PvP is starting to get boring .......
PvP is the reason I bought the game. It's just SO boring though. We earn nothing for doing it, maybe a sigil or fame. What's that going to do for us? Nothing.
4v4 Arenas are so pointless. I'm tired of the random grouping putting 4 monks on 1 team, then 4 rangers on another. What's the point? Most people are just logging off if they don't have a Monk or the team setup sucks.
Can't you make it where no more than 1 class type in 1 party? That'd make the PvP 4v4 alot more fun.
There is less and less people playing in PvP now it seems. The countdown always has to restart at least once because no one is joining in. If we actually had something to earn from doing PvP it might give people an incentive.
I'm logging in very rarely, and when I do, I log back out soon afterwards. Too many very awful groups in the 4v4 to have fun. Maybe 3/10 groups you'll have a decent group setup.

I agree that arena games are boring. Tombs though somewhat got an upgrade in that you get loot now and even rune drops holding HoH, though that doesn't help the middle-lower tier competition, but hey it is a tournament. The tombs purpose is perfect the way it is in concept.

So your saying technicaly :: You only have fun when you win, and win fast?
All i need to say is "Make a better more "fun" character...", and if that doesnt eleviate your problem, then i don't know what to say... Examples:: Summoning necros are Great fun in tournaments... Pet rangers can have Some really fun skills... Try making a monk with great defensive spells... that way, when people attack you, you're in turn hurting them... cause we all know, people target the monk first... and there's nothing more funny then seeing a team attack the wrong healing monk, just to get smited down by shield of judgement...
I mean... i myself have fun with the competition aspect of the game... i find underworld/fissure to be Great fun... and the tournaments (King of the hill + capture the flag) to be FUN... but meh...
I also find the 4v4 arenas to be quite fun as well... with my high dmg output, it doesnt matter who i get put with, i will turn the tables for my side... meaning... gg with my team... although when you get set up vs a "Good" team, that got set up luckily... then you lose... but eventually they're going to lose, and sometime you'll gain the upper hand with a good team, and then... it happens again... and the counter to that good team will arrive in good time... and if not, you play winning for a while, gaining exp slowly for more skill points, for even more combo's for your own skills...
These are just my opinions... i really don't see how you cant completely love the tournament... Hint hint:: Use at least three monks every time(preferably one protection) unless you know the people playing, and know they're really good... cause two monks is suffice enough. The Main problem with most people, is they add Too many warriors, and without ranged attack stacking up... it normaly isnt enough... as people can just go, Poof speed boost of 35%, and run from the warriors little 25% sprint...

Well I have alot of fun when I can actually get into a Tombs group, but being a R/Me ill tell you the extint of my day. Waiting 30-40 min for a group because we all know Rangers are either gimped or percieved gimped and dont fit into the "perfect HoH grp". So after I finally get into a group I get to listen for another 5 minutes of people whining "why you picked up a f---in Ranger". So finally it starts and either someone dies at the rifts or just dont think the group done well enough and quits and usually takes 1 or 2 more. But the rest of the group stays in makes it all the way to the final match and loses because were short a person.
Long story short yeah its getting kinda old for me not its content but for things stated above LOL.

Do you find the random grouping to be good ? BTW, I'm mostly ranting about 4v4. I've never tried HoH because I don't want to dissapoint my team, if I failed.

The game is odd... e.g. once you ascend, give me a valid reason to want to go kill lvl 13 mobs around Yaks? or around Ascalon? The game kinda forces you to stick in areas to your level, which i dont like.
PvP Wise, the game is fun, but its too luck based. Several times now i've seen the Ghostly Hero bug, and spend 2 minutes trying to capture the altar with no agro, and fail.
This is HIGHLY annoying when your in the last 2 minutes or so and the Ghost just doesn't press the "capture" button...
Either way, stick it out, it seems about 50% of the games population are getting bored... and i think the Devs are aware of it, expect changes asap

Ahh, insanity... never tried hoh... you're missing the Funnest pvp since... well... the Funnest pvp... which i know none of... my best compairison is another game some of the anet people came up with... diablo 2...
HoH has King of the hill (Three teams in a battle royal for the top), and capture the relic (Tons of stradegies have shown up in this one...)
Standard 1v1 teams... of 8 for those of you that read this mistakenly
And 2v2, 2v2, 2v2 matches, where the winner is the last team standing... and you have Priests that you can protect in order to resurrect automaticly!
And the actual halls of hero's... in which its 2v2, 2v2... and the two winners then come towards the center (Where the other team that won last time are waiting...) and it ends with a Smash off Between the winner and Two teams crashing in the middle for some more king of the hill style playing!! (if you win this, there's a chest that drops sigils(Still quite spendy ^,^), and items!!
Oh yea, and in droknar's forge (?) there's an arena 4v4 where you choose your ally... just incase its just the random part you dont like... ^.^
This info should tempt you into trying new things... cause this games pvp is just the begining!

Umm, lol... capture the altar bug? Or interupts + Knockdowns --- which ive seen used many times!, try using spell breaker... and blaam, job done... OR the other stradegy, where the team blocks the center!!! (Meaning you CANT capture it... Mwuahahaha* Go us elite players *)
And how about you check the statistics... 50%?, more like the 1/4 of the population, and they just arent good at the game... and well... of course they won't like it... at least they don't have to get mad... since its not monthly pay based... All i gotta say, is that most people (Those of us that use more then 1/3 of our brain...) totaly love this game ^.^ and are open to all suggestions, since the game JUST came out... and will be morphing, and contorting like mad...
I myself am not bored, and probably wont be... Ever... this pvp is WAY more then i ever imagined a game to have (ESPECIALY for my comp specs...)
*** Games like this will always have HARDCORE fans for the game... this game rules in ALOT of ways that other games can't even come close to... this is a NEW breed of game.. and it's funny, cause it answers my every taste that a game can have... especially an mmorpg***
---lvl 20, easy to contain, no more yearly grind, and gold... easier if you play alot, but even if you play as much as me, you get Rich enough... and if you dont spend it on superior runes, and just keep with major... you can get yourself some Bad ass armor for 15k from elite area's... Hmm, rewarding those with skill in this game (I LOVE that)---

instead of ranting let's look at what can be some solutions here to make PvP less boring/annoying, mainly looking at the lower/middle tier.
- fix the ghostly hero bug
- improved randomizing with the 4vs4 Arenas
suggestions:
-no similair primary profession/profession combos per group (~Rasp)
-Not putting 4 of the same primairy professions in a group (~Rasp)
- maybe more sorts of Arenas with different ways to achieve victory
(I haven't played any other thing than 4vs4 yet and am not aware of all the victory types so bare with me here)
suggestions:
-King of the hill type: Hill/Area you have to hold for a certain amount of time
-Capture the flag or something similair: although I thought that's been implemented around here, it would be nice for the 4vs4 though
-Annihilation: 2 teams not being able to attack eachother but to defend themselves from waves of monsters, the team with the most kills wins, though being in the same area, might require both teams to cooperate, quite interesting idea I'd say so myself anyway.
- Maybe multiple opposing teams like 4vs4vs4
suggestions:
-Would fit nice with the King of the Hill type, multiple parties trying to conquer the Hill, the 2 parties not controlling it could work together.
That's all I could think of so far...
[Edit]: half of it already exists in HoH.. ignore that, see it as an add on for the Lower/Middle tier.

Start playing in the team arena, and form a balanced group. Stop playing competition if it bores you. Also, try HoH. That's where all the challenge is.

Why can't you idiots figure out that sometimes, the monk just CAN'T heal due to circumstance FAR BEYOND your control?
Of course, no game is perfect. By sacrificing the things that make a 'traditional' mmorpg, this game ends up with a slew of different problems... bah...
When I lose I just say I came in with the wrong skill set. I should have attacked 'that guy' etc. Why do people keep thinking it's someone else's fault?
IT'S ANET! THEY CAN'T PROGRAM A GOOD GAME!!! [sheesh I'd like to see you people slap together the capital and talent and resources that THESE GENIUSES created ^_^]
At any rate, I'm a lvl 20 ascended W/N curses based anti-mob pve fighter and conditions engine pvp demon. I still go back to the earlier stages, not to farm mind you, but to help guildmates who haven't gotten to my point yet. That and it's fun to watch that gigantically huge mob of char go splat when they used to eat me alive...
Can't u just accept a game that's recieved excellent reviews from every magazine/website in existence? I'm guessing some people think there's a 'consipiracy' stating that they were bribed into hyping up this game... or something...
I'll just say something that this thread needs to hear. I love this game for all its faults and benefits. Especially since its, FREE TO PLAY! nothing to lose so why cry?

The thing that annoys me about pvp is that 'perfect HoH' team mentality. I will tell you it doesn't exist. the game is simply about learning to adapt and use your skills best in conjunction with your teammates.
I can't count the number of times, just like the ranger before, where i have to wait for ever to go to Fissures or Tomb or Underworld cuase i have a necro ranger. they see it and instantly assume i will try to rasie minions or i have a pet and will be a liabily. Those teams that do take me quickly learn i have made a pretty strong character. with my blood magic currently at 17(20% of the time its 18) and focusing on lifestealing i can take down an enemies health rapidly and can kill most warriors pretty fast. even monks have a hard time dealing with a 250+ health drop in under 5 seconds. add in my well of blood is regen +7 and you got a nice base to melee from. and king of the hill? oh so much fun.
The point is that too many people assume things about people characters. like a monk is instantly a healer(i know a few people with awesome protect or smiting strats) or a necro will be relying on raising stuff, or that a mesmer is weak and useless. that last one is far from true. I went up against a mesmer the other night and even standing in my +7 well i still had a lot of arrows in health degen. the onslought coming outta that memer was harsh.
If your gonna PvP anywhere even random assignment missons try to get everyone to quickly post what thier playstyle is to the rest of the team so you know what they will be doing. I had a random 4 person arena team that was 2 rangers a smiter monk and my necro and we won 7 straight. there is no perfect build there is no perfect team setup. there is just using what you have the most effective way you can, and a lot of times you will find these will trounce the so called perfect builds cuase they are so narrow in what they do they can't adapt to something differnet

I'd like to see a longer PvP style of match. Or, even an area where you could customize a match between two parties.
It would also be pretty cool if they had a free for all zone. Set it up like a city area in terms of districts and allow any kind of fighting in there. (free for all with teams basically) Allow the bringing of henchmen, and put some mobs in there as well with rare items. Set it up with random area spawn points, and make it huge. In other words, an area where the set up is more like classic MMORPGs. With full PvP.

Someone else suggested sort of an "Ongoing PvP battle" where you can just jump in, slaughter a little, then jump out (FFA of course ). I think if they do choose to implement a "longer" battle, it should be something like that.

actually, me and a team of caster only ppl, almost won hall of heros a few hours ago. Was the most awesome battle I've ever seen. it was 4 necros, 2 ele's 2 monks. It was funny to watch both korean teams retreat when we just wouldn't die. Poor bastards musta had a 45% dp on them by then. That was a hell of a lot of fun. Almost took hoh but none of us really understood the map and we got divided, which spelled the end for us. Was a hell of a good run tho.

4v4 Random arenas are a joke most of the time... most people are just stupid when it comes to that.
I won 4 on 1 with my PA/HS/PD/TD ranger before. =3
But yea, it does get old... Tombs is much more fun.
