Guilds should be tied by character name, not account.
As a guild leader I learned very fast that the guild you lead is tied to the account name, not the character name. This of course drives me crazy to no end. If I play one character thats a guild leader why can't I have another that can experience being a member in a diffrent guild? If I decided to delete my guild leader character and wanted exchange leadership to one of my other characters there should be option to do so.

its kinda the same with the friends list...you can see any character that person plays. so in a sense people could stalk you since all they have to do is add ONE character to friends and then they KNOW WHO YOU ARE. Kinda scary if you ask me

Yeah, that means that your GF/BF could know that you lied when you said you said that you had to dinner with your parents! When instead you ran back home to play more GW! Mmm...although isn't there an option to appear offline? Oh, speaking of which...Important tip: Redial will kill you!

i personally like that every acct is tied to the name...makes things more simple?
Btw if you DID delete that character you would still be leader with any of your other characters, FYI.

It helps your GF/BF know that you are a lying SOB, and they should break up with you.
Having it tied to an account is preferrable, because if I am using an alternate character, I can still converse with my Guild. In addition, guilds cannot boost their member list by inviting all four of an account's characters. In addition, it prevents "spying" on other guilds.

the only reason i see not to have the friends thing tied to account is roleplaying; easier to make a new character and start up a new 'story' with your friends if they don't know who you are
BUT the good thing about the friends being tied is that you can only have about 25 friends in the list at once... now imagine having to add your friends 4 characters into the list... doesn't leave you with many more friend slots.

This is what I was going to say, in a MMORPG game i played, they had it like that(tied to the char and not the acoRED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO) and I hated it when someon that had 5 differnt chars in 5 differnt guilds, it also pissed me off when he had all 5 differnt chars in the same guild that takes up 4 spaces that you could need for other players.
I completely disagree with this.

stops you from planting turncoats in other guilds. And if you do want to do that they get to make money from you since you need to buy a second game.

mmm, hmm...sounds pretty mixed. Oh, and I liked the reply about "if your bf/gf is a lying sob...you should break up with them." LMAO! Geez, some people just can't read between the "sarcasm." Lossen up a little.

If you choose offline in your friends lists it works on the guild list
Ok, I just found this out. If you set yourself as offline in your friends list, you show up as offline in the guild list as well! Just thought I'd mention that.

I personally would like my characters seperate however... couldn't it be made an option? If it was a option then a person could choose to have them connected or not.

i like it myself. the only downside i see is if people in house want to be in different guilds but want to use the same account.
Otherwise i like it, partially because it keeps people more honest. You can't rip some one off in your guild unless you pay for a whole new account key. I remember in diablo 2 people could steal your stuff and would transfer to their friends or another accounts of theirs.
I mean everyone had multiple accounts which meant multiple names in the ever shortening friends list. It also took away from possible accounts names or character names to choose from because people were allowed to pretty much has as many as they want. Which in turn wastes more server space and if you remember in Diablo 2 you added the account not the name like in FFXI.

Yeah its a good rule tbh, without it people WOULD use the feature to throw matches in other guilds. That is simply what would happen. Not always, but once is too much.

Since the game does not have a monthly fee i dont see why you wouldnt just purchase another game box. Also i hated in previous games how guild leaders would play their alts in different guilds, Above all if you lead a guild you should be commited enough to have your players in it if your not that commited to your guild and your members you shouldn't have a guild. Especially when other members are in your guild trying to make things happen.

Although I'll admit that this can get annoying, sometimes it's really nice NOT to have to be the one in charge for a little while, especially in more serious mmorpgs where everything seems so incredibly important. But yeah, it's definately the mark of a committed leader when they don't do this.
As far as multiple guilds on one account, it has it's advantages but I think the disadvantages outweigh them. If you really want to have more flexibility just get another copy of the game, since you won't have to pay monthly for either one.

I would like to see my alts allowed in separate guilds. I can't afford a 2nd copy of the game and other family members play my alts and would like to be in their own guilds.

If you are that concerned about sabotaging other guilds via pvp surely you would go out and buy another copy of the game and ruin the fun that way! The real issue is for people who want to be in two guilds to enjoy different parts of the communinty, one guild for competetive pvp, another for fun pve. Maybe one person visits two forums of which both have guilds and which the person would like to participate.

So, if I delete the character that I created the guild with in beta, and now I don't use that character. The leadership would fall to the next character?? The guild wouldn't be destroyed would it?

I agree 100% here. Guild membership should be tied to character. Friends lists should have an option of tying to the account or the character.

What about if you want all four characters to be in the same guild because you are actually loyal ? What if you change PvP characters regularly for GvG, etc? That could be a hassle putting all of them back in the guild.
Also, what if this starts "spying" on rival guilds?
It is better the way it is...
