to glory through "non-confrontational" means.

Actually, the problem is that due to the lack of competative play on the GvG ladder (again because of too many good guilds are busy farming) they spend their time in tombs instead, where they have nothing to lose. For most good guilds, tombs is pretty easy match untill, perhaps, the last two-three matches.
