I'd think not including this is best, so you might actually group with other people more often if merely for the annoyance of having to do this. The original events, we built groups, constantly, I don't even recall having henchmen around, and it took little more than half a minute to find a competent group, and people spent much of their time roaming the same missions a few times over, all in all a much better atmosphere.
Infact, I'd say the necessity to include better systems and remove the ability to load out with more than half henchmen for actual missions should be included, including items such as LFG/LFM tags, cross-district invites and LFG channels as well as interfaces to group up more properly.
As well, I've never had a group break up after teleporting to town, didn't happen when we got to henge of denravi, or after we went through three missions to get to Yak's Bend, even after beating Hell's Precipice, probably just with henchmen, and once again, if it forces you to group, that is great.

Solo with henchmen are only viable early in the game..........later in the game its nearly impossible to group with hench (not infused) to weak

Anything that makes using henchies, instead of real players, easier is inherently bad for the game.
Plus, as you get further into the game, the henchmen get higher levels. So if the henchies stayed in your group, you could get a guildmate to bring some lvl13 henchies from later in the game back to Ascalon for you so that you don't have to use the lvl3 ones there.
I know what you mean about it being a hassle, but it's a nice hassle

Considering how often PUG groups are rude and nasty to new players, I personally think the henchmen serve a vital role - that of allowing players to become comfortable with the game without the peer pressure of having to listen to others telling them how 'terrible' or 'slow' or 'weak' they are while they're just trying to learn.
I like on-line play, but I'm not terribly competitive. I like to feel like I'm comfy w/my skills, the controls, the monsters - and I learn best alone, maybe because I can control everything and observe w/out distraction. That's just the way I am. So I'm personally grateful that henchies are very viable at least through Sanctum Cay and probably somewhat beyond. Someone here even said they were only unable to do a mission w/henchies in two instances, entire game.
Anyway, that said...on topic - I would like it if henchies stayed with you as well. I know it's not a big deal to click on them again in town...just one of those minor annoyances that you wouldn't mind not having. And I doubt it'd be that hard to program it so they'd adjust their level to match the town you were teleporting to. In fact, this happens already - if you have lvl 6 henchies and reach a town (on foot or teleporting) that has lvl 8 henchies, the ones you arrived with suddenly become lvl 8. EDIT: All they have to do is make it go in reverse, as well. etc.
