Desperate need for AUCTION HOUSE
I've been playing GW since before the release during the BWE's. And I've never seen such horrible spamming in my life. I think I see people complaining about the spams everywhere I go online or in the game. I've only seen a few different ideas or suggestions for solutions. GW desperately needs an AH for people to buy and sell items. I saw that you can get a program from a site or view people's listings at sites like rpgtraders.com but I have not checked it out. However it is probably worthless seeing that I do not want to take extra time to check the site to post items, look for items, find sellers, etc. With an AH we would be able to put items up for sale, search for items based on weapons-->swords-->(see a list of all swords for sale), then purchase equipment/materials we need.
I for one am tired of seeing an *$$ load of spam every second. Not only is it annoying, it makes me dread going to town. You can always search for empty districts but then you waste your time switching constantly.
All for spam reduction, an Auction House, availability to buy and sell items....
Say I ---> now only problem is getting GW to get on it immediately :P

I agree, an auction house would be very helpful.
I'd also like to see an animation for people who are looking to be part of a group, so instead of spamming "group me group me group me!" they can just activate this repeating animation and be found by people who are forming groups.

A better method might be a search command and a way to give yourself an icon so people know you're looking for a group. In FFXI you could change yourself to having an icon showing you wanted a group and it allowed you to put in a little info (ie. 18nec/mes LFG, then include what mission/quests you need to complete. Talking in town isn't bad but if people could search somehow it would make grouping easier.

I do get sick of the trade spam in towns, especially when it spills over into local chat. (As soon as you ask them politely to use trade they just end up swearing at you. )
But until A.net listens to this suggestion and adds an auction house to the game, the website listed above (and below. *cough*) is pretty useful.

I read the site but didn't see how things like this would be handled. does it revert to the next highest bidder? hmmm other than that it seems like a good idea, but a INGAME auction system wouldbe best because it would be final. you bid and if you win the transaction is completed right there.

I want people to know what this is turning into...
Last night, some guy was SPAMMING the all channel with his trades and garbage (if it had been a TON of people spamming it, I wouldn't have bothered, but it was just him).
I sent him a whisper and said "hey, mind keeping that in the trade channel? some of us don't want to see that stuff XD"
He replies with something like, "mind shutting the **** up?"
So in reply "i asked you nicely, no need to be an assclown about it"
And from him "**** you. when it comes to how i run my ****ing business, there's no nice way to tell me anything"
I'm just floored by this. I mean seriously... usually when I ask someone to keep it in trade, they're apologize or tell me how they did it accidentally cause they were chatting in another channel and whatnot. Ok, no big. But this kind of guy...

Yes, I agree. We need an auction house. I don't want to stand in town for hours saying "WTS *insert name of item here*", I actually want to play the game. With an auction house, I could play the game while the auction house sells my things for me.

Auction House... that would be awesome. I hate all the general chat-spam from trading and standing there trying to hock your goods takes freakin forever to sell them, even at a super cheap price.

Another thing other than auction house that could be useful is player baazars, (one of the better ffxi features if ya ask me)granted there would always be alot of afk sellers...but then they could just put there bazaar icon up, set prices on the things they wanted to sell and any player curious could click on the player selling and hit a view button to see what wares were for sale..as for auction house...it too would have to be very similar to ffxi's version, the player selling would place the minimum price they are willing to accept ,and if a player bid even or higher they would get the item...if they bid to low they would be denied and have to rebid

I think everyone would like an auction house for Guild Wars, it would be a huge improvement and spamming is a major issue right now in the towns. Im pretty sure developpers are working on it as we speak, and will be implemented in the future updates.

Agreed, but it's already been talked about, anet has replied about this issue.
If you read the last fansite friday, they speculate that it will be some harder work (probably because they dont want to hault production on other things, and they probably have a certain amount of people they use for making things for the publics better needs.) since they will probably be continueously testing/making more content for the next expansion...
So, it's stated it is in production after they get this observer mode out (WHICH I LOVE THE IDEA OF!)... that way, they add Fun things first, and then add the things for the economy, so meh... i think they're doing great as a company, not to mention its the first support system ive seen where i get replies quickly, although auto responses that are copy pasted, i feel they're doing their job about our problems, especially since they probably get TONS and TONS of people trying to get a hold of them for many different things...
This companies going places... and guild wars is setting the market for a new brand of game, in which They started... i see it as a hybrid perfection of a game such as diablo 2 and counterstrike... just balanced to where you can choose ANYTHING and be GREAT in pvp... i seriously love it, and i hope these expansions are worth the money, because i plan on buying them...

I'm all for an auction house, or even a bazaar type thing I'd love to sell my stuff but can't stand the trade channel.
One person earlier brought up a good point about an auction house though... it makes trading so easy that inflation might skyrocket.
Imagine this:
There's a good sword up for auction. Before the auction house, the seller would have to advertise in asecelon 1 and have exposure to something like a hundred players. Out of those hundred players, the highest bid is 5k. ok done.
But now in the auction house, all it takes is one player who REALLY wants that sword, he puts a 30k bid on it. He wins.
Seeing this, everyone else who is putting up similar swords set the startin price at 20k, in hopes of similar profit... And so on.
So basically the auction house has exposure to so many people that an extreme spike in price is easier and also more easily noticed by the whole community.
I'm not sure how auction houses in MMORPGs work, as this is the first i've played. Anyone care to enlighten me on how inflation might be curbed? I'd love to see an auction house in GW... one of the first features they should have worked on IMO :P

I don't know. It sounds nice but then prices get inflated and tend to be set at something. Back when I was playing FFXI, fire crystals went for about 1000 gil or so; that was far too rich for my blood. The rich people start throwing their money around and the rest of us can't afford a thing.
Some does have to be done though. Last night in Lions Arch, people were spamming not only the trade channel but also local chat. What's worse is it seems to be the same people repeating themselves over and over again. You ask them to stop, but they usually don't. At that point I head to a less crowded district. No sale.
Maybe we should all band together and make a policy of not buying from spammers.
EDIT:The spammers do give a good reason for people that want FFA PvP in games.

you have something against George Lucas???? Are there problems about him? :P sorry joking
but ontopic, seriously why don't they make a separate trade channel. I know there is one, but i mean one so that nobody can read it in the normal channel, if you want to buy or sell, go to the new trade channel, there you can read everything in it.
This way we would never have spam in the normal/guild/team/whisper channel again.
Though I also prefer an auction house like in WoW, this would be less work for the makers of the game, because i don't think they will put effort in making an auction house.

this gwhammer.com, is this a good and trustable site? and how is it going with trading the items and money, via the site or do you need to make an appointment with the seller/buyer?
